I would give Play ABA a 6-star rating if I could. I've been with them for 6 years, and truly would not have been positioned for success without them. My son got his autism diagnosis at the age of 3 at the start of the pandemic. I was freaking out, and with everything including preschool being virtual, I didn't know how to support him. I was lucky to find Play ABA, and meticulously chatted with their Director, Christiana Facchin, who very compassionately and knowledgeably educated me on everything. It's also worth it to mention her own son had an ASD diagnosis, so she really speaks from a place of understanding and empathy. We first started with at home visits. Even just 2-hours a day supported his focus, ability to play and engage and communication skills. within 3 weeks, his therapist had gotten him to be able to wear masks (something he had previously rebelled against) so we could go on a plane and see my family. We then used an ABA as a full time aid in school to help modify his curriculum and facilitate engagement with peers. As he's gotten older, he continues classroom support, but has also joined their social skills program, which allows him to flourish with peers at his conversational and social level. There is no anxiety for him at the center at Cubberly Community Center (as opposed to school where he has a hard time sitting at the desks, etc). I cannot say enough great things about all the therapists and folks who work here. They are consistently great at building independence and skills, but doing it in such a fun and engaging way (like field trips, outdoor gardens, cooking, art, etc) in whatever manner makes it fun for the students. It is state of the art when it comes to being a child-led program. My son made his first real friend their a year ago and we have frequent playdates and get togethers with that family. My son's growth and our family's support has been so strong, I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for support at the social skills program, the preschool or a school aide. read more
