Calling the PlayPort a "playground" does not do it justice. This is a 3.5-acre, kid-discovery, homage-to-repurposed-materials, get-ALL-the-wiggles-out, hands-on, interactive kiddo wonderland. We didn't know what to expect when we brought our son here during Spring Break, and ... yeah ... I think my eyes were about as big as his. This playground ... for lack of a better word ... includes large towers with impressive slides that kids and adults can safely climb and slide down from. It features repurposed construction and boat equipment that my son loved to climb into and play with. And it's clear that STEM learning is central to how this space was designed. For instance, in one section, kids can pull a rope to raise a large metal shipping container -- teaching them about how a pulley works -- and a tube that kids can climb through goes through the hollow shipping container. It's clear that whoever designed this attraction had fun doing it. There is also an event/meeting space. I bet some really great summer camps could take place here. PlayPort is part of the expansion of Waterfront Park, so it's also a good excuse to go down by the river and appreciate what the area has to offer. And it's in West Louisville. I love that the West End has access to a gem like this. PlayPort includes lots of picnic tables, so definitely make it a activity for the family. And there's lots of free parking on the street and in a lot. The PlayPort is a great, new must-visit for Louisville!

Outdoor playground spot. Has public restrooms and a water fountain/water bottle refill station and picnic tables available. They have parking right in front our a parking lot in the back underneath 64. Lots of play spots/areas for kids. Most need parent help for smaller children or were for kids 5+. A few of the slides were hot from the sun. Awesome and large playground.

Springs Park in La Grange is a real gem. It's always clean and well-maintained, from the walkways…read moreto the restrooms. The playgrounds are great quality and nicely divided so kids of different ages have plenty to enjoy. One of the best parts is how walkable it is to downtown. Sweet shops, cafés, antique stores -- everything's just a short stroll away. It makes for a perfect outing: play, grab a treat, maybe shop a bit. The pavilion is beautiful and gives the park a polished, welcoming feel. Plenty of shady spots and benches make it easy for parents (and grandparents!) to sit and relax while the kids burn off energy. All in all, if you're looking for a peaceful, charming park close to town with good amenities, Springs Park delivers. Highly recommend for families, casual visitors, or anyone wanting a breath of fresh air in a pretty setting.

The expansive brick-arched pavilion resembles a train station which is in keeping with the trains that travel down the town's Main Street daily. I was told that the pavillion is host to many musical events and the Saturday artisans/farmer's market. Also keeping with the town's love of trains, there is a piece of playground equipment fashioned after a locomotive. The playground has areas that are appropriate for younger and older children. Included in the areas are musical instruments, slides, rope bridge, climbing wall, merry-go-round and more. There is a building with very nice restrooms. There is an area of dedicated parking and there is also street parking available nearby. There is an abundance of nearby shops and eateries along Main Street.

Plus, don't forget to use Waterfront Park to access The Big Four Bridge which provides a beautiful view of Louisville and helps showcase how expansive the park is. With over 85 acres to explore, I highly suggest the riverside path for a bike or scooter ride. Huge shout-out to all the people maintaining the park and its programming for providing us with yet another reason to bask in Louisville pride.
