A few months after becoming a member, I tried spinning classes, which were fun and challenging. I…read moresoon noticed the seats, set parallel to the floor, didn't fit my anatomy. I was sliding forward uncomfortably. I brought a wrench, raised the front of (just)one seat a notch, and then it didn't feel as if I were struggling to stay on. I chose the narrowest, least padded style, similar to a racing bike saddle. The owner told me I was the only one who preferred that kind. There used to be a 'needs fixing' sheet for members to list equipment problems. Some had written complaints that the bike seats were 'tipped.' So, the staff flattened all the seats. I went to Lee, the manager, and asked politely if I could have one seat (just one seat!) adjusted to my comfort. I was met with an expression of surprise and mild annoyance. Denied. The classes were never full so nobody would've been forced to use a 'tipped' seat. But even if all the bikes in the spinning studio had been taken, there were four more in other parts of the gym, which I never saw in use simultaneously. One seat on any of those could've been adjusted without forcing anyone to use a 'tipped' seat. And of course, the seat posts are interchangeable. So, on it went: I'd adjust a single saddle, a staff member would flatten it, and the charade would begin anew. I politely raised the issue with Ruby, the owner; she said she'd put a note on a saddle to not flatten it. A week later she reneged, implying Lee wouldn't allow it. The reasoning: If one was changed, then all could be changed and Lee wasn't willing to deal with that. Denied again. BUT, he accommodated all those who complained about 'tipped' seats. That's not fair. He could've easily worked with me and gotten to 'yes.' The seats are adjustable for a reason. The entire business is BASED on human anatomy, including its--ahem--variations. I was 'nudged' by the former manager shortly after starting my membership. Under my original 4-star rating on this page, she added a note asking me what it would take to add a fifth star. Consistent, prolonged and respectful treatment as a valued member, I would've told her. But, my reasonable requests were repeatedly ignored. A couple of the staff(K and K) seemed to view me as demanding, difficult, and treated me with veiled hostility. And then there's this: The two managers, Lee & Jen, plus Lee's wife, wrote 5-star reviews on this page. These are conflict of interest violations per Google usage rules. Owner Ruby added praise and thanks below these 'reviews.' P.S. The managers' illegitimate reviews and owner-added comments have been deleted. October 2023.

I was only there for the 90 day trial and I'm a night owl, so coming here closer to midnight was quiet and at times, I'll have the gym to myself! It's a great gym. However, one thing I did notice is when I go take a shower after a work out and some bugs enter the bathroom flying around. At first, I was so hysterical because I thought a wasp came in, but no, idk what it is, but it's definitely not a wasp or mosquito. Other than that, great gym.

My last 5-star review for OneLife at Pike & Rose was posted in 2020 shortly after Maryland Gov…read more Larry Hogan lifted the COVID remain-in-place restrictions. Ever since then I have remain a committed member of OneLife at Pike & Rose for a number of reasons: 1. Pike & Rose staff and trainers are awesome! Everyone is willing to help and answer your questions. If you frequent the gym consistently, say 2 or 3 times a week as do I, gym staff and workout buddies will become a positive influence in your life. This helps you want to return to the gym on a regular consistent basis. 2. The outdoor astroturf workout space as well as the natural light throughout the East and South-facing gym always supply good visual energy. I have yet to find a gym with the high quality of natural light Pike & Rose supplies to members. 3. Local manager Skyler and Fitness Director Carolyn listen to members questions and/or concerns. The over all quality of the gym, the efficiency of equipment, the way in which members approach and use the gym are all on Skyler and Carolyn's radar. They may not be able to remedy a situation at any given moment for a number of valid reasons yet they will make a note. And they are always looking for ways to improve our experience at OneLife. Things do change for the better; new equipment arrives and class schedules are adjusted to help members. 4. The personal trainers are awesome! Every single one of them is kind, polite, friendly and approachable. You can always ask them a question or two and if they can't help you, they will direct you to someone who can. Over the years I have worked out with a number of personal trainers and I can guarantee you this: you fitness achievements will increase so long as you stick to it. What ever you are facing as far a personal limitations and/or goals go, your personal trainer will work with you to help you achieve your fitness goals while remaining mindful of any physical constraints that may need extra attention. Over time, the returns on your investment working out with a personal trainer will manifest themselves in a positive way (body, mind & spirit). 5. Lastly, the cleanliness of the gym and locker rooms remains attended to throughout the day. Cleaning staff are great, I enjoy seeing them as well when I work out at Pike & Rose. Keep at it and pace yourself. Slow and steady wins the race!

No pool, but there are so many fantastic amenities and new equipment available, you won't mind. You'll get a warmup in trekking those 3 levels via stairs, but an elevator is readily available for accommodating all accessibility levels. Also, being located in the convenient area of Pike & Rose, there are plenty options to run errands, or grab food. I Highly recommend!

I see most well fit people using it. so far all are friendly and helpful. I like also the sauna as it is the only one I have seen in gyms that gets up to 212F as they are supposed to be so that you get the most health benefits and fast. Just 10 to 15 min their sauna is the same as 1 hour in others. Not overcrowded. People respect each other and actively using the equipment instead of showing off with friends and hogging eqipment I used to find in other places. They even have a private room people can use to take pictures of themselves. Reasonable camera use in the gym totally acceptable and respected by others, except in restrooms of course.

Love the gym and equipment - this gym (Rockville location) has everything you need to include several pieces of cardio equipment (but not too many because it's definitely a strength gym). The vibes are pretty good - I like the lighting, the posing room, the music, the chill staff, and that it's well maintained. My ONLY complaint about this gym is that on MANY occasions, they would just remove/change/move/add equipment with no warning. So for example, they had a nice, standard MTS row machine (plate loaded), and it was great. One day, I walked into the gym to do a pull day and it was GONE. Some other very clunky, very awkward machine in its place. Same with the plate loaded low row machine they had - loved it, walked in one day and GONE. Replaced with another back machine that was not even close to the same. I don't know, I just found this incredibly irritating! Anyway, the locker/restrooms are well maintained, there are saunas in each one, and plenty of lockers (although that was a new upgrade earlier this year, and none of the lockers have handles, so it's awkward), but whatever. The time of day I work out is awesome (around 2 am) because the gym is virtually empty, but I know during some other times of the day (bro hours, if you will), the crowd gets kind of douchey lol. Either way, I enjoyed this gym and would go back in a heartbeat. They also had a very easy cancellation system and I had no issues cancelling my membership (in advance) before I moved out of the area. *Lastly, they also offer several different plans, so make sure you find the one that meets your requirements.

The personal trainers tell you what you need to do, the machine is always available when you need it because they plan ahead, and they help you with your form. That said, I wasn't thrilled with the 6 week program at the Rockville location. Usually, 6 week programs help you lose 20 lbs (or a percentage of body fat if you're under 200 lbs) in that timeframe. It was a few hundred more then the cost of just sessions, but I saw results pictures from other people and I was promised nutrition sessions, so I thought it would be worth it. At the beginning of my program, I didn't get any before pictures or starting weight check at the gym. All that I had to do on my own. The nutrition session wasn't super helpful. I already watch a lot of videos on the topic and I aim for 100g of protein a day, so when I said what I was currently doing, they said to just keep it up and we never talked more about it. My other complaint is that not all the trainers use the app correctly. I came to the gym at a few different times depending on my schedule that week. The morning trainers never entered the weights I was lifting into the app log, so when I went to the afternoon trainer he wouldn't know if I progressed at all since I last saw him. That was kinda annoying because I'm paying over $1000 for a trainer and they don't keep track of my weights for me, I had to track that myself. The afternoon guy was good at using the app though. Hopefully they fix that. Overall, love the workouts, form critique, and direction in the gym. Accountability was good too since you scheduled sessions in advance. I wouldn't recommend the 6 week program. I started at 176.8 lbs and ended the program at 176.7 lbs, but I can see a little more muscle definition on my arms and I started thinking 30 lb weights were so heavy and only good for farmers walks, but now I use them in dumbbell overhead presses. I just feel like I didn't get anything extra out of it. Gym was worth it but 6 week program was not.

I drove about 30 minutes out of my way that morning to attend a yoga class with Kasturi, which was wonderful and absolutely the highlight of my visit. Unfortunately, the experience I had at the front desk before the class was the opposite. I brought my sister with me as a guest as I've done since 2022. My membership allows me to bring guests, and I've done so before without any issues. However, the manager, Stacy, immediately accused us of sharing a membership. This was not true and was honestly embarrassing to be accused of in front of other people. My sister was asked to sign a liability waiver, which is completely understandable. She simply asked to read the waiver before signing it. When she asked if it could be printed so she could read it more easily, she was told that wasn't possible. When I tried to take a photo of the waiver on the screen so we could read it, I was accused of taking a picture of the staff and was told I needed to leave the gym. I've never had an experience like this at any other location since starting my membership years ago. At one point the manager became visibly angry, slamming items on the desk and aggressively pushing the check-in machine toward my sister. She was extremely aggressive and rude. I was also asked to prove that I hadn't taken photos of staff by showing my phone, which I did. Nothing inappropriate was found. The entire interaction was loud, confrontational, and very uncomfortable. I've been a member of LA Fitness for years and have never experienced anything like this at any location. I've never encountered such a lack of professionalism and display of aggression from a staff member before. Again, the yoga class with Kasturi was great and worth the drive, but the front desk interaction made the start of the visit extremely stressful and embarrassing. I hope management looks into how situations like this are handled in the future, because members shouldn't feel accused or publicly embarrassed when simply trying to check in with a guest.

When we tried to take a photo of the waiver on the screen so I could read it more carefully, Stacy accused us of taking a picture of her and escalated the situation further. She demanded to see my sister's phone, including her recently deleted photos, despite there being no photo of her taken. I tried to assure her that "No one wanted a picture of her on their phone" but she still insisted to see my sister's personal photo archives. Once my sister showed Stacy her photo long, both recent and deleted that's was when she was finally able to move past accusing my sister of taking her photo. The exchange became loud and tense, and items were being slammed on the desk during the interaction. It felt hostile and unnecessarily aggressive for what should have been a routine guest check-in. The yoga class itself was wonderful and worth the drive, but the front desk experience was embarrassing and uncomfortable enough that it overshadowed the visit. I hope management takes steps to ensure guests and members are treated with professionalism and respect.
