The second thing is the sheer range of things they sell -- every time you walk round a corner you think Oh, they sell those here too!. Having said that, despite having wandered through the store on a number of occasions I've hardly ever been tempted to actually buy anything -- somehow all the plastic kitchen gadgets and china ornaments and garden stuff and are all things I seem to be able to do without. But it's an excellent place for browsing!

They aren't kidding when they call this place a cave. The building is really old (I want to say…read moreseventeenth century) and the ceilings are super low. However, they're the only proper fabric shop in Knaresborough, and this is where I would buy fabric and trimmings from when I was first beginning to sew. The selection is small, but the ladies working here are ever so helpful and very pleasant. They've usually got quite a bit of unusual buttons and such that you wouldn't find in a more mainstream fabric shop. A great resource if you don't fancy going into Harrogate or York to pick up basic fabric or thread.

At around midday today 20th September I visited the Northallerton branch I asked a member of staff…read moreon the floor what the price was of some weed killer spray which was not priced up. Haughtily he said that they were too busy to help and I would have to check at the till. He then walked to the one of the tills, because there was indeed, a large queue waiting. There was nobody at this till, I thought I was to follow him, so I asked him to please price up the item. Haughtily, yet again, he said to go back to the end of the queue and wait for a price. I could not believe his attitude for such a simple request. Employing him is doing the company no favours at all, I am afraid. All I wanted was the price of some weed killer! Shame on the Company and shame on the Store Manager for employing him.

If you do manage to get in , the aisles in the clothing department are narrow and frequently blocked. This shop is a disabled persons nightmare. The previous two reviews are absolute twaddle - they probably have been written by staff. I have not found staff friendly & efficient - they frequently seem more interested in each other than serving customers. I have visited this shop since it opened - I will NEVER go in again (as I am a carer for an elderly relative who is wheelchair-bound I can not get in anyway). This shop is to be AVOIDED at all costs!

I go in occasionaly and I find half their stuff quite nice and fashionable and half of it a little too mature for me personally. I think, over all, Evans is a great ladies clothes shop and offers something different to a lot of the other high street clothes shops.

This is a large NEXT location, located as part of the Victoria Shopping Centre in Harrogate, which…read moreopened to replace the old store on James Street. The store is fairly large and modern and stands out within the town centre, it is over multiple floors, stocking a decent range of Menswear and Womenswear, although the Home section is much worse than other Next stores. There is an Italian-style cafe, Caffe Massarella inside the store too, which is a useful place to grab a quick coffee while shopping. The interior of the store was clean and modern, and easy to get around the store. The staff seemed friendly enough. PRO TIP: If shopping in Harrogate, you may want to go to this store last, they are open slightly later than most of the other stores in town, closing at 18:00 (still early but better than other shops nearby. 4*

Located next to a large John Lewis store, in the Monks Cross area of York, this is quite a large…read moreMarks & Spencer store, from the outside, the store does look nice, impressive and modern. Inside the store, there is also a typical M&S Cafe as well as a Filmore and Union bakery, which has a small range of sandwiches, cakes as well as hot drinks - Filmore is quite big in the Yorkshire region, and has a large branch in the city centre, and also one at the train station in York. The staff around the store seemed friendly enough, but they didn't stand out exactly. The store had quite a large Food Hall, the selection of to go food also impressed me at the deli counter, although sadly none of it was either gluten-free, and the food which wasn't labelled as containing gluten was not suitable for coeliacs due to preparation methods which were a shame, this was quite a new thing for me having not seen this before at my local Manchester store, although at the time of writing this it has now been introduced in Manchester and possibly nationwide too. The checkout area, however, was a little messy and not as good as the Manchester store which I visit quite regularly, another main factor this store was missing compared to Manchester was the fact fresh juices such as freshly squeezed orange, and lemonade and the infused waters I enjoy were not on offer here. Parking is available it seems at both sides of the store, on the other side near the food hall, I noticed a few eateries and part of the construction of the new York Community Stadium, which will be home to a cinema and York City FC. A nice large branch of the department store chain, with a decent food hall, albeit once again it seems to fail compared to some other branches but still it is a decent and slightly above average tore which at least deserves a three-star rating.

Dotty P's is laid out very well with lots of space to move around between the clothing rails. The staff are very friendly and will help you if you need them. The prices are average for clothes and they do have sales quite frequently. The store itself is located quite near to the applegarth car park and has got car parking spaces right outside. Dotty P's caters for sizes up to (I think) size 20 which is a lot better than New look!

They are reasonably priced and they usually have a good choice of suits and clothing for work which are perfectly reasonable for the office if you don't want to pay a fortune. They wash well and for the price you can't go wrong. They often have sales events on of at least 20% off which makes the items even more of a bargain. They also do a good selection of accessories in lots of colours, hats , scarves gloves etc and also quite a good variety of jewellry to accentuate your purchases.
