A screenshot of a chat conversation from Planet Candy in Seaside Heights, NJ, showing messages about visiting a candy store, social media activity, and staff dinner appreciation. The chat includes emojis and mentions of customer service and staff appreciation.

Horrible service, incompetent staff, and an arrogant manager. We have always loved this place, but that changed! It has been a favorite of friends and family of ours on the boardwalk; however, they've gone downhill and there are far better choices on the boardwalk. We placed a simple strawberry sundae order on Thursday eve. We repeated several times vanilla soft serve with strawberry sauce since the young woman was confused. The staff didn't understand this request, so we engaged the manager, who was able to explain to the staff member. She was rattled and stressed, and condescendingly reassured us that "it is only ice cream." We said we understood that, but the fact that the sundae assembly was quite simple and seemed problematic for her staff, was poor customer service. She was very exasperated and remarked "how do you think I feel," when it was pointed out it was problematic It was a bizarre response to a valid criticism. After this poor experience, I wrote a DM on Instagram and was shocked at the unprofessionalism within the response. It sounded as though they had engaged a 15 year old influencer to respond. Included are screenshots. I'd never support this establishment again. The responses were not only unprofessional, but combative and insulting, clearly someone unable to receive any criticism as to their establishment. The person responding (Audrey) even went as far as mocking my Instagram (screenshot) and my "likes," which I remain unclear on. *** Addendum: Ariel of Planet Candy responded to the original review referring to a "huge scene" that was made at the establishment. This is an outright lie, and quite defamatory, as the entire interaction was recorded and will be proffered. Additionally, Ariel advised that staff was being harassed, which is also an outright lie. It's one thing to show unprofessionalism and poor customer service on each facet of this situation; however, it's a whole other story when the establishment (Ariel) created a very disputable falsehood about the interaction. This experience will be escalated offline, to not further exacerbate this situation and protect all parties from legal repercussions that now accompany this matter. However, our sentiments remain the same- don't support this place. If you dig deep enough, you'll find numerous negative reviews.*****

Burn marks from coffee not properly sealed. On the way to the ER - The image depicts a close-up view of a person's chin and neck area. The individual is wearing a gray shirt and a thin silver necklace. The skin on the chin and neck appears natural, with some visible skin texture and slight redness. The person's hair is light brown and slightly wavy, with some strands visible on the sides. The background is not visible, focusing solely on the lower face and neck.

We just had the worst experience here which left me burn and on the way to the ER. We had planned to spend the evening on the boardwalk but now we are forced to leave due to the injuries that occurred while at planet Candy. I ordered a 12 oz chai latte which took the obviously drug impaired woman almost 20 minutes to make. She didn't bother to put the lid on, And as I was walking away I went to sip it and it burned my chin my chest my stomach and dumped into my purse. When I asked for a refund the same woman was extremely nasty and when I told her I had been burned she said, "It was my pleasure." I then asked for a manager who came over along with two other employees, one of which was a male in a blue shirt who, when I explain the situation, had the nerve to say to me "You're in a coffee shop, What do you expect to happen?"I was shocked, who the heck speaks to an injured customer like that? I imagine nobody comes into your coffee shop expecting to be burned by your Clearly intoxicated/drugged up employee. This happened about 20 minutes ago, we are currently on our way to the hospital because I have burns all down my chin and my chest. I highly discourage anyone from coming here because they are extremely rude and they are very dismissive. Between the crackhead telling me it was her pleasure to burn me, and her fellow employee who asked me what else I expected from a coffee shop I can honestly say I have never had an experience like this at this boardwalk. I was born and raised in Central New Jersey and I've been coming down here a long time, but I will never return to Planet Candy. I will be forwarding my doctor's bills though, and potentially initiating a lawsuit based on what we find once we get to the emergency room annex in Point Pleasant. Disgusting unethical behavior. Making excuses for somebody who just burned a customer and then mouthed during her methamphetamine rage and excising it is not the right way to run a business. It's a super way to land yourself a lawsuit which is exactly what's going to happen. The manager and employees told me if I was unhappy I could simply leave a bad review so that's what I'm doing. Once I get to the ER I'm sure things will escalate and it will be more than just a bad review that the owner will be dealing with. This place has absolutely the worst atmosphere, the employees are rude dismissive and all around trash.

1 pound bag of Planet Candy taffy - The image shows a transparent plastic bag filled with several wrapped taffy candies from Planet Candy, a business located in Seaside Heights, NJ. The wrappers display the Planet Candy logo in blue and green, along with the business address and phone number. The candies are stacked inside the bag, with some wrappers in pastel colors such as yellow, orange, and green. The bag appears to be held by a person, with a dark background.

Entire bag of 1lb taffy completely stale and it was our only souvenir. What a bummer. Wish we would've seen the reviews first.

Cookie dough, M&M, peanut butter & salted caramel fudge

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. Four pieces of fudge for $16 seems reasonable to me, especially considering how overpriced Seaside Heights is. My fudge was flavorful and fresh. They had a great selection of flavors, and all were in stock. The staff was friendly.

Salt water taffy

Boxes of salt water taffy were stale as can be. Iced coffee wasn't too bad. Almond milk was available

Penny Candy for $0.75 per ounce! Over priced garbage.

Best fudge ever. Hands down. The best I've ever had. And with this final sentence I'm at 85 characters.

Huge variety of candy, ice cream and coffee drinks available. A fun little store to check out if you're strolling along the boardwalk!

What a great candy store! You walk in and it smells like delicious candy. I actually stepped into…read morethe store for directions to a souvenir shop I was looking for. Miriam was more than kind, especially since I wasn't a customer...yet! She tried to be as helpful as possible in helping me find the store I was looking for. She even went to ask the employees next door on my behalf! We started up a very pleasant conversation. I confess, everything looked so good, I just couldn't leave without buying something! I bought a bag of mint & chocolate malt balls for later in the day. They were really good and I wish I had also bought another bag. I came back to to the store a little while later to take some pictures so I could do a Yelp review. Miriam wasn't there but I spoke with her husband. He was very nice too. I was from out of town and he kindly shared some history of the boardwalk and the shop. It's been around for decades! The shop had a big variety of candy, it was spotless, and I think the prices were fair for quality candy.

Moving out of Jersey in 2004, the trips dwindled to twice a year, just enough to hit the boards and make the pilgrimage to Sawmill and Berkeley. The salt water taffy has the PERFECT mouthfeel, with many yummy flavors. My standouts are chocolate, cherry, peach and blueberry. 5-6 boxes later, our friends and neighbors out West can't wait for their fix! My other obsessions are: -The chocolate non-parielles are fresh and delicious. (Milk, Dark, Peanut Butter) -The candied fruit slices are also a must. -The molasses paddles are always fresh and satisfying. In sum, I love this place! -

Used to be good. But now it's just over priced nasty candy. I actually heard the old lady behind…read morethe counter say chocolate is good for at least two years. Makes me wonder just how old all that candy is. I doubt it's highly trafficked anymore. In my opinion it's a major rip off and not worth the stop. Go anywhere else. The women running it are sloppy as well. Not very presentable and certainly unprofessional. ETA: heard recently from a friend that she bought hollow chocolate bunnies and her kids found MAGGOTS inside them. Gross!!!!! Another ETA: A relative of mine walked in to attempt to get candy for Valentine's Day. She was so incredibly grossed out by the smell of smoke and absolute filth in this place. Dirty candy molds, old crap everywhere and the office looked like a hoarder lived in it. The lady behind the counter was moving so slow no one was checked out in the 5 minutes she gave it and in that 5 min is when she made the observations and left. How has this place not gotten shut down?!

The women working in the store were not only unfriendly, but flat out rude. The store is unorganized, and the selection of chocolate is poor.
