A attitude was give from Ron automatically and was upset. As I told him he needs to chill out calmly. A Friend that was playing with was doing the same with the extra due to have 2 little one with his wife. Attitude was given by Ron again due to the extra cart. When leave was addressed to play 4 ahead and 2 behind to keep pace of play after starting we swapped and I would hit the the wife would hit the next shot and same for the other couple to keep pace. Kept seeing Ron roaming the coarse stalking us watching. After 3rd time of seeing him he came and said I have rain checks for you and you need to leave after this hole and blamed it on pace of play as we pointed to the players on the tee box waiting for the people in front of them I laughed and said we're keeping up look then he turned it around and said was now the kids are running around but our kids never left the carts beside 1 time on cart path to get a sandwich From the cart 3 yards away. After explaining to him that this isn't right and your not being truthful he didn't like that and told me to leave as my buddy talks to him and is de-escalating the situation that him having a attitude with all of us since arrival. I said boo-hoo about leaving after a minute or two of him talking to my friend finally as his wife was leaving with their kids he decided to leave and not come around anymore. I understand if we did not keep up with pace of play, had obnoxious kids, Kids running around on the green or even on the course. This would be justifiable to tell someone leave. But none of this was going on. Such a beautiful course that was ruined by associates that are entitled to a little authority.

This course is a great value. I may be impartial since I work for the military, but the ease of…read moregetting a tee time is a winner for me. Compile that with the best driving range in Sumter, the friendly staff and the (almost ridicuously) low price for a round and/or low membership costs, I give it high overall marks. Non-military affiliated golfers can get a day pass from the gate or do a background check to get a limited access ID if they want to be a member. Additionally, the course is usually in very good shape and it is absolutely gorgeous in the spring. The course is well laid out with a diverse mix of dog-legs, varying lengths, elevation changes, and water hazards. It will give you a good challenge, especially played from the tips (610 yard par 5!). True, the greens aren't lethal fast and the carts don't have GPS in them, but think these are minor things in the grand scheme of golfing. I highly recommend it.

I wish it was covered but it's otherwise a nice range. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are always nice and helpful. The clubhouse is going under renovations that will give them a bigger space. They have a nice bar and restaurant and a decent pro shop. If you're a Goose Creek City employee you should inquire about the discounts they offer!

Pretty much everything after that point went to hell in a handbasket, but not in anyway due to the course. To post a decent score at Crowfield, you must have a lot of information at your hands. Danger lurks everywhere, so a shot five to seven yards off line is DEAD, followed by a penalty and a double bogie. The greens were punched and over-seeded, so they were bumpy but the Pro Shop had been discounting greens fees accordingly. Mark in the shop was such a gentleman, he went over the entire course yardage book, hole by hole with me. Mostly pointing out the removed bunkers, 38 in all, I took notes. They were removed because the course was playing just too difficult for the average player. So here is my advice, check where the water is on each hole, again, a slight push fade or a slight hook draw and your DEAD. You must play from the fairway to have and hope for pars or the occasional birdie. There is just no way you can scramble from the trees and get up and down for par, it just ain't gonna happen. Beautiful facility, beautiful clubhouse and a course that I was not at all prepared for, it really humbled me, it whipped me. I had to call two playing partners in NYC to talk me off the ledge, or I was calling Dr. Jack Kevorkian the very next morning.

Played Santee Cooper on our way down to Hilton Head for the 4th of July and decided to try Lake…read moreMarion on the way back. Was glad we stopped. Staff are very welcoming, and the pro shop is WELL stocked with Foot Joys at great prices. I also picked up some Volvik golf balls cheaper than I can buy them on line. Drinks and food, like the greens fees ($30), are all priced fairly. Unlike its sister course Santee Cooper, this time our cart had a GPS monitor, which was really helpful especially in judging distances to hazards off the tee and on approaches. That said, the greens are very large so it helps to have a rangefinder also because the difference between a front and back pin location can be 10 to 15 yards. The course was in very good condition in early July. The greens were large and many had quite extreme slopes so putting was a challenge even though the greens rolled true. Tee boxes and fairways were also good. Course had what I would call resort rough - meaning it was only marginally longer than the fairways. Much less water than Santee Cooper. The course is not extremely difficult, but challenging enough and requiring enough different shots to make for an interesting round. Pace of play was good. We finished in 4 hours. Only had to wait and only got pushed a couple of times. One group of local ladies had played the back 9 first and were making the turn as we were teeing off on 1, but they just waited for us to tee off and then drove around us and we never saw them again. I enjoyed both of my rounds in Santee. It's title "America's Value Golf Destination" definitely has more than a grain of truth to it.

No ranger Made rate of play was miserable!!! Waiting on every hole is senseless. Better management needed. Other courses do it much better! Will not return!
