As soon as you walk in it reminds you of a 1980's toy store. The smell of musty cardboard boxes and dusty toys brings you right back to the days of Saturday morning cartoons as you eat bowl after bowl of your favorite cereal. Guys and gals answered all our questions & helped us out retrieving items from cases. Super nice people and has everything your childhood heart desires. Tons of stuff from Barbies, to GI joes, Pokémon, transformers, Ez bake oven and original Nintendo systems, tons of games, comic books, trading cards and the list goes on of 80s and 90s memorabilia. Visited twice over the weekend and walked away with over $200 of treasure childhood memories. read more

Love this place!! So many retro games and items, staff is very helpful. My favorite thing was the Mario kart arcade for only 0.50cents

5/5 stars.you can play retro games for free. Also beat my duck hunt record of 80500 points

If you're looking to buy back your childhood, this is the place to go. They have a little bit of everything, classic video games, toys, memorabilia, comics, etc... Well organized for the most part, however I came for the back issues comics. They have a small table of back issues which to be honest, need a little love and attention. Most of the issues are unbagged which makes it difficult to sift through, and the wear and tear is evident in a few cases where once reasonably valuable bronze age comics have taken too much damage to be considered collectible, if that's your thing. The prices are right though, and if you're looking to pick up reader copies or introduce a younger generation to comics from your youth, you can't really beat it. If you're looking for new issues, they have a pretty decent selection on display racks, and the trade paperback section is great for grabbing a vacation book to kick back with. read more

Planet Fun will now be a MUST STOP on any Savannah trip for us! This FANTASTIC store has all the retro toys from when we were kids! It was so much fun exploring and reminiscing! It was a blast from the past and I loved every inch of it. I also deeply appreciate that there wasn't cartoon porn shoved in my face the entire time like there is so many times at other comic book stores. It was just good, clean fun you could bring your children in to take a trip down memory lane while having plenty of fun, bright things to entertain them too. You could really spend hours there. We even chatted up the cashiers about Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender! We certainly left with a giant smile and we will definitely return again! read more

Store hours: odd Staff: super nice Prices: fair It's a little on the ... worn side, though that seems to be a common theme with toy stores. There was a slight smell when I walked in. Lots of stuff from the 90s. Definitely a fun way to reminisce. They have a shelf of rubber ducks. My friend is obsessed with these things, and collects them. So I bought this hilarious looking one that I wish I took a picture of. Front window has a Pikachu that is almost as tall as I am. Bad. Ass. read more

Fantastic place for comics, games, magic cards, and more. I just wish there was more of a selection, and since they are such a popular place, I find things sell out incredibly fast. The staff is very friendly and personable, and the typical patrons are just as approachable. One thing I love is their support for local artists. They buy and sell handmade stickers, prints, badges, jewelry, dice-bags, and more. read more

The name says it all, this place is about fun and a ton of nostalgia. Walk in and you are sure to see the classic toys, comics, video games and more. You go in there and the staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are decent on some things and downright great on their back issue comics. As a comic collector I loved some of the books I found and purchased but some were absolutely shredded, others in great shape. Since you can get them for .50-1.00 each it's worth your while to look around and see what they have. If I'm back in the area I'd certainly come back. read more

Let's call this what it is...an adult toy store. Planet Fun is perfect for those of us that still have an adoration for toys of the past and present. Some of us just love the artful creation of action figures, video games...or old comics. Even if you're not into toys...or reminiscing...Planet Fun is worth a trip to browse. You may even leave with something purchased. If you're coming to do some serious shopping or inquiring about an item, the employees are more than happy to help. To do: Explore...reminisce...buy something cool to put on your desk To don't: Expect yard sale pricing read more

I'm married to a toy collector, so we got very giddy when we stumbled upon this store on our vacation. It's always neat to travel back to your childhood and see the toys you used to play with. It was cool to even see kids getting excited as their parents pointed out relics from their childhoods. We have a similar store in our town so we are kind of spoiled. In comparison, we found the prices at Planet Fun on the higher side, but if you don't have any other access to these toys, it's probably a better deal than Ebay. I thought the display and layout was great. It was also cool to see that they had a selection of "girl toys" from the 80's that if they were just a few bucks cheaper I'd buy 'em and I'm not a collector by any means. A definite stop for visiting Gen X and Gen Y-ers! read more

It is clear to me that Planet Fun was a gift from the heavens! I can not think of a better place to go if your in that area. Planet fun has something for everybody, it has toys, comics, hard to find relics of the past, and of course VIDEO GAMES! The staff clearly understand everything you could want from a place like this. Sometimes I think places like this are something you have to search for hours and hours too find but here this place is right after the Savannah bridge.Unlike most yelpers who look for the smallest nitpick I think of it like this- If you look for good things it becomes a good place. If you look for annoying things it becomes an annoying place. And if you look for bad things it becomes a bad place. However with all that said that logic does not apply to planet fun for one reason. There is absolutely, positively nothing wrong with this place. You need to go to this place, it deserves all the praise in the whole world. read more

Stopped by this little shop while walking down E. Brought Street. I thought it would be cool to go in since there was a huge Pikachu and Mario in the glass. This place has a lot of nice little gems and at very reasonable prices. Me and my girlfiriend were surprised when we found a couple boxes of pokemon cards for $.25. If you have the patience to go through all the unsorted cards then you can find some nice deals, but the majority (98+%) are just common every day cards. Otherwise they do have a nice collection of rare cards that are presorted for individual sale (for more money of course) at the checkout counter. They have plenty of comics, video games, and toys of all kinds. The people working there (at least at the time we went) were extremely friendly. Great customer service. read more

What a crazy store this is! There really is something for every kid (or people who are kids at heart). When I was walking down the street I saw what I thought was a 2XL robot (bonus points if you know what I'm referring to) and had to stop and look inside. It wasn't 2XL, but they did have a Teddy Ruxpin! (more bonus points if you know what that is) There are action figures for sale ranging from current movies to decades old ones, with my favorite being the light grey and blue old-school Batman. A whole section was devoted to Japanese manga (comic books) and anime. Of course there are boxes and boxes of comics from the USA. I got a kick out of looking at their collection of old video games. The guy behind the counter was even wearing a Nintendo Power Glove. There was always a wide variety of toys available. They also sell used toys. The Hot Wheels were 75 cents apiece. I know I'm probably not remembering some of the other categories I saw but if this is your kind of place you've already bookmarked this business and are going anyway. read more

Planet Fun appears to be the place in Savannah to stop in for your 80s (and 90s) toy fix. They had a wonderful selection of old gaming consoles and cartridges. I'm not sure what I will do with an ET for the Atari 2600, but for 2 dollars I couldn't resist this bastion of the fall of 1983. They also have crazy selection of Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and Magic Cards for $0.25 each. The selection overall isn't huge, but they are getting new things in often. Highly recommended if you want to relive your childhood. read more

Very good retro game and comic book store. I would recommend this place if you are just starting to collect retro games and comic books. I will be definitely be coming back. read more

As a collector of vintage board games, I like to stop in here from time to time when we are downtown. They have a few vintage board games, not a terribly large selection. I always love seeing what else they have in stock- especially the old toys I remember from my childhood in the 80s/early 90s. If you are a fan on Manga (I am not), you'll find large selection here. They also have a large selection of game for the original Nintendo for those of you lucky enough to own one that still works. read more

I dig this place so much! I was a bit "Meh," when first going in because I've seen a ton of comic shops around the country. But this place still managed to make me smile, because the nostalgia factor is huge here. There are a ton of original toys from the 80s and 90s, many of which I still have in my possession, as well as cool posters, comics, and DVDs. I hovered around the Pokemon cards for a hot minute, trying to help my friend find a specific card, and in the process ended up buying 5 cards of my old childhood favorites (0.25 per card). I was kind of surprised by how many original 90s cards they had; they far outweighed the amount of newer cards. There were also some dice at the cashier stand ($1 per dice!) and I rolled a gew D20s until I found some that kept giving me consistently good rolls. My current dice set is kind of sucky, so I'm hoping I can start rolling higher than 10 for at least most of the time with these new dice. Some of the pricing was very good, as some was surprising. "They're selling this for how much? I have the same thing in my closet..." was mentioned a time or two. What's very cool about this place is that, yes, it's got a ton of cool things to buy but it's also neat to just look around the store because they have so many old school toys behind glass. Even if you don't want to spend money, it's at least worth wandering through to relieve the old memories. read more

Such a neat shop! Huge variety of vintage toys that brings back such fond memories. They have something for little kids and big kids alike! The staff is very knowledgeable in all of their products. Oh my God. They're all here! Transformers, Joes, Thundercats, Star Wars, the Real Ghostbusters, Garbage Pail Kids and the Nintendo Entertainment System. I have often wondered where my childhood went and apparently it found a store in Savannah to take up residence while I grew up, got married, and started a career. This is your one stop shop for everything you left behind when you got older. The really good thing is their selection of vintage video games. My wife and I exclusively play 16 bit and under, and this place is a great alternative to the sweaty flea markets. Doesn't matter if you're local or just visiting, trust me, its worth finding a parking spot for. read more

While on vacation with the family and roaming the streets of Downtown Savannah after having ice cream at Leopold's, we happened upon this fun store. And I was instantly blown away!! As a child born in the 70's, this store took me right back to my childhood. If you're looking for a blast from the past then this is the place to go. Comics, games, video games, action figures, etc. You name it, they have it. My kids went crazy in this place and I surely would've dropped lots of money if left on my own. Nostalgia galore. Must visit shop!! read more

Planet Fun - Toy Stores Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

Although I didn't find anything to purchase, the store is pretty cool! They have a bunch of random things (old video games, board games, action figures), etc. a lot of stuff from my childhood (growing up in the 80s/90s). I would recommend walking through it if you're in Savannah and have nerdy sensibilities like myself. read more

When I came here, I was expecting a comic shop. My friend and I found it online when I typed in "Savannah Comic Shop." What I got was something much better. The figures, books and collectibles on display here are absolutely breathtaking. When I found an incredible Godzilla figure that I wanted to bring home to Minnesota, I asked the cashier if they could hold things there. I was on vacation and didn't want to risk this priceless figure getting damaged. I reached out to their manager on Facebook and he (and the awesome employees working there) ensured that the figure would be packed away in a box full of lots of cushioning material, so I could ship it home to Minnesota, worry-free. The service I received was incredible. I know I'll be back some day. read more

Planet Fun is the local nerd store. Being a recent Marvel fan, old school Anime fan, and overall gamer, it was nice to see a lot of the products. Especially locally commissioned artists or material produced out of SCAD as an aspiring student myself. My biggest gripe were the new hires working that day who weren't savvy nor adept on the technology/product they were selling. A 3DS used. Typically comes with a 2 gb SD card. They give me the charger and kit besides the card. I come back and say I knowingly bought it without the card when me and a buddy called earlier asking about the full kit. They sit on a throne of lies. However the supervisor later that day helped us correct the issue and let me walk away with an 8gb card and the new hire girl quite indignant. It's okay yo be wrong girl, but when you work against someone, it never gets resolved. You want customers returning. I like the place cause it reminds me of some pretty iconic places back home up north. But besides the one mishap, it's a neat novelty store. As for table top games and such, they are more a second hand store so I don't know. read more

This novel little gem was a great find! I could not believe the amazing novelties and splendor that filled the stores shelves. Great fun. We always find the coolest toys here. The owner is very knowledgable and friendly. A must stop when we come to Savannah.

So yeah..this just happened. Recently had a comic book store go under in my town and did a little research on places in Savannah as my Fiance and I were up there for the weekend and after reading reviews, we decided to stop in and weren't disappointed in the least! We spent well over an hour in the store and cannot wait to stop back in the next time we're up in Georgia! I literally felt my mouth agape as I walked through the store while looking at all of the vintage products that they have for sale. If you're into older gaming systems, this place is for you as they had quite a few good deals on games/systems. $4 Manga. 50 cent comics out of sleeves from Marvel to DC to Indy to Archie, and other comics in sleeves with board backing at different prices. Old figurines (Star Wars, Star Trek, WWF, Marvel, DC, Masters of the Universe, Disney, My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, etc). Tons of Pokemon. Board Games. DVD's/Blu Rays. Teddy Ruxpin. They also had a knowledgeable staff who appeared open to answering questions and offering any assistance if needed. This place is a gem in Savannah and hopefully will stay open for years to come. read more

Super cool. Curiously fun/vast selection of oddities at extremely reasonable prices. We walked off with 12 Shonen Jump manga/anime magazines for $6. My manga-obsessed daughter was in heaven. Just took my two nephews in. The younger one was excited, but the older one was skeptical at first and thought he'd be "too cool" for it. Turns out, they BOTH had more fun than they expected! The owner was very nice and patient in answering my younger nephew's questions and showing him around--he (the owner) is an obvious enthusiast himself and easily relates to other like-minded fans. The older one was pleasantly surprised to find a game controller he wanted. If I hadn't committed my total budget to buying stuff for them, I would happily have picked out any number of things for myself.
