Very poor experience. We rented a condo for a week through Plantation. The person I spoke to about renting the place said their was a $300 deposit (which I thought was really high for a studio style condo with no special amenities) but that we would get it back minus the cleaning fee which would be about $75. About 3 weeks after we checked out, we finally got the deposit back, via mailed check, and the cleaning fee was $150! We only stayed 5 nights, left the place clean, and nothing was damaged or broken. When I spoke to the same representative, she said that $150 is what the cleaning company charged, and there was nothing she could/would do about it other than send me the cleaning bill. AWFUL!!!! The other bad reviews don't surprise me. AT ALL. My husband was hired by Plantation Realty in Crystal River to do some repairs and remodeling on some of their rental houses. In my opinion they have the MOST dishonest and shady people working there I have ever dealt with. He did great quality work at very moderate prices. These people went behind his back and rewrote some of his quotes for work to be done and charged as much as double to the unsuspecting owners. When he completed the jobs there were many times they didn't pay him what they agreed to. One incident involved Plantation Realty docking his pay by $500 saying it was because he stole something from the tenants house where he completed a job. When my husband went to apologize to the tenant to let him know that he in fact would NEVER steal from a home ......the tenant was SHOCKED to hear that Plantation had taken money from his pay. There was NOTHING missing from the house. The tenant himself was beyond upset by the notion that Plantation had seemingly lied about there being stolen items! He agreed to stand up and confront Plantation to which Plantation then called it a "missunderstanding." This office which includes Renee who is the rental manager and Rebecca who is office manager are beyond unprofessional and just downright fraudulent. My husband is an honest and hard worker and for this office to completely lie, take advantage and scam him is ridiculous. As I read the comments below I see they don't treat the tenants any better! TWO words - STAY AWAY! If I could give them ZERO stars, I would, but yelp mandates at least one star in order to post. They rented us a delinquent property (full well knowing) going into FORECLOSURE and the property was OWNED BY THE OWNER of Plantation Realty. NEED I SAY MORE? We are professionals relocating to the area and CANNOT believe the lack of service, professionalism, ethics, scruples (etc.) this business had. We were in utter shock and dismay when we were SERVED with FORECLOSURE paperwork by the court clerk at our doorstep a month into our stay. When asked for an explanation, Plantation Realty gave NO APOLOGIES or remorse for their business decision or actions. Our situation was complex, or so we were made to believe by them, when we came on a house hunting trip a few weeks prior to moving. We had given them ample time A FEW WEEKS PRIOR to start looking for short term rentals for us due to our unique situation (we had dogs) and needs because we would have very limited time during our house hunt trip. Upon arrival, we found that they only started to attempt the search that day. They showed us approximately 5 - 6 properties, all of which were dirty, old and not kept up with a high rent price tag attached. We were really baffled by the lack of selection, bad properties and high price - but not knowing anyone in this area or any better, we took a chance and gave them the benefit of the doubt. - they were recommended by the company's relocation company. Boy was that a major error on our part. We were too trusting. At the end of the day, our options were almost none (PR blamed it on the "season") except for this one particular property that was the only one willing to accommodate our pets (one was a bully breed mix). We felt like with the move right around the corner, we really did not have any choice but to take it. Basically in hindsight, we felt pushed into the decision. They told us that they would continue to look for us, but that never happened. Apparently they came up empty week after week, so we basically had no choice but staying put or look for something on our own. Moving being such a hassle (we had temporarily brought down a bed and other necessities - this rental was furnished), we figure we toughed it out for 3 months and/or until we found a house to purchase. So many things WRONG with the rental other than it was being rented while being foreclosed on - 1. Upon arrival the place was literally filthy. Dust, dirt, carpets were nasty, grass overgrown, kitchen stove was greasy and grimy, kitchen cabinets had dead insects in them and the plates and glasses were greasy and dirty, vents were dusty EVEN THOUGH we had requested for the property to be cleaned prior to move in. We practically spent 3 days disinfecting the entire house and picked up 2 canisters worth of dirt and dust from the carpet. There were beer bottle tops underneath the couch. 2. Trail of ants that would NEVER go away. We asked PR to take care of it and they sent a technician out once and when that didn't help, they basically ignored our requests - there was NO RESOLUTION or attempted RESOLUTION. 3. The pool broke and started leaking at then end of the first month into our stay causing the water to turn brown and a dangerous breeding ground for God knows what - this was viable health concern. When we asked for a reduction in rent since this was an amenity that was a part of the lease that is no longer in use, they first told me yes, then later turned around and denied ever saying agreed (basically calling us liars) citing the "pool is a perk and not factored into the rent" ... huh?! If you check the rental listing of this home, it says "INCLUDES POOL". Mix stories - all different ones from everyone who worked at PR. No one could get their stories straight about getting the pool fixed. Days later, we were served with FORECLOSURE papers, and that explained volumes as to why this dumpy rental was not kept up. Such a shame b/c we do believe this property had potential. Everyone we encountered in the PR office was incredibly unprofessional, disorganized, scattered and incompetent . How they managed to be in business for the amount of time they have been and continues to be is mind boggling. They are dishonest, violated basic ethics and took advantage of the situation. Who knows how many people they have taken advantage of over the years and how many never came forward to voice their story? Thankfully we found another rental at the end of this 2 month hell to move into. Moving is already a hassle, what we went through was completely unnecessary and I hope no one will have to ever go through what we went through. read more

If your looking for a home to rent do not rent from Plantation Realty in Crystal River off Ford Island Road. When we moved into our home on Mustang Blvd they promised to clean the carpets and they were black, the job they did was shoddy at best. There were electrical problems, pool problems and more. They continued to lose payments and to deposits. When we moved out Renea the person we worked with said we would get the majority of our deposit of 1350.00 back. We got a total of 136.84 back, they charged us 450.00 to clean our house and if anyone knows my wife the house was spotless, they charged 250.00 to pressure wash the home even though it was clean, they then charged 300.00 to de flea the house there were no fleas, they then charged a 75.00 dumping fee even though there was nothing to dump. They then charged us 50.00 for rent from Feb 2016 that they said they missed. Rebecca the manager said if I disagreed I can put it in writing. Don't rent from them they will rip you off. read more
