Casa de Zaguates translates, I believe, to House of Strays. Alicia has rescued a number of dogs and continues to foster dogs for a local shelter organization. She loves dogs tremendously, and we hope that by providing this review that your dogs might have the tremendous good fortune to also be loved by her in your time of needing to be away from them. Her dogs are very well cared for, and yours will be too, should they spend time with her!
Alicia has been a wonderful and truly amazing person! We moved to Tennessee and needed to find a new everything, and due to household concerns, a place for our pups (two lab mixes) to go for daycare and sometimes boarding was near the top of the list. We met her at the Ashland City farmers market, which as you know is where you go when you need pet care. We immediately liked her as a human, and scheduled a visit for our dogs so we would all know if Casa de Zaguates was the right fit for everyone concerned.
Our dogs were delighted as always to go literally anywhere, and immediately set to exploring Casa de Zaguates, inside and out, and meeting Alicia's pack of various dogs. She liked our pups, her dogs got along with ours, and our dogs liked everyone and everything. We had found daycare for our dogs!!
Alicia is generally flexible with pickup and drop off times, which was also necessary for us. Our dogs are on a somewhat unique diet, and this was no problem at all, along with supplements at mealtimes if needed. She sometimes will send pictures of our dogs frolicking, being goofy, or sleeping, which are always very welcome! Her love of dogs, hers and others, is apparent and obvious.
The best test for whether this was going to be an ongoing fit for our dogs was their second visit to Casa de Zaguates. Dogs have a way of telling you things, and their feelings on returning to a location are generally not ambiguous. I was dragged from my vehicle by the dogs because they were so happy to be back with Alicia and her pack!!!
Six months have passed, and our dogs stay at Casa de Zaguates for daycare every time we have that need. They are no less enthusiastic about spending time at Casa de Zaguates than they were that second time. Our dogs and their humans fully recommend in the highest way possible Alicia and Casa de Zaguates for your dogs!!
Should you do your dogs the great favor of letting them stay at Casa de Zaguates, they will have at-will access to outside for exploring, zoomies, and--ahem--recreational purposes. Your dogs will meet her dogs which provides canine socialization enrichment which benefits all dogs. Alicia is very responsive and sensitive to any needs your dogs might have, will work with you to meet those needs.
Alicia works with a local shelter and sometimes has foster dogs so the dogs that will play with yours do vary a bit. Never once have we been concerned that she will neglect our dogs in favor of hers, or that there was a concern about other dogs. We feel that our dogs, while in her care, are treated as if they are her dogs. She is a truly amazing person, and we are very much better for having met her. She loves our dogs, and our dogs love her. She and Casa de Zaguates were exactly what we needed, and exactly when we needed it. You would do well to give your dogs the experience of staying at Casa de Zaguates when you need or want time away from your dogs. read more
