Attempting to sell old clothes isn't for the faint of heart. I'm always feeling like a wannabe actress who wants to make it big since there was so much rejection involved. I washed and ironed my clothes ahead of time, in anticipation. How much money might I get for two bags o' body coverings? The employee at Plato's Closet next to Earth Fare were all very friendly and nice. They are very efficient with the review of your clothes, and there's a whiteboard that tells you if your clothes have all been finished being scrutinized. I didn't have to wait too long. A guy did tell me that they are buying all seasons now but that they're overstocked on women's tops. Of course, I had brought in a lot of women's tops. Sigh! I got a few bucks for a pair of unworn pants. I guess that's more than I had before I went to PC. Might try again in the future. I like that you can get cold hard cash ASAP versus consignment, where you have to wait and see if your stuff sells. I didn't buy anything, but the store has a huge inventory of things for both men, women, and kids. I saw tops and dresses from Anthropologie to Forever 21. Everything is arranged by color. It's a little overwhelming. Plato's Closet also sells shoes, jewelry, and accessories. Oh, and it smelled like coconut candles for some reason. At least there's always Goodwill. The service is literally terrible. Everyone is condescending and it ruins it. Clothes are dope, workers aren't. The manager is so rude and I've heard shes wrongfully accused people of stealing many times. This is insane!!! Need Plato's executive to come here and get this place in check! It's absurd! Don't waste your time bringing bags over to this place. I had three bags filled with American Eagle Adidas Nike. They took none of it. The funny thing is some of it. I actually bought there and never even worn. I also had brand new pair of Nike in the bag, Auburn apparel a brand new pair of American Eagle sandals. EVERYTHING the 2024 binder (that they provide for you to look at) with all the !!!!!!!summer !!!!! clothes they are looking for. And they took the only SHEIN. Item I had a PUFFER jacket. DONT WAIST YOUR TIME!! I took 2 bags full of CURRENT LOCAL BOUTIQUE clothes in and they only wanted 1 pair of used Nike shorts ! The clothes they have for sale have stains and look like they were 10 plus years old ! I don't know what they "but" from sellers but they do not buy quality clothes for sure ! Great place to look for used clothes that are stylish and are in great condition. We shop here regularly. Most of the folks giving Plato's Closet few stars are grousing because Plato's closet won't accept their clothes. So me and my friend came into this establishment and everything was fine until we got to the dressing room. The girl working behind the the counter was names Mae and she was a complete and total bitch to me and my friend. She gave us both rude looks talk to us like we were stupid and glared at us the whole time we were there. We both tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but she was polite and nice to every other customer that also was trying clothes on. I'm not sure what this bitches problem was other than the fact that maybe she was just intimidated by us. She also talked shit about us right in front of us to her coworkers. This really was one of my fav locations and I'm sure to return next time I'm in town. There was plenty of parking and better yet - plenty of men's clothes to pick from - one of the best selections I've seen actually and yes - I left with some items! Here's why the 2 stars...yes sometimes you can find gems here if you look hard enough and have nothing really in mind that you're looking for BUT if you're selling here...you can't leave the store unless you want your stuff done literally last, they will only quote you a time that your stuff will be done IF you choose to stay and look around (you are better off dropping it off and picking t up before close). One time I was quoted 45 minutes-1 hour so I decided to stay because that's not terrible...well 1.5 hours later my stuff was finally done. I don't live there anymore but my god it's a nightmare selling to them :/ read more

This is one of the worst locations. They stated that the clothes were over two years old and the shoes were worn, which they were not,but they had old purses with the leather peeling for sale. The associates are rude. They act entitled and try to make you feel less than. There were 4 girls standing at the registers conversating and did not even acknowledge us. I left my clothes and was advised i would receive a call but after 3 hours I did not hear anything. So I called them. They have a delight in tell people that they can not purchase anything and then told me that thet are not accepting women clothes but they were men clothes. American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie Fitch. This was my second time at this location but NEVER again. read more

YOU SELL USED CLOTHES... NOT NEW ONES! The prices are ridiculous. Apparently they don't buy Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, Polo BUT they do sell them for ridiculous amounts. The people in there base their buys on what THEY like, and what they do like is Hipster, Abercrombie and Fitch, skinny jeans and T-shirt's with anime art on them. This is the worst Plato's closet I have ever been to.. It has this strange smell when you walk in, the music they play is terrible, and the clothing selection is awful. This location is also in serious need of a remodel. I dropped off my clothes and she told me it would only be 20 minutes if i stayed in store, but I decided to leave and I came back over two hours later to my clothes still sitting in the bin untouched.. So I decided to look around while I waited in the store this time. I couldn't find anything that was on trend and in good condition, and I looked around for almost an hour. The selection mostly consists of clothing that was popular in 2010-2013 and over half of the items I saw were in poor condition. After dropping off an entire bag of clothes they told me they aren't accepting certain women's styles right now due to overstock and gave me $5 for two tshirts and a beanie... maybe if they would clear out their selection of 2012 Abercrombie & Fitch shirts and ugly Nike tempo shorts, they could make room for new and more on-trend styles. The mall honestly has better deals on new clothing than this place does on dingy items. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

The smell of the place is unbearable the workers aren't nice and I also passionately hate that if you try to sell your clothes they take at least an hour to go through it and when it was 7pm and they finally texted me to come pick up what they didn't want I didn't want to go back that night but if I wanted to get it the next day I can't bc they will then keep the clothes??? Over an HOUR AND A HALF later they told me that it would be best to leave and come back because they were not close to doing it yet. I am a 22 year college student who, not to toot my own horn, has a fairly decent sense of style. I went into Plato's Closet with clothes I no longer wear or need. When I came to pick up the clothes they didn't want and the money for the clothes they decided to take they told me they couldn't accept any of my clothes due to the fact they were "out of style". However, as I was walking back and forth taking the FIVE containers back to my car (in which they didn't offer to help) I passed an entire display of Miss Me jeans. I'm sorry but I do NOT accept that they couldn't take my clothes because they were out of style when the clothes in there went out of style no less than 10 years ago. So never go here expecting to turn in clothes to people who actually have the SLIGHTEST idea of what style actually is. read more

My first stop whenever I need new clothes! Probably the largest Platos I've visited, and DEFINITELY the best organized. Most of the store is color coded and sorted very well. They have a large inventory, so it's worth looking through to see if they have anything. I find brand new dresses from the local boutiques in here nearly every time I go. The buyers have a good sense of the local market and try to appeal to potential customers other than the university students. read more
