Planterra is beautiful. My friend had her wedding here and it was so gorgeous. Live trees, beautiful flowers, two little coy ponds, everything was so gorgeous. The venue is incredible. The centerpieces on the table were so beautiful, gorgeous white flowers with green, freshly picked leaves. Along with the candles... so pretty. The food was 3.5/4 stars. The bread is disappointing, the chicken was not flavorful, but the steak was good, cooked medium for everyone. The scalloped potato are great, and the asparagus was undercooked and undersalted. The desserts are great. The drinks are weak. But it's a wedding venue, what do you expect. However... I do know what my friend paid per person. And it's a lot. It's really expensive for what it is (a wedding), but it's also a wedding, so I get it.

Went to the new greenhouse to get some plants for a friend. WOW! What an amazing conservatory! Such tropical foliage...and they have the largest living wall in Michigan! You are missing out if you don't visit here. It is so relaxing, so beautiful, and their selection is outrageous! Plants ranging in price from $4 to hundreds of dollars, and various other objects relating to plants and gardening, etc. WOW! That's all I can say. I know, not everybody likes to go to West Bloomfield, but it is not on Orchard Lake Road (cursed be that road) and it is quite unique in so many ways. Also, their building is very eco-friendly. If there were an option for 6 stars, I'd give them six.

We were sat quickly and the brought out the highchair at the same time. We started with the crab cakes and French onion soup! The soup was perfectly prepared and very delicious 8.9/10. The crab cakes on the other hand were boring had little flavor very disappointed 4.0/10. Then we had the wagyu burger with fries and a side of baked Mac and cheese. The burger was excellent I would recommend to anyone 8.7/10. The Mac was delicious as well 7.5/10. We did bread service as well for my Son, it came with a pesto butter light and fluffy ($9) seemed a bit excessive to charge that much for bread. Decor was very interesting, they had trees growing out of their center booths I loved it! 4/5 fells very fair taking into account food quality, value, decor and service. We will be back, next time to try desserts!

Disappointing on every front…read more I ordered the steak frites, as did two others at my table. All three were requested medium. What arrived told a different story: the doneness varied significantly across the plates, suggesting a kitchen with inconsistent execution and little quality control before food leaves the pass. Beyond the temperature issues, the steaks were under-seasoned and presented with little care... not what you expect at this price point or for this type of occasion. The service compounded the frustration. Our group was large, and it was clear the staff were not adequately prepared or staffed to handle that. Mistakes accumulated throughout the evening... mis placed orders, missed requests, a general lack of coordination had our plates dancing all night. What was most disheartening was the manager's response or lack thereof. When the issues were raised, there was no meaningful acknowledgment, no accountability, and no effort to make things right. For a restaurant that presumably caters to celebratory dining, that kind of dismissal leaves a lasting impression. **Bottom line:** If you're planning a special occasion, I'd strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. Vive Bloomfield did not rise to the moment, and a night that deserved better was diminished by an experience that fell short at nearly every level.

From Retro Bliss to Corporate Miss - 1Up's New Management Hits Rock Bottom…read more.. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 1Up Arcade Bar, once my go-to haven for arcade nostalgia and friendly vibes, has devolved into a shell of its former self. Under the new management, the experience has gone from retro joy to something resembling a garish corporate money pit. If you're looking to relive the good old days of arcade glory, consider this your neon-lit warning sign to stay far, far away. First off, the bartenders. Remember last year when 1Up's bartenders were warm, cheerful, and chatty, making you feel like you were part of the family? Well, those days are deader than my high score on Pac-Man. The new bartenders treat you with the exact enthusiasm you'd expect from someone waiting at the DMV. Ordering a drink here feels like you've personally interrupted their day--and heaven forbid you ask any questions about the menu. Smiles? Gone. Friendly banter? Vanished. You're left standing there with your overpriced, uninspired drink wondering if you've wandered into a soulless high-end cocktail bar by mistake. Ah, the drinks. Once playful and creative masterpieces that added to 1Up's charm, they've been replaced with pretentious, unimaginative concoctions that scream, "We're fancy now; please empty your wallet." No fun, no spirit (pun intended), just overpriced disappointments. At their current price point, I half expected the drink to come with complimentary resentment from the staff. And don't get me started on the arcade machines. Gone are the iconic retro classics that made me feel like I'd stepped back into the golden age of arcades. Instead, the place is now stuffed with bright, flashy, wallet-draining horrors you'd find at a Dave and Buster's. What happened to the charm? The authenticity? Now it's just a playground for toddlers with no attention spans and those who value flashing lights over actual gameplay. Speaking of, if you're a Gen Z-er armed with your parents' credit card and an inability to go three seconds without dopamine overload, this place might actually be a dream come true for you. The rest of us? Not so much. Look, 1Up Arcade Bar used to be a gem, but now it feels like a soulless cash grab. Don't come here hoping for a genuine arcade bar experience because you'll leave disappointed--and poorer. Save your time, save your money, and spare yourself the heartbreak of seeing what this place has become. RIP, old 1Up. You are sorely missed.

Farmington Hills Manor - The $34 vegetarian plate. When I showed the owner this he said that is what they serve and shrugged.

Although the facility was beautiful and spacious, the staff were less than friendly and the portions for the amount charged were terrible. Our youth attendees received chicken tenders and fries, it was 2 tenders and a handful of fries, approximately 10-12 fries. Our adults received a small chicken cutlet, half of a potato sliced, and for vegetables 5 string beans and two baby carrots. The vegetarian plate was one potato's quartered and a handful of veggies. To my dismay, when the owner was told about the dissatisfaction with the portion sizes, he was extremely rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. I would not recommend doing business with Farmington Hills Manor.

They insisted on a plated meal and at first you think wow - fancy and convenient! But they really do that to control the portions because they do not cook the food in house - it is outsourced from another vendor which I realized on the day of our event. The portions were offensive - adult plates that we charged our guests $40 for came with a small piece of chicken, 1 piece of potato cut in half, and literally 4-5 pieces of green beans and carrots. We were stunned! The kids plates - which we charged $25 for - had a meager 2 chicken tenders and 10-12 French fries. It was so few we counted them! Our vegetarian requests that we gave in advance? They simply took the chicken off the plate and served the handful of vegetables and they upped the potatoes to 4. After the event I talked to the owner to voice our dissatisfaction and the charm did a sharp turn to rude and condescending. I asked for compensation for the vegetarian dishes - he said sure I'll pack you up some veggies (as he showed me a Sams club value size of frozen mixed veggies). There were other events I had planned on booking with him - this could have been a fruitful relationship but after his response to my complaint - I told him to erase my January booking and we would not be back and he did not care. He was extremely dismissive. Other than the food - the venue was clean, nice, and the staff were friendly. Photo below of the vegetarian dish!
