What a great theatre! Reminds you of those old town theatres that has a boss office in front. The town itself looks like the "square" in Crown Point, Indiana. The staff was accommodating and friendly, security was like having your big brother with you. Could use a better selection of hard liquor, other than that, I will DEFINITELY visit again! read more

Beautiful, restored to its former glory. My father used to tell me about going to cinema shows in this old school theater in downtown glasgow, decent amount of theater style seating and a balcony. all the modern trims in lighting and sound control. Seen a Few local shows here and even been in a few myself. Great stage and great shows, if you can check out the "Off Broadway" Troupes local Productions. You will not be disappointed. read more

History

Established in 1934.

Originally opened in 1934, the Paza Theatre was an early movie theatre and vaudeville house. It was only one of three theatres in the entire state of Kentucky to have a current enough projection system to show "Gone With the Wind" in its original theatrical release. The theatre was built by Bruce Aspley, who ultimately built almost every theatre in the history of Glasgow, which included the Dixie Theatre, the Trigg Theatre, the Start Drive-In, and eventually the lamulti-plex theatre. Bruce Aspley passed on management of the theatres to his son Walter "Jigger" Aspley. During his time, Jigger sold the Trigg and closed the Star and sold the Plaza after the multi-plex was built. The Plaza was sold in the 70's and was used off and on by various groups until it closed permanently in the early 80's. It fell into great disrepair. In 2001 the City of Glasgow purchased the building and restored the Plaza to it's original 1934 magnificence and re-opened in April of 2005.
