I love this gym. Tons of equipment, both new and old-school. Staff is friendly, and it's kept clean. For the most part, most members take their workouts seriously. You do get small groups of kids that you feel are just their because their Mom dropped them off in a minivan and they are just there to socialize until Mom comes and picks them up again. They are the same ones that never put their weights away. Otherwise, it's great. Plenty of muscle heads to keep you motivated, but enough novices and regular people that's it's not intimidating. This gym doesn't have the attitude that many of the downtown gyms have. No Steve-Nashtitude here! read more

My first time joining a gym - l joined for the location mostly. I workout in the ladies only section. It's small, but the equipment is good. This gym is very self-independent. Do not expect instruction/recommendations from the staff; you are on your own in this gym! Due to my lack of knowledge, I might switch to another gym that has more one on one help. I would recommend this location if you are self-motivated and know what to do in the gym. read more

The worst customer service I have experienced at any business to date. I signed up a year or so ago for a gym membership. Started with a one-month trial for $35. At the end of the month I stopped going to the gym, forgot to cancel my membership and get my $35 back. Note: I DID NOT SET FOOT IN THE GYM ONCE past this point. Fast forward five months I get a letter in the mail. "You owe us $300 in gym fees that have accumulated up until now." Initially I was like "OK, clearly this is some misunderstanding" so I went in to talk to the manager. She told me to write a letter and explain the situation, which I did. I brought her the letter. Her response was "lets negotiate a price." LETS NEGOTIATE A PRICE. Right. So I walked out of there. She threatened to send a notice to COLLECTIONS. A few weeks later I start getting calls from COLLECTIONS. They waited almost HALF A YEAR before informing me that I had not cancelled my membership, and did so with a letter slapped to my face saying I owe $300. If anything happens to you as a customer, don't expect any understanding or sympathy. The only thing management sees you as is a form of income. In the end its all about the money to them. Even if I were offered a lifetime membership for free, I would never set foot in that dump again. And in my opinion, neither should you. read more

I have given a one star due to the fact that I don't believe they act in the best inerest of thier members. When there is equipment down they will give you the Same line each week without any updates until it finally is resolved. Women's sauna now has to be manually reset by one of the staff which are not prompt and keep me waiting more the 30 minutes before I just gave up and left. Frustrating since the sauna has not been working for a couple of months and on and off before that. High membership fee and a large annual maintenance fee should be resolving these issues in a timely manner. Just really frustrated right now as I also had a bad experience with the girl at the front desk on weekend who left me in there for 30 min. read more

I joined this gym as it was really logistically convenient. I have had a really bad experience. A couple of things you should know. 1. You cannot take a break unless you travel AND you must give your itinerary. Seriously? Are we 13 to get a note from the parents? So if you want to go jog in the sun for a couple of summer months, you have to lie - or else be dinged for the fee. 2. I was told that I could cancel anytime I wish. So - after 3-4 months of disappointments, I cancelled. I sent emails and called, but I keep on getting invoices (Thoroughly inflated). I have not set foot here since November 2013 and am still getting invoices in email. It is March 2014. Wonder if they think emailing invoices will result in revenue from their erstwhile members. 3. Gym showers are dirty and dark... But to their credit the water pressure was amazing... and was hot. 4. The gym is literally littered with old and new equipment. I wonder if Gyms are supposed to have some density factor they should work on. Here it is literally a thousand trip hazards. 5. The treadmills were in state of despair. When I asked why are some not in order since a couple of weeks... We have called for repair... 6. The staff smiles when you walk in - but really do not give a F if you have a concern or a question. This gym was good until the billing. They way they charge peoples accounts and deal with you credit cards is really bad. My card had expired and never knew that my membership was on that card and they never called me or sent a letter until my bill was at $230! Dont go to this gym there is never parking and the billing suck. Worst gym I have ever been to!! read more

I wish there was a way to give negative stars because this "athletic club" does not even deserve one star. The club is outdated, the staff is extremely rude, and the gym is full of roid monkeys. Not to mention, the ladies section absolutely sucks. The only reason I stuck to this club is because it was affordable. Thank god Good Life Fitness opened up down the street, because I was able to switch to a more affordable gym with better amenities. Avoid platinum at all costs!! read more

Do not go to this gym. What the other reviews state is true and they will do anything to take money from people. I signed a 4 month contract and was charged for months after that. When I realized it I was told that they would wave the 30 day notice and not charge me the next months fee. When they did I contacted them and was told they would reimburse and I gave them my address. When I didnt receive anything for about 6 weeks I contacted them again which was ignored. A couple weeks later I tried again after leaving a voicemail and was told that actually they decided they would not waive the 30 day notice and would not be reimbursing the fee they took. I have emails to prove that they outright lied to me twice. Very corrupt gym, protect your money and go elsewhere. read more

Would rate this place zero stars if I could. Cheap penny pinching management. I cancelled my membership and they still charged me the yearly maintenance fee PLUS the following month's dues because I didn't give "30 days notice". They keep bringing the refer a friend incentive around way too often which has resulted in an overly packed gym at all times of the day. Only good thing I can say about the gym is some of the equipment. Other than that, management and staff are brutal. Avoid at all costs. read more

This is the typical scumbag greedy gym that uses every tactic available to cheat you out of every penny they can get out of you. They say no contract, but believe me they have other ways to burn you. Today I went in to cancel my gym membership (have to move out of the area after a divorce). I understood since I was just 5 days late I would be stuck paying another month (since they require 30 days notice). Here's the kicker though. They have this "enhancement fee" I would have to pay on July 15th of $66...yes $66 on top of the $50/month. I was willing to eat the extra monthly fee, but I figured since I was not continuing my membership they would not go out of their way to get the "enhancement fee" since I'd no longer be at their gym. This "enhancement fee" is a ONCE PER YEAR fee. But because I was 5 days late giving notice they insisted on still charging me the enhancement fee due July 15th when I cancelled on June 20th. Why would they insist on charging somebody a yearly fee for "gym upgrades" just weeks before they leave the gym forever? I asked for the manager after the first lady was rude to my face and got to talk to Scott. This guy was even worse. Sat there with a smug grin on his face (seriously) and just kept repeating "sorry you signed the contract, it's in the fine print." This was infuriating because Scott was the man who personally signed me up just a few months ago. I sat in his office and he actually told me at the time that if I cancelled before July I would of course not have to pay a yearly fee for the continuing year (makes sense). He was careful at the time though not to elaborate on the fact that 30 days notice was required for the monthly due AND the fee for the entire next year. Any honest business at this point that respects and values their customers would at least offer me a prorated "enhancement fee" For example they got me stuck for a month so allow me to pay just 1/12 of the yearly fee for the one extra month I'm there. Not a chance though. Platinum Athletic Club values the $66 more than integrity and respect for their members. Not only that but Scott steals my $66 with a smug grin on his face. I'm 33 years old. I've been a member of dozens of gyms, but never before have I been made to feel so exploited and cheated. All that Scott has to say to me is "sorry you should have read the fine print." So there you have it folks. Don't trust that a place like Platinum Athletic Club will do what is fair. Actually take the time to read the ENTIRE fine print before you sign. Because once they have you, they take every penny they can get with a smug grin. read more
