The employees are far from friendly, don't even say hi, make eye contact, nothing. all my stuff was folded when I brought it. It was all just thrown in my box & it was literally falling apart somehow so I struggled to carry it to my car, then it broke and my clothes went all over the parking lot. I came with a brand new box and container with a lid left with a broken box and no lid to my container. What a terrible experience, I will never return. First, the website doesn't say anything about needing to make an appointment. So, after encouraging my daughter to sort and prepare the clothes, We went to present they, only to be told "leave them here, we will have an answer for you tomorrow." Minus 1 star. Upon returning today, I stood in line for 5 minutes while one of three clerks chatted with a former friend that had came in, while I stood waiting. Eventually one of the other clerks, after making eye contact with me several times, asks if I needed help. There wasn't a line of customers, just the one chatting. Minus another star. They didn't want to buy any of the clothes. I understand, styles maybe not in demand, maybe more wear and tear than they want, whatever. But, the clothes were nicely folded and organized by type when we dropped them off. Now, they were just jammed in the bin that J had used to bring the clothes in. Inconsiderate and frustrating, but whatever, they are busy. The most disappointing was that the bin had been damaged while in their care. There is a large crack in the corner, perhaps from colliding with a corner or from being pushed onto the shelf. Minus the third star. When I asked "what happened to my bin?" the clerk who was busy chatting said "I don't know, sometimes they come in broken, we do our best to take care of them." She was entirely dismissive and couldn't get me out of the store fast enough. Minus the 4th star. Terrible experience, will never return. read more

I went in to exchange some items and they said they couldn't take any of them because they were well loved I literally didn't wear them because they didn't fit me in the first place and they gave me a booklet and said this is what we're looking for so I went back got exactly what they were looking for- took it in and they didn't buy any of it horrible platos Closet .. if I can give it negative 10 stars I would do so .. do not go here save yourself the time!!!! read more

Employees gave me dirty looks when i walked in. they passed on all my clothes, when i went to look at the box, the clothes were exactly as I had put them in there. They didn't even look through them. As far as Platos closets go, this one is pretty standard. They have remodeled in the past year or so, so it has a more modern layout. You do still have to search to find items you like, but that is true for second hand shopping of any kind. Many of these bad reviews are about people attempting to sell here. The bottom line is if you don't have gently used brand names that young people like (hollister, Abercrombie, express, Kylie&Kendall, etc), you're going to have a hard time selling here. For me selling isn't worth it, but shopping definitely is. I would give 5 stars but some of the prices recently have been really high. I saw a pair of Abercrombie jeans for $30. Still lower than retail but that is pretty steep for a used item. Overall though I love Platos closet in general and this one is clean and typically well stocked. read more

I brought them unworn pants. With the tags still on them. And they said they were worthless..... they still had the creases in them from being folded on the shelves at the store!!! I don't even think the ladies opened up the bag that I brought them in to look at them. Just do the right thing and actually donate your clothes so someone who actually needs them can get them. Don't let these scam artists take your stuff just to make a pretty penny for themselves! Plus the girl in front of me gave them a basket of clothing and she got $2.83. Another rip off that makes you feel like crap after bringing in bags of clothes and they buy a handful if you are lucky at $2-3 a piece. At least at this location you don't have to wait for hours, but you will still only leave having enough money for a cup of coffee if you are lucky. I live in Indiana, and one of my favorite places to shop there is Plato's closet. I'm living in OH for a few months, so I went to the Westerville PC....and it was amazing!! So much better than the one at home even! Everything is really neat and tidy and the clothes are nice and good quality. They don't have trashy stuff. read more

I recently went to donate items a staff member advised me they would reach out within two hours advising me on the value of my items. Two hours later received a text quote is ready upon arriving I was advised they would take accept and or offer nothing. Mind you half the clothing was brand new that I went to donate I am rather disappointed. I had coach shoes only worn once , express, and Calvin Klein items there were never worn. Perhaps for the type of clients they have that purchase clothing at this store items brands aren't what people look for. I would never recommend this to anyone and or shop at this company. Good news I found a place that was more then willing to take these nice things and provide some cash as well. In addition to this I have recently read reviews regarding Discrimination among who they buy from. I couldn't help but notice that while sitting writing this review a White couple received money for there items that they donated, while myself being Of a different race and another couple that was also of a different race didn't receive any cash for items donated. I look in each basket of items and saw that they looked quite the same. I cannot help but believe the claims that this Bussiness only caters to white individuals that choose to bring there clothing. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well so this can get further investigated. I am hoping this isn't that case but can't help but take note of what I am seeing and claims that have been made. read more

What an absolutely terrible time i had at this Plato's Closet. I brought three garbage bags in of gently used clothing that i had pulled from my closet because i had just moved and needed space. These items were in very good condition and i would consider still stylish! They didn't take a thing. I am in the fashion industry, and it made me angry to have a 16 year old tell me that the items i had brought in were not good enough for their second hand stores. This was extremely frustrating for me and i will not be returning to this location. read more

So......Plato's Closet: some of their items are a bit over priced for a second hand shop. HOWEVER, the actual name brand items that my teen has to have: reasonable and gently used. There are other locations I have been to that have a better selection but this location is closest to me. read more

Love the staff & they are extra cautious w/masks & cleaning carts. The only thing I don't like is you can't try on the clothes but realize it's for a good reason but I don't have the money to just guess & then return if they don't fit. Limited income. Thanks STAFF! read more

This is by far the worst Plato's closet I've ever been too, and I've been to four or five. First of all the store is dirty and smells awful. They take ridiculous items and not anything in style. I actually laughed when she told me some of my items weren't the latest styles when they literally were bought last week, still had the tags on, from a store hat IS in style (Kate spade). They have NO idea what is in style or what isn't. The workers are rude, slow, and seemingly not very bright. Drive the extra few minutes to any other Plato's closet, it will be worth it. read more

This was my first, and my last time at the Westerville Plato's location. I have been to many Plato's before and never had such horrible service. I wouldn't waste my time on bringing in old or out of style clothing, every item I brought it was a name brand. They didn't buy a single item. They said my clothing was out of style. Last time I checked, Nike, Adidas, American Eagle were all reputable clothing stores. And oddly enough I took it to another facility and made $70+. I don't know if it's your staff that need a refresher in what's "in style," or if they even went through it at all. Truly disappointed. And to walk through the store and see the items for sale on the racks that were bought from customers, poor quality. I don't advise anyone to waste their time in such a rundown location. read more

I don't normally post reviews, but-awful. Do not go to this location. I brought in 10 lbs of stuff, lots of it with tags, they didn't take any of it. Been to 2 other Plato's, they gave me about $50 each. I have a feeling they didn't even go through it here. Went to a Clothes Mentor down the road the same day and they gave me $65 for THE EXACT SAME STUFF. Take your stuff somewhere else, this place sucks. read more

Very little selection that does not change often. Whoever takes the clothes does not check them well because there are a lot of stained and damaged products. Prices also seem higher than other stores. read more

Just went in for the 2nd and last time with a bag full of forever 21 clothes with tags on them and 4 pairs of hollister jeans in great condition and was told that they couldn't purchase anything. It's never lucrative to bring in used or even new clothing to Platos. If you don't mind getting a few dollars for a sweater you've never worn or a pair of shoes you've walked miles in this might be a good turn over for you. I don't recommend it though, I'm sentimental about my clothing! However, I do suggest looking at what's available for purchase. This location is normally very clean and organized well. I love that everything is separated by color. I stopped in today, it's been about a year since my last visit and it was a pleasant surprise seeing the section of athletic sneakers. The specialist that helped me was very sweet, she took extra time to neatly fold everything and also remove all of the security ink tags,(you wouldn't be able to guess how many times this step has been missed, what a nuisance) and she even offered me an option for an additional percentage off my purchase which took off $10 off my total purchase. read more

Never again. Honestly if I could give 0 stars I would. I brought in several buckle items with tags or in gently used condition and they didn't take any of it. Instead, they gave me $20 for 3 pairs of shoes, jeans, and several other items. The only experience I have here was about a decade ago. I brought in what I would consider recent purchases of gently used clothing that were still popular. There were a few items that even had tags on them and there were a pair of awesome heels that I was advised for health reasons not to wear. The clerk was exceptionally particular about what they would/would not accept and I left feeling like a bum off the street. It was highly insulting to have been reduced to one or two items that they would accept at something close to $1 each. Reluctantly I sold my items and regretted it knowing I could have just given them away to someone who appreciated them just like I would be doing with the rest of my pile. Maybe it's a great place to find bargains, but don't expect to be treated with dignity when you attempt to sell anything to them. read more

Unbelievable! Stopped by the store in Westerville on Sunday at 10 30 to buy a dress I saw the day before! Shop did not open til 12 O0 but manager was there...I begged her to let me in to buy a dress in the window as I was leaving town and said I would pay cash!,,,,,, she said she couldn't!!!!!!?.. Yet another example of someone in a managerial position who cannot think outside the box....turns out I found the dress on eBay for half the price...and I will receive it before the holidays... I must have gone in on a good day. I went on a Wednesday afternoon to try to sell some clothes and shoes. I got a text message about 15 minutes after dropping off. They bought only seasonal items which makes sense (they have a lot of merchandise). There were three women working, all where pleasant and friendly. The names on my receipt are Cortney and Amina. Wish I knew the third's name so I could name drop a little more. Anyway, sold some shorts, bathing suit, and sandals and walked out with $30. Not bad in my opinion. read more

Today was not my first time to a Platos but it might just be my last. Today, was by far the worst experience I have had with them. I brought in 4 pretty large bags of name brand clothes that were either untouched or worn only once. I was told it would be about an hour and a half until they would have went through them and come up with what they would buy from me. After some walking around the strip, I received a text only 30 minutes later saying my drop off was ready. I was completely caught off guard when they offered nothing and sent me packing with all of my clothes. This would be understandable if they would of went through ALL of the bags but that was not the case... I was absolutely flabbergasted to see only one of the bags have been opened and it's contents in the position they started. No effort, what so ever, was put into my clothes and I will not be going to this location ever again!!! read more
