Casa de Zaguates

Casa de Zaguates

Casa de Zaguates translates, I believe, to House of Strays. Alicia has rescued a number of dogs…read moreand continues to foster dogs for a local shelter organization. She loves dogs tremendously, and we hope that by providing this review that your dogs might have the tremendous good fortune to also be loved by her in your time of needing to be away from them. Her dogs are very well cared for, and yours will be too, should they spend time with her! Alicia has been a wonderful and truly amazing person! We moved to Tennessee and needed to find a new everything, and due to household concerns, a place for our pups (two lab mixes) to go for daycare and sometimes boarding was near the top of the list. We met her at the Ashland City farmers market, which as you know is where you go when you need pet care. We immediately liked her as a human, and scheduled a visit for our dogs so we would all know if Casa de Zaguates was the right fit for everyone concerned. Our dogs were delighted as always to go literally anywhere, and immediately set to exploring Casa de Zaguates, inside and out, and meeting Alicia's pack of various dogs. She liked our pups, her dogs got along with ours, and our dogs liked everyone and everything. We had found daycare for our dogs!! Alicia is generally flexible with pickup and drop off times, which was also necessary for us. Our dogs are on a somewhat unique diet, and this was no problem at all, along with supplements at mealtimes if needed. She sometimes will send pictures of our dogs frolicking, being goofy, or sleeping, which are always very welcome! Her love of dogs, hers and others, is apparent and obvious. The best test for whether this was going to be an ongoing fit for our dogs was their second visit to Casa de Zaguates. Dogs have a way of telling you things, and their feelings on returning to a location are generally not ambiguous. I was dragged from my vehicle by the dogs because they were so happy to be back with Alicia and her pack!!! Six months have passed, and our dogs stay at Casa de Zaguates for daycare every time we have that need. They are no less enthusiastic about spending time at Casa de Zaguates than they were that second time. Our dogs and their humans fully recommend in the highest way possible Alicia and Casa de Zaguates for your dogs!! Should you do your dogs the great favor of letting them stay at Casa de Zaguates, they will have at-will access to outside for exploring, zoomies, and--ahem--recreational purposes. Your dogs will meet her dogs which provides canine socialization enrichment which benefits all dogs. Alicia is very responsive and sensitive to any needs your dogs might have, will work with you to meet those needs. Alicia works with a local shelter and sometimes has foster dogs so the dogs that will play with yours do vary a bit. Never once have we been concerned that she will neglect our dogs in favor of hers, or that there was a concern about other dogs. We feel that our dogs, while in her care, are treated as if they are her dogs. She is a truly amazing person, and we are very much better for having met her. She loves our dogs, and our dogs love her. She and Casa de Zaguates were exactly what we needed, and exactly when we needed it. You would do well to give your dogs the experience of staying at Casa de Zaguates when you need or want time away from your dogs.

I scheduled a tour in advance online, and received a very thorough explanation of the Yardstick difference. There are three different play areas for small, medium, and large dogs. During a regular daycare visit, your dog gets a short break in their own kennel area around midday, before jumping back in for afternoon play. An all-day daycare visit will run you $45, and they do offer a trial day for new guests for $25. The entire facility is cute and clean - but I have to say it's the customer service that stands out most. The Yardstick team sends me adorable (and detailed) photo updates throughout the day, reinforcing that I've left my fur baby in excellent hands. Every time I drop my dog off, they greet her by name and genuinely seem excited to see her. Big thanks to the entire Yardstick team for taking such good care of our pup! We'll continue to bring her by as often as possible for some of the best doggie daycare in town!

All of them in Clarksville stated that they couldn't do it; due to needing the dog to be able to stand on it's own in some brace/contraption. The regular hours were closed, but I opened the door and asked if I could get a tour even though they had closed an hour ago. The guy said sure without any hesitation. The rooms are clean, indoor, and the play area is clean and inviting too. Everything here is beautiful. Smiles from the workers as well. Dogs are not allowed to play or sleep together unless they already live together. So there is no doggy socialization here. They protect themselves and the dogs from any harm. I'm okay with that. We get our own socialization with other dogs at the dog park. The smaller rooms with no TV cost $24 per night. The large luxury suites cost $26 per night and come with a TV (one per room) that plays animal planet all day long. This was Moo's (our pup) first time here so I got her the luxury suite and left her there for one night. She LOVES animal planet. Sometimes they will take your animal the night before WITHOUT a charge to make it easier on them if they don't have anyone to receive her the next morning. They wanted to do that for us, but we weren't ready to leave her and wanted to make sure she had her own toy and food since she's allergic to some foods. They made it possible for us to drop her off at our preferred time though. The next morning, we dropped her off and they took her collar off which surprised me since I thought they might need to keep track of her for any reason, but I guess it's their normal thing since the dogs don't play together, they have no problems with mix ups. I thought that was interesting. After I picked Moo up, she got a cute scarf on her neck, kissed the two ladies goodbye who helped bring her out to me, and was smiling the whole way home. She was very happy to see us again. Her first night away from home since we got her at the shelter. I don't know if she slept very well, since during the day it was extremely noisy, but I don't really expect it not to be with the dogs there. I wonder if they quiet down at night when the lights go off. I hope so. Moo was very very sleepy and tired the next two days. She recovered after that. I am only curious about whether or not she went to the bathroom there (in her room or outside during one of her three play times) because she doesn't go to the bathroom anywhere except in our backyard at home...not even at the park or anywhere else for that matter. I asked about it, but they didn't have specifics. She's fine though. I definitely recommend this place. GO SEE IT or LOOK AT THE WEBSITE. The rooms look exactly like the pictures. I forgot to take my own pictures from outside the building, but see my dog all smiley with her cute little scarf?

This is an updated review just now getting round to updating…read more First off I'd like to Thank the manager for calling me and speaking with me bout a misunderstanding. That there means a lot. I thought my Teeko was due for his shots and so glad I called cause he's no where near due on them. That was a relief. I didn't even know I could call and have them refill his heart guard. Again good to know. I love walking places but with walk in places sometimes you have to really wait. I do like this place has appointments cause you can work round your schedule. Oh! And they have Saturday hours too But thank you again and yes we will be bringing our babies back

She was extremely unprofessional, dishonest and uncompassionate and falsified my dogs medical exam. I called the morning of the 7th and was able to get a 9am urgent care appointment. My dog was having a reaction to frontline (rash, breathing was off, acting erratically, wasn't settling). I held Chewie as he was shaking, nurse came in and I told symptoms. Nurse left and waited for the doctor. Dr Kemp finally comes in, pulls out a comb from her drawer and pulls his hair back on his back to confirm some redness and flaky skin as the nurse held him. She pointed out he licks the inside of this legs as they were discolored, checked his feet and saw he doesn't lick those and then I mentioned he licks his tail so she looked at that. NEVER looked at his eyes, ears, listened to his heartbeat, NEVER even held him. She suggested three medicines for his itching, I declined all but 1. She left and later poked her head in saying I'd be back to buy the other two meds because she thought I would need them. I get the prescription and its made out for another one of our dogs, so I have to wait for them to correct that issue. Exam is $85 and she never held my dog. I went back to the vet to discuss with Dr. Kemp why she did not check Chewies vitals or give him a proper exam. She blatantly stood there and lied and told me she could email me a copy of the exam. I asked for a hard copy. She continued to go back and forth with me claiming she did all these things. 15 min later the nurse brings in a clearly falsified report stating Chewies temperature was 100, that his eyes were looked at, his teeth, lymph Nodes, etc etc. If this "Doctor" is falsifying exam reports, what else is this woman lying about? I fear for people who do not know better and don't ask questions and that she is taking full advantage of them. Clearly animals and my pet were not a priority to her. I did not ask for a refund, I was not angry, only inquisitive as to why she did not perform a proper exam or check the vitals of my 14 old dog. I know we all have off days so I just wanted an explanation. But when she stood there and lied straight to my face and then had the nurse bring me a fake detailed report, my jaw was on the floor. I brought my concerns to the manager Jessica Sullivan who dismissed all my concerns by stating that sometimes you might not realize that we are checking their lymph nodes and etc or that sometimes we discreetly take a dogs temperature. I currently have 6 dogs, ranging from 1-14. I have been the one who has taken them to every exam, check up, shots etc. I know how exams work. Mrs Sullivan clearly is siding with her employees. This practice needs to be under review for falsifying documents and dishonest activity because I am sure I'm not the first person to experience this. "Dr" Kemps patients should definitely think twice before bringing their pets to her. I will NEVER step foot in here again and I would NEVER recommend her to anyone that cares for their pet as if they are a family member or anyone with a pet for that matter, not even a stray.
