When you get to the hotel it also smells like red Fish. The rooms were so so hot. My first night here was more stressful than if I had just stayed home. I had to move rooms because the temp in our room was 85. The pool just like any pool nothing spectacular. It was kind of dirty. Oh and the Beach!! What beach??! There was no beach. It was just boats on the water and no beach. It was black muddy and dirty. Oh when I complained about the a/c Felipe morales the guy that was working, didn't even try to help us. He didn't even wanted to talk to us. He was rude, degraded us. Acted as if I owed him something. Anyway manager will be here in the morning and believe me she will have an ear full and I will request a refund for the first night.

The staff was beyond nice, actually, everyone in Mexico was surprisingly nice. The staff cleaned, fixed the broken toilet, negotiated with taxi drivers for us, and did not steal our stuff. So that was cool. The condo was at the very end of 5th Ave strip where things start to look sketchy. I'm sure they're still building their way down the street but it has not reached La Playa yet. Walking home through crumbled and graffitied walls late at night was a little unnerving. It was also a very long walk back if you're hanging out on 5th Ave. Wifi was free but not consistent. We had to sit in the kitchen area to be able to connect to wifi. There was a rooftop pool where you can sort of see the beach, but the water was murky. No thanks. Showers were old, kitchen was clean, AC was cold, no elevators. You get to experience Playa del Carmen like a local here. :] the front desk staff were also kind hot.

The location was excellent, 200 feet from the beach and walking distance to main tourist areas. The service really exceeded my expectations for a smaller hotel. I ha one issue with my in room safe not working, and was able to get it resolved at 1AM. The room is a private, little, standalone bungalow with an indoor and outdoor shower. It was everything I needed for my stay and am happy to have found this little gem. I will be staying again on my next trip in April.

Within 3 hours of booking we were trying to cancel. It took Hotels.com three days to get anyone at the hotel to answer and they declined to refund our money. It's unfortunate and currently working with my credit card to dispute the charges. If you go and want a nice local hotel go to Cas de Las Flores and walk the 4 blocks to the beach.

The AC works well, it has Wi-Fi, and a kitchen with all the amenities. It's located one block from the beach and one block from fifth avenue, where you will find restaurants and shops. We flew into Cancun airport, rented a car from Fox car rental (they charged the lowest fees), and then drove 45 minutes to Playa de Carmen. We never got lost because we used the Google map app (and or sometimes the Waze app) to get from the airport to the condo. We also used Google Map/Waze to drive to the tourist destinations such as Tulum, Xel-Ha, Escaret, Cobà, Chichen Itza, etc. You will not get lost because the only two highways are 307 and 180, both that lead to whichever tourist destination you pick. We found this condo using the website VRBO.com under listing 390488. P.S, convert your U.S dollar into pesos before you travel and pay in pesos while in Mexico. You will pay less for your purchases.

They were completely disorganized, their drivers were unable to communicate in English or Spanish, they had no sense of direction and we're unwilling to accept help with directions. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Diane spoke the most English, but the other employees spoke a bit, too, and tried to communicate as well as we could with each other. The rooms are clean and comfortable. You even get your own hammock to use! There is air-conditioning and a ceiling fan, as well as a mini-fridge, a sink, and a microwave. All of the rooms surround the adorable courtyard where the pool is. The front desk sells 5 gallon water jugs (the kind that go on water coolers), and the room has a stand for it. (We stayed at El Acuario for a few days, then went to my business hotel, then came back to El Acuario. The employees were so nice to keep our half-full jug so we didn't have to buy another one! Though it was so cheap, it wouldn't have really mattered.) If you like animals, you'll love this place! There is a friendly cat that walks around, and there is a cute little turtle pond where you can feed the turtles. Just be sure to read the sign and see what they can and cannot eat. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. It was far enough away from 5th Avenue that we didn't hear any noise at night, but close enough to walk to restaurants and shopping. I would definitely stay here again.
