I am very upset with the sale that I did with them. I know for a fact, they rip me off and whoever is over this Plato's closet now the new owners or whatever they need to be shut down. I had a new pair of Jordans and a brand new pair of blue actually baby blue and white Nike Jordans that I've never worn. They just didn't fit me and the other Jordan pair was zebra print never wore those cause I didn't like them and two other pair of shoes that were named brand and then some clothes that were in very good shape. When I came back for to pick up the rest of my stuff cause they sent me a text they paid me $$45 for that. That is the most ridiculous and ripped off thing. I usually sell stuff on Facebook but for some reason I couldn't sell the zebra print Jordans because I kept getting like bots on Facebook market that wanted to buy them the other blue and white pair I got for Christmas. They just didn't fit. I liked them. I just couldn't fit them. They ripped me off. I'm telling y'all right now if I go in there and I see them shoes on sale for 100 something dollars because I looked them up and no shoes are worked almost $250 at some places. They've never been worn brand new and the other pair and then the Reebok I don't mind those cause those I got somewhere else but the other two pairs of shoes I know for a fact, if someone would have wanted them from Facebook market, they would've paid the $200 price. Plato's cause it has never done this to me before. I have brought clothes in and made $120 for maybe 10 pairs with another Owner or people who work there, but for some reason these people seem like they're just ripping people off. I'm just warning y'all if y'all go be prepared to be ripped off, be prepared for these people to make it seem like your stuff isn't working anything. And the only reason I let it go was because I'm trying to clean my house out and my closet out and I don't need that stuff and I'm tired of waiting on Facebook market for somebody to buy it but heads up do not go to Plato's closet on airline. read more

Most items are extremely overpriced, if you sell them items they'll give you pennieson the dollar. Some of the clothing should not be purchased to be resold they're extremely wore out. I only shop during sales. The customer service is ok but could be better. read more

Plato's closet is a waste of time. the items were refused because were more fashionable than on the "thrifty" style. what kind of excuse is that? when i arrived to retrieve my items, they could not locate them. once they did, they said bring to style encore next door. FYI...don't bother with them as well. I was denied for the same reason. They offered me $3 for a pair of Aldi heels that i paid $55 on clearance. Worn one time. You'll be better off selling your goods on Poshmark. read more

I told them absolutely not and left with my clothes. They do not give you any kind of money for your clothes at all. I would never bring anything to them. the service was fine but they price GAUGE the crap out of you. I brought in a pair of brand new never worn 30$ shoes and they wanted to give me 6$ for them. just so they can turn around and put them on the shelves for 20-25$. I get it, it's a consignment but there's truly no point in even trying to bring your things here unless you want to get paid PENNIES. I think this Plato's must have new management or something. What it used to be: Your average thrift store vibes with a few people wandering through isles of somewhat organized clothes and accessories while one or two people were behind the counter sorting product and ringing up customers. I was never mad about it. It was what you expect. What is is now: A well-oiled machine. They must have what seems like at least triple the product. They had 7 people working behind the counter sorting drop offs and checking people out. And there must have been at least 10 or 12 people shopping around the store while I was in there. Justin Bieber was playing. People were vibing. The staff was so nice and helpful. Oh, and they bought 18 items from me for over $50! You used to be lucky if they wanted 2 or 3 of the things you brought in. This location got a major facelift and I'm all about it. Whoever organized it should be proud. They even have a sign where you drop items off advertising the types of items they are most in need of depending on supply and demand. The staff were so kind and understanding! It was my first time selling and I didn't know what to expect but for anyone curious: 1. with covid you have to provide your own basket to place your clothes while they are waiting to be screened (plastic bag was not sufficient) 2. selling is a same-day process so you have to come back to collect back your clothes or the cash value of the sold clothes is only rewarded in store credit 3. i went on a saturday and was told the wait time for them to sift through my clothes was 2 hours but i got a text about 1.5 hrs later so it wasn't a bad wait at all. especially if you have till the end of the day to pick up! There are soo many restrictions of when you can sell clothes to Plato's . The first time it was in a bag and they don't accept clothes in bags. Sooo The second time it was outside the hours of "buying" even though they don't close until 7 they do not accept clothes after 12. I explained I work so they suggested the weekend. Appeared on a Saturday' morning around 10 am & " I'm sorry mam we only accept the first 25 people and we have 25 people." read more

They stop buying before noon usually but the last times we've tried (10 and 10:30) they've already stopped buying for the day. Not that you ever get much for them anyway but might as well just give them away and get the tax credit. When we finally got in they were super kind and took some stuff but you HAVE to get there at opening. read more

This store carries brand name clothing that has been gently used. Sometimes you can find some really cute things. The rows of clothes are kinda close together, so it's hard to look through things with other people there. The prices are cheap since they are used clothes. I checked their website to make sure they were open and it said they were until five on Sunday, got into the store around two with some clothes I was looking to sell and they informed me that they stop taking clothes at noon. I followed up with a question of why that is and they said because they're short staffed and receive a high volume of new clothes every day which I completely understand but all the associates were just in the back congregating so I'm not super sure where their efforts are going. First time i tried to sell my clothes here they said they were under staffed so they couldn't. Had to call them like 3 times to get through. Didn't text me when my clothes were ready. Had to call them again to ask then got an attitude when my clothes were actually ready. They also did not take a pair of barely used lululemon leggings. Only got $30 for 11 items definitely worth well over $100. You also have to get there right when they open to sell. read more

It's a hit or miss place. Hit if you just want to get rid of clothes you don't care about and make some money (not a lot). Miss if you are trying to make Some real cash because they will give you "garage sale" value for your clothes, then turn around and sell them for 8 times what they offered you. read more

Their website says they pay 33% on 70% of retail. Not true. They offered 60 bucks for 7 items one of which was a 250$ cashmere sweater with the price tag still on it. According to their website the sweater alone should have brought me 50 bucks, and the 150$ sneakers should have paid out 30$, plus 5 more items. read more

I wrote this email to the headquarters of Plato's Closet. I would recommend​ you read before entering that store. "I want to start by saying thank you for being fantastic cooperation and having the purpose of serving your local community by being a consignment shop. On September 9, 2019, around 11 ish am I entered the Baton Rouge Plato's Closet with great attitude and expectations, and after about 5 minutes entering the store, all of that went completely down. Your manager, named Bri was extremely rude; she was on her phone the entire time checking Instagram and other social media, there was cursing amongst the workers and very rude body language. I brought two full bags of clothes that had the potential to be sold to your store, and not one single item did they take from my two full trash bags of clothes and shoes. Multiple items were clean, brand new with tags, and had the full potential to be sold. They asked me to fill out a sheet so they could contact me by sending me a text once they were finished going through my clothes, I filled out two of these forms for the two of my bags I brought, and not once did they text me because they were too busy doing their business and being on social media and beyond disrespectful and rude. It was until I had to get pretty close to the counter for them to notice that I have been waiting for about an hour and a half for my clothes to be finished. They told me it would be 20 minutes. Overall, I do not plan on going back to this location anytime soon, and I plan on writing an honest Yelp review towards this store. I hope this is taken into consideration and actions are made immediately​, because people that act this way, and do not take their jobs seriously do not deserve their jobs. There are other people out there that are struggling and would do anything to work, try and strive, and deserve this job. I usually get excited to go to Plato's. I have bought from there, and sold to them as well. I'm actually going to be making a trip there soon to bring in some items. Two days in a row- I went by this store to drop off some clothes to sell- the first day around noon and the next day around 10:30am. I was told each time that they had to "stop the buys due to not having enough employees, so short staffed" blah, blah, blah. Don't ever tell your customers you're short staffed or you don't have enough employees- that information does nothing but reflect poorly on your operation; it doesn't generate sympathy, it only lets your customers know to go elsewhere and that they aren't important. read more

My friend called ahead of time to make sure that they were taking donations at the time we wanted to go in. We show up after driving 30 minutes and the man tells us that we have to have our clothes in a bin or a laundry basket rather than the plastic bags that we had them in. Then we leave the store to put the clothes back in the car and we walked back in and he's telling his coworkers about how he definitely told us over the phone that we were supposed to do that when he in fact did not because we would have done it and we would not have drove 30 minutes without it being in the baskets. Not only did he inform us of this after we had already drove the 30 minutes to the location and brought our clothes but he was rude about it and was persistent in his statement that he definitely told us that we had to have it in a basket. I came in two days back to back and they told me both times they had stopped their buys for the day due to short staffing. It was 2pm and I was informed that they close at 8pm. Why are they stopping buys 6 HOURS before closing? They told me to come earlier if I wanted my clothes bought, yet I work in the mornings so that is not possible for me. There were no workers sorting through clothes behind the desk so they were not busy or overwhelmed with buys at all, otherwise I'd understand why they stopped doing buys. I really like this clothes abs the prices are great. There are very few places that have nice clothes, good prices and convenient shopping. This place is one of then. The only thing I would change there as a shopper is making your guests feel more welcome. As someone who doesn't have allot of money and cleans houses for a living I don't always come in there looking my best and most times I feel that when I enter, yes I am greeted but it's clear it's not genuine. It's more of a snobbish greeting which could make a person feel less than, therefore stunting their shopping experience and causing a decrease in sales which could have been an opportunity to increase. read more

They've moved 2 doors down from their original location. Their new location is a LOT bigger and roomier with a lot more options. I didn't get to take a look around much but nothing really caught my eye (but probably bc I wasn't for anything in particular). I didn't find any shoes my size (5-5.5) so if you have little feet, you might feel defeated. I sold half of the stuff I had for 24.75 (7 items) if that means anything to anyone :) 5 stars for now bc I don't have any reason to give it any less. read more
