I used a 3rd party app called Styleseat to book this appointment. The appointment is also used to collect payment and leave reviews as well as search for and compare stylists in the area for the service (balayage with specialty color) I wanted. Marie required a deposit to hold the appointment outside of the app. which I was okay with. However the app Styleseat is where and how I found her, how we received each other's contact information, and it also had a price list. When I arrived at my appointment I confirmed with my stylist Marie the amount of money I had brought with me (which was the amount Styleseat confirmed the appointment for) was correct, and she told me in fact she had increased her prices and I was $100 short of what I had been told the appointment would cost. While I still scrambled to come up with the extra money (all but $20) during my hair appointment, she still did not do much more than the first step of what an appointment like this calls for. I wanted a silver lilac/lavender dimensional balayage with a shadow root and ended up with products that burned my scalp and a hair color that looks like a bad bleach job done at home with a few streaks of light purple in the back, no shadow root leaving my hair line and my skin color blending into one another and washing out my skin tone. I spent a week depressed after the appointment for the sadness I felt due to the money I had wasted for something I look so greatly forward to doing once or twice a year, in this case for my birthday. When I contacted Marie and asked her if she would work on fixing my hair and getting it closer to what I was hoping for, she said she would add the shadow root I wanted for an additional $50 knowing how difficult it was for me to come up with the extra $100 she squeezed out of me in your textbook bait and switch. She could tell I was a non confrontational people pleaser and she took advantage of that in the worst of ways with no remorse for how much I disliked my hair. I know I made mistakes with how I communicated my dissatisfaction with her, but she took no accountability for her part in taking $250 from me leaving me feeling like my hair has only looked this bad one other time after paying such a high price for a professional dye job. read more
