Every employee here is rude and stuck up...everytime I try to sell or buy here. Bought some shorts here last week because the tag said they were $8. Cashier rang them up and THEN proceeded to tell me she had to charge me $25 because the tag was wrong. read more

Stopped taking clothes at noon one day, told me to come in the next morning when they opened at 10, got there and they told me they won't take clothes until 12. I always find plenty of bargains in todays clothes... (but please don't tell anyone). I don't know why people are writing these bad reviews. I go in there about once a week and buy shirts, shoes, jeans and other stuff. A lot of their clothing looks like brand new. These reviewers would obviously get butt hurt in ANY store! read more

I have a love hate relationship with this place. Yes the clothes are cheap. I've found quite a few Victoria's Secret, loft and old navy items that were new for sale price. U fortunately one loft shirt and one old navy shirt I bought here both had holes in them and I didn't notice until I had already bought them. I've also tried to sell a few clothes. They say they won't take anything that's stained or has holes or wear and tear... However I find those types of items while looking often. Hence my two shirts with holes. I give the discount shopping a 3 star (maybe...) but only a 1 for the review because THE most important aspect is customer service, at any establishment. And here it is lacking. On one occasion a friend was here. There was a couple of people very loudly speaking about SERIOUSLY inappropriate things, loud enough that the whole store could here. One of the workers said to my friend "yeah that's just the type of customers we get here." Which, is offensive to ALL customers, including my friend and myself. Secondly, the other day I was in and my friend and I had a two hour wait time for our clothes. We asked if they had gotten to our things yet after almost an hour. We ONLY asked so we could see if we had time to go get dinner while they were still working on them (no big deal... Just wanted to know...) one of the girls gave us a nasty look, laughed, and said "how long has it been? 40 minutes...." *laughs and says with an attitude* I always feel like an inconvenience to the staff here. They appear to be younger, chatty girls more focused on gossiping about co workers and life when there's customers to attend to. I now feel disgusted after these experiences and am starting to think paying full price is worth going else where. read more

I have been to this location a few times as well as their other location, before they relocated. I also have taken clothing to sell a few times as well. I have been to other locations (Escondido, CA & Costa Mesa, CA). Like the other stores they offer men's & women's clothing. Majority of them are used however they do sometimes have new items. I like Amarillo's new location because it is larger and more organized. They even have more of a seating area for the people who don't want to shop & people waiting for the dressing room. I love how everything is organized in their specific clothing section. They have a clearance rack which is awesome. They have a glass cabinet where they hold the "higher end" merchandise. They buy clothing/items that they could sell specifically name brands. Surprisingly, they buy & sell athletic clothing. They even have a great system where they electronically label your box. Overall, I enjoy coming here to sell & buy clothing. The hard thing about this is that you have to try everything on before you buy it. I enjoy the fact that they have a stamp card where they stamp when you buy a certain dollar amount & when you fill it up, you get a percentage off. read more

DO NOT DONATE OR SELL HERE!!!!! I brought nothing but pure GOLD here and they gave me $6!!!! A huge trash bag full of clothes. They didn't even accept my clothes except a vintage reebok windbreaker... for six dollars. AND THEN they donated all of my stuff without my consent. THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!! I want so bad to like this place but they never cease to disappoint. How stuck up can you be selling used clothes? I've came into sell more often than I should have just hoping new employees equals better experience but that's not the case. Being looked up and down by the staff. I'm here now pacing in front of the store because I was told my sell would be ready in a hour, a hour ago! *shrugs* now ofcourse I can understand things can run behind or take longer than expected but when I come back in I'm told I will have to wait another hour and a half. Also when I came in there was nobody sorting until after I asked about my sell. Now I'm afraid they are purposely going to give me a crappy sell because I'm upset and didn't hesitate to express that but they have no idea how much I held back. Not only that I can see in her eyes she fully intends on having me wait the hour and half she quoted me. It's the holiday season and I'm having a hard time selling things I don't even want to get rid of so to be treated like trash on top of that is ridiculous it's so pathetic I can't even take my items and go else where because I desperately need the money. I know they can't personalize and give sympathy sells out but Jesus there has to be some kind of care for the customer. Especially when you originally told them a certain wait then it ends up being an hour and half more time to wait. Two and a half hours for probably a $20 sell at maximum. Next time I'm come in please just SPIT in my face. Treat the ones who sell to you a littler better without them all you would have is fake Gucci socks and knockoff PINK lanyards i doubt that's where you're making your money think wisely. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I took perfect Miss Me and Daytrip and BKE jeans and shorts along with some athletic shorts in. They were only going to give me $13 and change. Really???? Such a rip off. I'll feel more satisfied donating them to someone who needs them than letting them profit off of me. read more

We had a great experience. We were expecting the worse, because we had heard that some of the staff could be negative and rude. That was not our experience. We were greeted nicely and explained how it worked. To my surprise, it was not subjective, but based on a computer program they use to look up each item. The day we were there, they said it would take a while because they had several people before us. We ran errands and called back, the staff apologized that it was taking so long. Eventually they called. To our surprise we received a generous offer and could even negotiate on anything we felt deserved more. All in all... we were pleased. Based on what they bought, we learned that the items they take need to be current. Not something that has been in your closet awhile. read more

Where to begin, where to begin. . . I first came across Plato's Closet through radio and TV advertisement. One day I was cleaning out my closet and decided, "I'm gonna try that one place that will buy gently used designer clothes." My first experience went well, I thought that the money they gave for my clothes was fair. The next few times was a different story. I had taken several pairs a Buckle BKE jeans in, Miss Me jeans, and some Charlotte Russe, AE, and other name brand tops. I had recently gained weight and these clothes were still in great condition, just didn't fit. The price they offered wasn't fair, or even low, but down right offensive. I told myself, I wouldn't return. However, I did, when my husband decided to look for some work jeans. Upon arrival to their new location a few young, and immature employees were talking rudely about customers clothing that had been brought in. How inappropriate to discuss these things so loudly, where customers in the store can hear, I though to myself. I tried to move away from their rude remarks when I heard my husband yell across the store that it was time to leave. Once in the car, I asked if everything was okay and he stated, he needed to use the restroom and asked where it was located and they looked at him with disgust and rudely said their restroom was for employees only. My husband can not stand this store or being treated like he is less than. Needless to say we will not be returning or recommending this store to any friends. read more

I recently visited Plato's Closet with the intention of selling a few articles of clothing, and left with a very frustrating experience that has defined my impression of the company. While I normally do not mind a bit of a wait, I approached the counter some 10-20 minutes after the maximum time frame I was given to find the two employees working at the time doing nothing but chatting amongst themselves while around 5 (at the -very- least) bags of clothing aside from my own lie untouched on the floor. The apparent laziness of the employees, however, was less frustrating than the lack of acknowledgement I received upon approaching the counter at least twice. This visit occurred in the early afternoon, and the establishment was far from busy the entire time I was there. This is not the first negative experience I've had at Plato's Closet, but it will be my last. Plato's Closet of Amarillo, Texas is one of the last places I would recommend a visit to. read more
