I've lived here off and on my entire life and known this place existed, but I had never been here before until now. This place could easily absorb a paycheck!
I came out with dad to get a black caladium, because someone took a pic and posted on Facebook. We wanted to give mom one for her birthday.
We drove down a road that looked like it was going to dead end. Suddenly, to the left was a huge fenced acreage of plants, trees, flowers, bushes, annuals, perennials, expensive and budget-friendly plants as far as the eye could see.
We parked and got out. To the East was a forest of trees, all for sale. To the North, a greenhouse, more trees, then we walked toward the main building. In front is an array of colored baskets of flowers, containers to plant, annuals of every description.
Inside, where it is somewhat cooler, we found plants. The checkout is situated in such a way that you can walk beside the 2 registers and ample counter space to sit your plants.
You head north to racks of hanging plants that trail down in a cascade of flowers or vines or babies you can cut to replant or trade.
We located the black caladium. I was admiring a gargantuan airplane plant. I reached up to touch one of the hanging babies and it fell off the stem. Uh-huh oh!
When we took our plant to the counter, I offered to pay for it. I explained what happened. She waved me off and told me to go home and plant it. Thanks!
Behind the main building is another area for perennials. It was chock full of plan tables that will make a return appearance. I went back last week and bought a pink, white and red hibiscus to plant at mom and dad's. They will come back next Spring, grow taller and flower for years to come.
I will certainly be a more frequent customer! read more
