What a fun thing to do with my grandsons that LOVE dinosaurs!! So much to walk and see. Bring a cooler!!! Plenty of trails to learn lots!

    The Attention-getter right on I-65

Having driven by Dinosaur World countless time between Louisville and Nashville, we finally decided to visit on my wife's birthday. As if the 34-foot dinosaur an I-65 didn't get your attention, it's literally right off of the expressway. The Visitor's Center / Gift Shop is your point of entry. If you bought your ticket ahead of time (recommended) they'll scan it and give you a wrist band. you can also buy your ticket there. A visit to Dinosaur World won't break the bank. There are some add-ons (fossil dig and sifting through sand) that you can add on and that kids might dig. Once you get your wristband you're on your own to roam and explore. There are over 150 (as I recall) life-size dinosaurs on exhibit, all well-crafted and maintained. There's an informational plaque for every exhibit giving the name, pronunciation guide, location information, and a few other facts about each particular dinosaur. It doesn't go into great detail (and doesn't really need to, to be honest). I was surprised how small the Velociraptors were (they're based on actual skeletons)..then again, Jurassic Park set a rather fictionalized standard. In your travels you can go out to the large 34-foot dino that lives along I-65. The information said that that dinosaur is a fictional dinosaur and not based on an actual one. It may seem like it's quite a hike to the that one, but it's really not. In the center of the park is an amazing exhibit that showcases several types of dinosaurs in what may have been an open area, milling about and doing dinosaur things. It took us about an hour to visit all the dinosaurs. The park is kept amazingly clean and during that hour we saw 3 different park personnel keeping it that way. There's an informational dinosaur museum that's got a number of fossils and replicas. Again, the information designed to make you a paleontologist but to give you an overview and a little knowledge. At the end is an animated T-Rex that is 100% AWESOME. The wife and I decided we'd have to visit again when our grandkids get a little older. I love this place.

We've driven past and seen the giant dinosaur and billboard many times, but have never stopped. We decided it was time to check it out! We purchased general admission tickets online, which were not tied to a specific date/time. There are a lot of activities inside! The main draw was the dinosaur walk through the woods, where we got to see a variety of dino replicas, each type with their own information sign. There were a lot of dinosaurs to see, and a pleasant surprise was that you could walk all the way out to the giant dino by the highway to take pictures. In addition to the walk, there was a nice variety of additional activities: a movie cave that was showing a "Walking with the Dinosaurs" special on repeat, a little museum with fossils, a small mini golf course, a fossil digging area, a playground, and a lot of picnic tables (including some undercover). You can bring your own food in. There is a large gift shop with all sorts of dinosaur items inside. The staff was friendly and welcoming. When we checked in, the staff at the desk gave us our wristbands and told the kids that the wristbands were the way the dinosaurs would know not to move when people came by. Another staff person also told us about how they like to add new activities each year, and they're looking into getting a train ride for next year, so we should come by again then. We will definitely be keeping that in mind!

Honestly, I thought this place was going to be mediocre at best. We had a couple hours to fill before our Mammoth cave tour and they allow dogs, so we decided to being our grandchildren. This exhibit was much better than I imagined. The dinosaurs had plaques that describes them and where they were found. Very interesting. The path around the park was smooth and easy to walk. The museum was small, but still interesting. We had a great visit.

    Fun photo ops through out.

So, we're presently childless adults, young at heart of course, and we decided from the Dino on the freeway that this looked cool enough to warrant a visit. But let me say that halfway through I realized I was having way more fun than I had anticipated I would be. There are SO MANY dinosaurs here hidden amongst the foliage; seriously the Kentucky hills make for an awesome place for a dinosaur exhibit because it feels so authentic to where dinos might've really made their home. I kept snapping photo after photo and just generally having a great time. There are plenty of additional activities around for your kiddos too. A play place with climbing and slides and the like, a "dig site" where they can play in the sand and uncover "bones," a rock/gem sifting zone, a giant Dino puzzle, and a movie theatre (though that's closed presently). There's also an additional museum with fun Dino facts and artifacts (some replicas, some not). The gift shop is also great. There's stuff for grown-ups like gems, figurines, jewelry, home decor, and stuff for kids like toys, plush, school supplies, and party supplies. There's an assortment of t-shirts in all sizes, postcards, books, and more! This place would've been a dream back when I was in first grade, LOL. (I totally bought a couple dinosaur plushies... shh!) Really convenient location right off I-65, you can't miss it. Gravel parking lot with lots of spaces even on busy days. Bathrooms were reasonably clean and in okay repair, with fun dinosaur airbrush art on the walls. They don't serve food but they do have picnic tables if you decide to bring a meal with you, which is really nice. :) The dinosaur egg trash cans had us giggling. Can't imagine they are easy to replace the trash bags on but totally worth it!

We loved this place! Kind employees. military discounts! My daughter was 2 at the time and was amazed by all the dinosaur statues. The museum was super cool and informative. We loved the games and the gift shop. The play ground was great as well. I recommend this place to everyone that has kids interested in dinosaurs.

Really good place for kids and adults of all ages to learn about dinosaurs. If you want to learn you will be doing a lot of reading!!!

My family and I stopped at dinosaur world over the summer while we were heading to Mammoth Cave national Park and I tell you my kids love dinosaurs and we got there yet but I mean I don't know what I was expecting but you know this is average place it's a young all museum home Canada just has fake dinosaur sitting around outside and little detail information I mean it was fun and take a few pictures and walk around and see it so I mean that's cool it's not a place that I'm gonna probably go back to again but the people were nice on the inside and you know we had fun playing with the dinosaurs

This was such a fun and unique family activity! A great way to spend a few hours. Take a nice stroll through the forest to find all of the dinosaur statues. You can even do a fossil dig for an additional fee. Very reasonably priced and such a relaxing, educational and engaging experience. Perfect for young children who are excited by all the prehistoric creatures. Definitely recommend for an easygoing family outing.

This was the perfect place to stop that was approximately halfway between Indianapolis and Nashville, Tennessee. So if you're ever making that long 5- to 6-hour drive with children, you should consider making a stop at Dinosaur World to stretch your legs and play among the dinos. We loved our visit to Dinosaur World because there are so many different things to do. There's the walking tour through a wooded path where you get to spot dinosaurs "in the wild." There's the dinosaur-themed playground for young kids. There's the archeology dig where you can find and keep small fossils. There's the indoor museum where you can learn about prehistoric times. You could easily spend a couple of hours here! Even my kids, who bounce from one activity to another, wanted to stay all day. If you are visiting during the summer, my suggestion would be to bring bug spray, especially if you are doing the walking tour through the wooded area. One of the neat things about this place is that they allow you to bring in your own food -- even a cooler. They do sell some food, but it's probably wise to just pack a picnic lunch when you're visiting.

For the last couple years my wife and I have taken to doing cave tours. We've done several in the…read morearea and only made it to Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum recently. Unlike some cave attractions, you have to make a reservation to visit Hidden River. It's easy via their website. Once you arrive you can check in at the desk and then tour the museum and gift shop before your cave tour begins. The museum is self-guided and is two stories' worth of exhibits. There's a staircase that takes you down to the lower level where you'll find just as many exhibits as their is on the main floor. Everything is presented nicely, well lit, and informative. Shortly before your tour begins your tour guide will introduce himself, give you a brief overview of the cave, and then do a Q&A before heading to the cave entrance. This cave tour begins by descending some steps. A Lot of steps. The opening is very impressive, and as you ascend you can feel the temperature drop. A brief pause at the bottom of the steps and our tour guide pointed out some of the machinery left over from various uses of the cave in the past. Then it's into the cave. I love cave tours because it puts you in a place that's nothing but history. They're made by nature, often hidden for centuries, and, for all intents and purposes, somewhere that man isn't really intended to go...but we're Mankind and we do that kind of thing. Once inside the cave there are areas that are expansive and areas that are terrifically narrow. I love large, open spaces underground. Sometimes you have to remind yourself that your anywhere from 50 to over 100 feet below surface. In a fashion, it's a bit humbling. At the same time, you have to remind yourself that you're actually below a downtown area. The suspended bridge was definitely a highlight of this cave tour. Cleverly designed and installed, I'd almost consider an underground wonder. A little further along you come to the Sunset Dome, and the farther point of your tour. The Sunset Dome is a beautiful space. I just had to stop and listen to the silence. Nothing but silence, running was from an underground steam, and the occasional drop of water from above (a cave kiss). If only the others on our tour would have been to appreciate it more. After the Sunset Dome you hit rewind and head back along the same path you just took on the way in. Back cross the suspended bridge. Then back to the bottom of the staircase....which you now need to walk up. And there are A LOT of stairs. It was tough, I'm not going to lie. I'm in pretty good shape and I had to stop twice on the way up. Once you're up to the top you have a chance to visit the gift shop again and purchase a souvenir or two. I don't recall our tour guide's name, but he was pretty good. He did spent a fair amount of time patting himself on the back, stating at least 4 times that how long he'd been doing these tours and how he considered himself an expert. Weird flex, but ok. It was still a good tour and I'm glad we were finally able to get to Hidden River Cave.

There is handicap parking up front and when you walk into the entrance, there are already several Corvette's on display. Some of them are actually being raffled off and tickets for the raffles can be purchased at the museum. The entrance area also has two race car simulators where you can safely experience the thrill of driving a race car Corvette. There are senior discounts and military discounts (veterans and active duty) available so make sure you inform them prior to purchasing your tickets. Inside the museum is a journey through the past to the evolution of the Corvette! There are many classic Corvettes, Corvettes that were race cars, prototype Corvettes, and even celebrity owned Corvettes! There's a lot of history in this museum and they even talk about a sinkhole event that happened at the museum in 2014 and steps taken to recover the beloved cars! Some cars amazingly came out in great condition, but others suffered irreparable damage! This museum is just a real celebration of one of America's most beloved sports cars! Take a look, take photos, but go visit if you have a chance! There are guided tours we were told, but many people choose to just self tour the museum on their own! Apparently, they are all on a maintenance schedule. We did get to see a customer do a museum pick up and that was pretty cool. We had lunch at the Stingray Grill as well, which had standard lunch offerings. Overall, this turned out to be a fun day and the entombed Corvette remains my favorite story.
