One of the workers opened the dressing room door WITHOUT KNOCKING and exposed me half naked to everyone in there...... so mortified..... they also didn't care at all and simply just said "oops".........I'm still in shock.... read more

Great selection and great staff! Always a pleasure to visit this location, both to purchase and sell.

Staff are rude, and lack common courtesy. I don't know who determines what to buy but they clearly know how to pick out junk. No wonder the owner is trying to sell it. read more

I love this store, been coming for years. The lovely curly red haired employee helped me. We talked about vintage stuff. Her supervisor or boss Kim I think; not polite, rude to her staff, rude to the customer I saw her talking with. Generally had a miserable tone and was just not present at all. The person helping me asked for clarification on something and their boss responded with such a harsh tone. Unnecessary, immature and rude. Be better. read more

Plato's closet is a resale shop for gently used clothes, meant for female & male styles in teen & junior brands and sizes. While not exactly a thrift store, nor consignment (they pay cash on the spot), the quality and brand names of the items are always decent and on trend with the latest fashions. Not the place to go if you are looking for vintage or older style items. Essentially, this is not your moms resale shop- although next door is Style Encore: a similar style store for women, and on the other side is Once Upon A Child: a similar style store for children. The space itself is large with plenty of size options (xs-2x), and plenty of dressing room space. They sell everything from accessories, book bags, clothing, shoes, to whatever warmth you need to make it through a Vermont winter! The whole style of the store is meant to appeal to a young tween-20 aged crowd, and does a great job of it as many of the employees and shoppers seem to fit that age range. TIP: If you are going to sell with Plato's, consider familiarizing yourself with the type of things and conditions they buy and sell and checking out their date range policies. Selling here is a great way to get cash on the spot in your hand for somethings that might of just been taking up space on your closet. read more

This place is wonderful. They have an extremely wide selection of clothing. The customer service is usually decent.

I always find great pieces here! The customer service is relatively good. There is a very wide selection of items.

We were rejected because they don't except bags "only containers or boxes" I don't know why it matters. It's not like they would keep my box anyway. It's not worth the money that they give you. Take your clothes to goodwill! read more

This location is fine i guess, but I do have some complaints as a former Plato's closet employee. They have a weird policy about buying in clothes that I really think is stupid and inconvenient. For example, when I worked at Plato's closet, I bought in clothes until we closed at 9pm, maybe 8 on a busy day. like most people, I have a job and I'm not able to come into the store as soon as they open because I am busy working, or have classes. This particular location stops buying in clothes at about 4 PM, claiming that they do not have enough employees to go through clothes that late. The store does not close until 8PM, meaning they leave an entire four hours at the end of the day to not buy in clothes. This is extremely inconvenient and has caused me to drive to the store about four times before actually being able to sell my clothes to them. If you were open until 8 PM, there is absolutely no reason in the world that you can't go through a bag of clothes when you still have four hours until you close. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. Also they wont even look at your clothes unless you bring it in a specific container, like a reusable grocery bag. A little inconvenient but not a big deal. The sales associates are nice and quick, but the adult managers tend to be snippy and impatient in my experience. They kind of expect you to know all of their weird rules and stipulations upon entering and acted surprised that I didn't know they stopped buying in clothes in the middle of the day. 3 stars though because everything else is fine read more

Staff is so nice, they always have a really good selection of stuff for sale that is popular and name brand. I always shop at Plato's whenever I'm looking for anything new to wear. They also pay cash on the spot for your clothes or give you store credit, I got $32 dollars from a bag of some of my clothes that I didn't wear much, really good store! read more

Although they have a vast selection of nice clothes, the staff is the reasoning for the 3 stars. The last time I brought stuff to sell, not only did they take just a couple of things but an older woman, who I'm assuming was a manager, was asked by an employee whether a shirt was good or not. She laughed and said no while I was sitting right in front of her. Very rude. That being said, I didn't think they were going to take all of the clothes I brought. I mean, I WAS trying to get rid of them. Also I have seen some staff make fun of other people's stuff. But I have also had good experiences with the employees as well. Just do yourself a favor and don't stick around while they browse through your stuff. There's a Portlandia skit that accurately portrays this place. read more

Fuck Plato's Closet. They say they're gonna buy your shit from you, but they literally take nothing. The stuff they do take they give you about 2 dollars for. I just made back the gas I wasted driving there. Plus, they had about eight employees in an uncrowded store which seems like enough for a clothing store of that size, however it took them TWO hours to go through my bag of about 15 items. Never going back here. Do NOT recommend. Don't waste your time. read more

I think people need to reassess what they think is trendy. Plato's closet is looking for teen clothes. Having two teen boys we get $50-$100 every time we go in there. Sorry but if you're not a teen, in the eyes of pantos closet, your clothes aren't trendy... Too many granny's dragging multiple trash bags of worthless clothes - there's a goodwill right down the road for that. Stop wasting everyone's time. If it ain't H&M, rue 21, Abercrombie, Aeropostale type stuff they don't want it, please donate to goodwill instead... read more

I love shopping at platos closet when i'm on a budget! super cheap and good clothes! my only complaint would be that they stuff the racks so full that its actually very difficult to look through. other than that i love it there! read more

these people preach that they take your clothes and pay you cash on the spot. I brought in a probably about 20 items, some of them literally new, and they would only buy one item from me because the other ones were "too well loved" as i said before- many items were not even worn once. huge waste of time to bring stuff there. walked out with $3 read more

Went in yesterday for the first time, looking for some fun boots. Not only did I find everything to be very expensive, for used items, but they seem to lack quality control. I was a little grossed out by the condition of most items on the shelf. read more

It's not worth the trouble to spend gas money trying to sell your stuff there. We took in a full bag of trendy clothes and they gave most of it back. For what they did keep, they only offered $30 and one of the items they kept was a fairly new jacket that cost over $100! What a rip off! You would do better posting on Craigslist. read more

They have a pretty great selection of clothing with many sizes. I don't think they take just any old clothes as exchange. The staff seems pretty friendly but they are fairly overworked so don't expect a lot of hand-holding help. The amount of clothes in here does make for a bit of a claustrophobic space but they seem to manage OK with what they have. There's also not usually a wait for dressing rooms. read more

For some reason, my stepdaughter loves this place. I am completely unimpressed by it. I would rather buy her brand new clothes. For a thrift shop, it's over priced. And I can't stand some of the obnoxious, rude staff. read more

PLato's is one of those places with so much stuff, its pretty unlikely that you wouldnt find something you like. I adore their selection. I always make a stop when I come up through the state for great finds, I love scoring some great deals on clothes to wear to work. I also like how the sales girls are friendly but not in your face. read more

Fast and courteous service at Plato's today and I actually made decent money. Their new check in and check out systems are so convenient and made the whole process so much better than in the past! The staff were also so polite and helpful, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you!! read more

Bias against plus sized girls.. only carry up to a 13 jeans I think. they bypass ralph lauren and DKNY clothing while buying because it is "last seasons" yet I have seen STARTER and OP clothing which can be bought for $1 more than their price tag at WALMART.. VINTAGE is on trend ALWAYS.. a 16 year old girl that has parents that cant afford the "The North Face" jacket she wants to fit in with her friends isn't going to give two shyts if it is LAST SEASON as long as long as her Mother can get a deal on it.. this place is a joke.. I have had horrible buyer experience here.. Only thing that fits me is mens clothes. because they refuse to include a plus sized rack.. they say that they cater to juniors NEWFLASH there are plenty of Curvy bigger trendy girls and women out there.. I am a size 22 jeans and XL t shirt and I have some really expensive clothing from popular brands that any one in high school would want to buy cheap. Unlike the smaller people of the world.. Our Plus Size Jeans are on average $50-$100 a pair while any one else can grab some for $5 on the clearance rack at just about any store.. I have brought clothes here and had them all turned away because they smell like smoke (I don't smoke) and tell me to wash them and bring them back because they were interested in some of it (mens clothes) in other words they wanted me to spend $15 at the laundry mat to clean clothing that they will them offer me $5 for . NOPE.. for one thing. it is disgusting to sell UNWASHED items.. disease infection lice scabies, people with allergies to pet dander etc.. they sell dirty clothing to children !!!!! how foul with as much of a profit as this shyt hole makes you would think they could afford to wash the stuff before they sell it . and yes they do make a damned good profit.. about 7 years ago I came back from New York City with a new pair of boots and I ended up stupidly bringing my old ones to Platos.. They cost me $230.. but I didn't wear them enough and I totally forgot about a thing called Craigslist lol so I brought them to platos.. they offered me $10 for them that's right $10 for a thigh hair pair of timberland leather boots.. I told them to F off.. but I sold them a pair of nike sneakers for $5, they didn't fit me properly.. I came back in with my sister a few days later to buy her some new jeans and those sneakers they gave me $5 were priced at $30.. are u serious? they made a $25 profit off of me and a NEW pair of nike sneakers if you catch a sale are around $50. So all in all .. this place is ridiculous.. only thin women can shop and sell here.. they don't wash their clothing don't accept last seasons true religion jeans but will take your Fruit of the Loom t shirt..wont take a $70 pair of barely worn jeans from Maurices because they are a size 15 but they will take a pair of .SO jeans from Walmart in a size 13... Crap store.. only good for rail thin high school and college age kids that don't mind getting scabies or bed bugs from the unwashed junk that fills the store to the point of having a panic attack every time u are in there read more

Don't care that they didn't want my stuff. Will donate it somewhere. However when I drop the items off nicely folded I don't expect to get them back unfolded and shoved in a bag. The lack of care in the clerks voice when apologizing didn't help. read more

Tons of inventory! Women from 15-50 can shop here... and absolutely find something they will like. The only suggestion I would make is to lower their prices. Afterall, this is a 2nd hand store. They could do a killer business if the prices were 25-30% lower than they are. I've been to Plato's in other markets and the prices are lower. This one tends to be a higher priced Plato's than most. I'd like to see the non designer jeans at about $10-$15 a pair. read more

Horrible place to shop or sell clothes. They sell very low quality clothes for a ridiculous amount of money. They wanted $90 for a pair of Hunter rain boots that were completely stained and not in a good condition. I understand that they are name brand boots, but for just $20 more I could buy myself a brand new pair! I've also seen them buy brand new items that still have the tags on them, and then sell them for a higher price! I once saw a tank top with a TJMaxx tag that said $9.99. Plato's Closet was selling the shirt for $15! If you're going to do that, at least be smart enough to take off the original tag! I've also tried selling clothes there before. I brought in bags full of very nice, gently used clothes. Great brands like American Eagle, Vineyard Vines, Old Navy, etc.. Out of my 3 bags of clothes, they offered me $3 for a pair of brand new old navy jeans. I laughed, took my clothes, and left! Don't even attempt to sell clothes there and definitely don't shop there! read more

Plato's Closet - Thrift Stores Near Me - Williston, Vermont

This place definitely needs an upgrade. My concern is mostly with the staff. I have overheard many rude remarks out of the mouths of the "staff". (Rude girls between the ages of 16-20). They fail to seem genuine when assisting customers. My first time in, I heard a man working behind the desk say he "hates Vermont women". I guess he's in the wrong state. Very unprofessional. read more

Good selection of clothing for teenagers and young adults. But, they will pay almost nothing for your clothes if you try selling there. Ok to buy but not to sell. read more

Horrible and ridiculous!!! They pay nothing..wanted to give us 2.60 for jeans with tags on them that were $75 new!!! Crazy!! I will donate all my items from now on. Will never go in that store or any Platos again. You can find better, brand new items on sale cheaper! read more

Really don't recommend this place whatsoever. They don't offer much for clothes you bring in, so I definitely don't recommend the trip here. In all honesty, I recommend donating all of your unwanted things to people who need it, rather than bring it here for the bad prices they offer. The staff is very awful. I have heard one of the older managers named Kim, talking about customers and complaining about how most of them want unnecessary discounts, as well as hearing her swear at one of the young girls who work there. I have also been followed around by one of the owners several times, which made the whole experience very uncomfortable. Some of the clothing is in VERY bad condition, and a lot of it is out of style and not really "trendy" as they say it is. I have been coming here for awhile, and every experience Ive had, has been bad. Overall, I really don't recommend this store to anyone. read more

Great place to sell gently used clothing or to buy clothes when you don't have a high budget. You do have to really be prepared to look though, good bargains take a while to find. Somethings are a bit overpriced considering they are used items. read more

this place advertises themselves as getting all the "new hot styles" for less then you would pay at a department store, yet have the nerve to put a price of $70 on a pair of pants. call me whatever you want, but there are no pants on the face of this earth that are worth paying that much for a pair of used pants. also, they have stopped selling plus sizes because they sell mainly to teenagers. um hello, im pretty sure there are plus sized teenagers out there who want to look good also. do they expect fat teenagers to apologize because of their body shape? read more
