Disappointing to say the least. I brought a huge bin of nike and lululemon assuming they would take it for cheaper because they do usually rip you off but I asked to see what they were taking and for how much. Brand new nike hoodie they were going to give me 2.50 but it had a stick note with Gracie's name on it which is an employee. They did this on multiple items. I am very disappointed about the amount of money that they offered for brand new items-Two pairs of Vince Camuto sandals that cost at least 60.00 each from Nordstroms, gently used faux leather blazer. A faux leather INC purse with matching wallet from Macys cost 60.00 last summer was only valued for 25.00 for a total of 5 items . Big rip off !!!!! They could have offered 30.00 for brand new sandals, 15.00 for the blazer and 20.00 for the purse and matching wallet . I will not recommend them to anyone! They scam younger people!! I came in there less than a month ago to sell Dr Martins that were only worn for 3 hours. They were going to give me $30. Which I thought was extremely low. So I took them back. My daughter just went up there wanting to sell clothing before going to college & had lightly used hollister and America eagle. (Only took 4 items) had her bring up the Dr Martins again & they only would offered $18. Which my daughter decline I called to ask why & the person that answered was very rude and kept calling me honey. I'm 50 years old. Very rude and a scam! read more

All the clothing is way too overpriced. Their mens section is outdated and they will take your name brand clothing and give you pennie's on the dollar for them if you're lucky. I recommend the saint claire shores location or any other one for that matter. read more

Everyone is so quick to write bad review and I'm shocked because I just had the best Plato's Closet experience ever. They had so much authentic and nice lululemon and Nike and all other brands priced super affordable. My jaw dropped at the $25 lululemon crew neck that was in good condition Mary, the sweet girl at the front, and I talked about how other consignments stores sell fake lululemon and other brands. She verified that they verify all their designer brands and helped give me peace of mind. Mary was awesome the whole time actually. read more

So many of my foreign friends tell me the same story and the worst part of it all is, they have nothing but garbage in here and the workers don't know what the hell they are doing. Went to this location with my boyfriend. He had two bags of clothes to give with nice brands. For example, Lululemon, Levi's, Tommy, Calvin Klein. We waited for two hours, while they sorted through the bags. This was the first time he sold clothes but I sold clothes multiple times before. I went through his bag and saw the nice things that he had. When the clothes were ready to be picked up, they bought nothing. I have never had that experience at Plato's closet before and I have sold to them at least 20 times never before at this location if you're going to go through a customers bag for two hours the minimum you could do is buy two things. She answered my questions to her upmost ability in a polite, quick, and consistent manner. She has shown her ability to go above and beyond for your average any day customers and i couldn't be more grateful. I was certain I wrote a review the last time I came here. They habe a large selection of new or lightly used clothing and shoes. They sell a lot of name brand active wear, jeans, shirts, sweaters/sweatshirts, cardigans, etc. they purchase them as well if they are in good shape and in style. Sometimes they only look for certain items in season. Today they had 90% off yellow tag, and I got a shirt for $0.40. I got two other shirts after for $1.25. One was J crew and super new! A lot of their items are really new or barely worn. The ladies working at the counter were super sweet and helpful. They tell you the time it may take to check items you want to sell. They take some jewelry, even lotions and makeup unused. Great way to make extra cash on items you have not used or do not need. Anything they do not need, I just donated. read more

NEVER SELL STUFF HERE. I was told it would take one hour for them to go through my bag. I sat in the parking lot for TWO hours then walked back inside and they told me another hour. So then I drove home. Then they texted me at 7:57 that I had to come back and get my stuff before 8:00! This store recently publicized that they're under new ownership, and it's definitely gone downhill since changing owners. Their selling process is extremely disorganized. Previously, they scheduled selling by appointment which was so much more convenient and organized. I brought clothes in to sell today and was told it wouldn't take too long. After waiting 45 minutes, they even hadn't started going through the clothes. Nearly, two hours later I received a text they were finished. When I returned, they had not purchased anything. This wouldn't have been an issue if I was able to have a scheduled time slot, but it was a HUGE waste of time and gas having to come back. Also, while I waited I browse the clothing, and the store is literally full of DIRTY, worn out clothes..I've definitely seen better at the thrift store. I've shopped here in the past when it was under the previous owners, but definitely won't be back now that it's gone so downhill. I would definitely suggest the other Plato's in the area both for buying and selling. Alaina, Chelsea and Megan all helped me find what I need and even though they were busy, instead of being rude and sounding annoyed like most would, they all took there time to help me and were super nice! Do not waste your time. They don't look through your clothes, they just pass on everything to save time, even when the clothing is in style and in decent condition. They denied a Coach purse! They also never sent me a text stating the items were done. The person told me 30-45 minute wait, after waiting and not receiving a text, I went home. I continued to check the link, it still said "Queued," and it was getting late so I called, they said it was completed 2 hours ago. When I got there they passed on everything. Save your gas money, don't go here, you are better off selling your items on Facebook marketplace or just donating it. Next time I will try a different location if there is a next time. read more

The absolute worst store I've ever been to. The workers are dumb, they have no common sense. Do not recommend. I took back clothes and they said to come back when I revive a text message and if I receive it that same day to come that day or the next morning. I received this text message ten minutes before they close (I live thirty minutes away) so I came to get the money and clothes they didn't want the next morning. If I could give them less than one star I would this place is a complete joke! I go in there to give them my clothes to see if they can buy anything of my stuff so they told me it'll take about 45 minutes I said no problem I walk around the store I buy two things I walk out go to my car and then I'm decided you know what I still have another 30 minutes till they check everything I'm gonna go get some food and as soon as I start my car I get a text message saying that they went through everything. Which is impossible because I had a tub and then a huge bag I walk in the store my stuff is in the exact same spot that they told me to leave it. Telling me that there's rips and holes in them. I went in with my daughters so they could sell their clothes, as well as picked out a few things to purchase. Cashier made an honest mistake, tried to find someone to correct it, after speaking with the mgr, she wouldn't fix the error. The poor cashier looked almost in tears. I asked for the mgr, who then came out and told me since the transaction was already rang up, there was nothing she could do. I then asked for her managers name and number, which she told me to look up the number online since I made the comment that their receipt was garbage because you couldn't read it. not once was I rude with the employees, again, HONEST error, and the mgr said she would appreciate me not being rude. The mgr Keely, or however it's spelled, you need to learn to "not" be rude to customers who aren't rude, and shop in your store. Sorry you were not willing to fix YOUR employees error. read more

Bought a sweater. Take it home. Look to put it on and the security tag is still on. I take it back and they refuse. Hannah said, "uh no, no receipt and no removal" and then dismissed me. Too busy talking about asking for a raise with her coworker and complaining about how much she works and how unfair it is. I used to love coming here. I came in here the other day, and noticed they revamped the store which is amazing! However, it would help if the staff was actually friendly or helpful. They seemed too focused on their personal life conversations. They also seem to have not changed a single clothing item at least it is what it seemed like to me. Everything was out dated and it seemed like I've seen everything in there before, but nonetheless, they definitely need to teach their staff to be a lot friendlier and actually greet the people that walk into the store. read more

I drove to the store which wasted my time and gas! I was told they are accepting anything and so I drove there 35mins with the stuff worth more than $3000 or even more that's a steal.. But I was willing to let it go and most of my stuff is still tagged and some were never worn ,2 hours later they texted me to come back in..so I went there and was they said they weren't interested in any of the items that I have!!! I brought 4 huge bags full of clothes and you can't find anything? I know what I've brought into your store and the value of my stuff but this is ridiculous!!! Are you kidding me? I was a bit lost for a second after they told me and I looked at my stuff like... Are you serious? Then I turned around, and looked around at the store and I see nothing but junk! I even told one shopper.. "You're about to pay for that jacket in your hand?" I have so many in my bags! So I grabbed one nice jacket and gave it to her for free! You ain't got to pay for it! And that jacket is still brand new! You can have it!!! Keep your money!! Then another 3 shoppers came by and looked thru my bags and they were shocked too! And I gave another pretty dress for another shopper..still brand new you can keep it too! It's free! I didn't expect to get a lot of returns. I'll just take whatever they give me but for them they didn't even look at my stuff... There's no way you didn't find anything in these 4 huge bags???? And I believe they didn't even look thru the bags, Unbelievable!!!! And who is the one in charge of deciding what they take in and don't? Compared to the one in st Clair shores this one is amazing and has such better Quality clothes. The staff is polite and helpful. And the return policy is better here too. You have 7 days after the date of purchase to return for method of payment. At the st Clair shores location this is not true. I bought a jacket for my brother that didn't fit and came back the next day to return it and come to find out I wasn't able to, only store credit was given. So if your buying for someone else I would highly suggest this location. Better overall atmosphere read more
