The course has rolling hills with nice elevation change on a number of holes. Unfortunately, the fairways were browned out, many with little grass at all. The greens have some sort of weed mingled in which is higher and thus gives a two-tier level to the greens. I know it is a challenge in this geographic area due to the sandy soil and I hope they can correct these issues.

Also, the buffet for Saturday nights' get together was pretty yummy. Good job guys and gals. And thanks for putting up with our shenanigans.

The ambiance was nice, with a cool blue environment. There were a few flies, which was a little annoying but not a huge deal. The fresh cookies were amazing, and I really enjoyed the Reuben sandwich. I had also seen the ribeye Philly cheesesteak, which sounded really good, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the meat was extremely chewy, and each bite took a long time to chew. It was disappointing because the sandwich sounded so good, and I expected better quality meat. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and plan on coming back. I just hope the ribeye Philly cheesesteak improves because it has a lot of potential!

I can no longer recommend Ocala Bets after playing in Sunday's tournament…read more They have some great dealers, but the consistency simply isn't there. I'll be the first to admit that dealing poker is difficult. Keeping the table comfortable, enforcing rules, tracking cards and bets, and managing the action requires skill and concentration. It's a job I honestly couldn't do. That said, anyone taking on that responsibility should be committed to improving. On Sunday, too many dealers were paying more attention to the football games than to their tables. Raises weren't consistently announced, and dealers weren't communicating how many players remained in the hand. These are basic responsibilities, especially when people are playing with their own money. I'm not new to Ocala Bets. Being open for only a couple of years doesn't excuse ongoing problems. The expectation should be consistent improvement. The gentleman I spoke with on Sunday acknowledged my concerns and said this was a known issue. He mentioned that there were many new dealers, but the dealers I observed being inattentive were not new. In those cases, the issue appeared to be a lack of focus, not experience. Every poker room has issues, but that doesn't make these problems acceptable. I'd rather drive an hour or so to play at The Silks.

In fact, a cop pulled me over and the first thing he asked me was, "Do you love horses?" I told him they were my life and he let me off the hook. I wasn't in Ocala or at OcalaBets for horses though. I was here for a poker tourney. After the tourney, I went to the bar and ordered some food, which was Steak Tips & Rice. It was served in a bowl that slopes downward toward you, which is always cool. If being a Pro Skater or Surfer is Cool Level 10, it always makes me feel like I'm at Cool Level 8.7, which is pretty high! And the food was delicious. I kept searching for one more grain of rice so I wouldn't be done yet, but eventually I was done. This made me sad. But then I chose to focus on the positive memories and I was happy again. The service here is strong. Everyone is friendly and efficient. Even the chef came out to say hello. The atmosphere is also a big win, but that's only if you're comfortable in a horse racing/poker environment. I would look past that anyway and go straight to the bar for food. It costs nothing to go and my meal was superb. Definitely recommended!
