I took in 3 bags of clothes,shoes, and accessories today. very cute and trendy stuff as i'm only around 19 years old. she told me she couldn't take the clothes and to bring them bag washed and folded because there was a little bit of dog hair on something. That makes sense. However, she proceeded to tell me that all of the shoes and accessories i brought were "too worn" when 90% of them were brand new and i had taken the tags off before i took them in. some accessories were still in their original bag and shoes still had tags on them. said they couldn't take anything because of the condition. also, My mom also brought in boutique clothing some retailing for 40-50 bucks and they took 23 items for 22 bucks. safe to say i won't sell here again. read more

Trash place, trash attitudes, i assume the manager is the ring leader of it all, it's definitely enabled. EVERYTIME i've gone in i've spent 100+ and have been harassed the whole time, stolen from when trying to do business, Bad mouthed by the employees, etc . you'd get more money selling your clothes to a homeless man than this place. I brought in several high end items (levi's, perry ellis, columbia, etc) and they only took 7 items that together is worth over $100 but the lady tries to mark it down by observing you & finding ways to belittle you then offers you pennies. $17 for those 7 high end items & told me the rest were damaged, had stains, was coming loose when i know most of my items still had tags on them so they were brand new. To my Maconites, Plato's closet off Tom Hill Road by Planet Fitness is superb. Super friendly and great price points, I just got 3 new pairs of Nike and adidas workout shoes and about 15 workout outfits for about $175 bucks! Staff is very friendly and price points are spot on! I look forward to continuing being a customer there. Bella and Ty were stellar. Seems most negative reviews I read have to do with not getting financially what they want from clothes they bring in. It's a thrift store, they are in the business to make money too. If they don't give you what you want financially, it's fair enough to just move business to a different venue. read more

My experience was 100% horrible!!!!! Today was my very first time walking into this business and let me say it was unpleasant. The first thing I see upon walking in the door was an employee butt as she lay on the counter. I made the a comment about how this was a sight to see and she looked at me and continued to lay on the counter. Which I find very rude and offensive. At that moment I knew I did not want to give this business my money. The other employees stared at me as if I was a ghost, no one tried to assist me with anything being that this was my first time here. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! I was going here spending over $100 everything I would go. I went on1/4/18 to sale my daughter clothes. Now let me tell you I've seen in this store clothes with stains on the shirt that been worn with balls under the arm pits of the shirt. Shoes that are stain really bad. I walked around the store & seen some Jordan's that had been worn a lot.. I had A lot Of CLOTHES. She didn't want to look at the clothes because of that. She (the worker) didn't go through all the clothes. It was 2 shirts that was not clean. The white shirt that's by itself is 1 of the shirts. It clean I just washed so much (like I should) The other had deodorant on it. Ok take them out. The rest of the clothes WERE CLEAN... I just didn't see those shirts. When I got to the counter the other girl told me that they only took 9 pieces. I was like what pieces. They gave me 26.15. When I asked WHY they didn't take the other clothes. The worker said they were seen worn. (The gag is I got the clothes from this store) Then as I was leaving the store to pull my truck up to put the clothes in another girl was like take a picture. Of how I brought the clothes in. Picture of how the look will be below.... ALL of the clothes were NAME Brand or name that I've purchased from the store... This was one of my most PLEASURABLE visits to Plato's closet! We are a military travel so we travel quite frequently and have been to several Plato's & this experience TOPS our experiences! The staff was very engaged with giving advice in our purchases ie given outfit ideas , sales items more way to save and more! My family & I felt like we were shopping with friends! Walked in about 20 minutes before closing (which time was not updated on their site), so they followed us throughout the store, reminding us that they'll be closing in 15 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes. I recently brought in several items of clothing, all of which were brand names and hardly ever worn. I even brought in a limited edition pair of Vans and a pair of Doc Martens, both of them were in really really good condition. We came in at 11 and we ended up waiting for over three hours for them to appraise less than 10 items. I had brought in three pairs of American Eagle jeans and they had only accepted one pair. If I added yo the total cost of the items I had brought in it would've been around $300 dollars and I understand worn clothes don't have the same value as they do when you first buy them, but they tried to give me $16 for everything????????? The lady who was explaining it to me was really rude and told me that I didn't have to accept the offer, so I didn't and sold them online and got a better deal. I was greeted with a "welcome to Plato's Closet" upon entering the store, but it was all downhill from there. I brought in a few items to sell, and while waiting browsed the store. It didn't take long to realize Plato's Closet's idea of "brand name" clothes is not what I expected; the store is packed with fast fashion items from places like Charlotte Russe, Kohl's, and Hollister. I even encountered an item that I had previously purchased a couple years ago at TJ Maxx. All the prices were way higher than what the used clothes were actually worth! My overall impression of the store selection was "cheap quality, high prices." With some of the things I saw other people had brought in, I got the impression that they will buy anything (except formal wear!). Most of the associates did not seem happy to be there.
