We had a fun time checking out Planet Bee Honey Farm. The honey is so good and the mead was amazing. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Planet Bee is a must-see in Vernon. Everyone was very informative and helpful. It's a great souvenir stop for homemade honey with different flavours and honey wine, among other things. You can taste almost all of the honey flavours being sold and there are honey wine tastings for those over 19 years of age. I didn't intend to buy as much as I did, but it's hard not to when you can TASTE how good everything is. I left with two bottles of honey wine (Blueberry Blossom and Blushing Cherry) and three jars of honey (Okanagan Multi-floral, Blueberry Blossom, Planet Bee Creamed). I regret not buying more. This was a definite highlight of my trip, and my parents are excited to try the wine that I've brought home :) Go if you can!

On our way to Tappen with empty stomachs we stopped at their Vernon location for a sandwich. Both craving BLT's the lovely K, thanks to Yelp saw that they had that offering. We pulled in, parked, and entered the store. It's always a treat to go in as the store is well stocked, well lit and always clean. The young man that helped us at the counter was courteous and informed us of the soups that were available that day. Borscht I think might be a staple here, and the other offering was Mulligatawny, which we have made at home. Our soup and sandwiches ordered with the choice of back, or side bacon, we went to the bistro area to await our lunch. Prior to stepping away however our bacon was cut fresh from the side. Who does that? Needless to say our sandwiches and soup were delicious, and from the looks of it we weren't the only ones that have discovered this gem. Another redo while in Kelowna or Vernon? You betcha, and we can't wait!

After lunch we spent about $75 in the deli and had some of the best meats, sausage rolls and pepperoni sticks we've ever had! My only complaint is that they're so far away from where we live! Five BIG stars to Helmut's!

Raised on a farm, I know what fresh milk, churned butter, fresh cream, and homesteader's cheese tastes like and there is nothing on the market that I've sampled that even comes close to it as this cheese does. The ooy gooy melt of this cheese has points for flavor and for texture and consistency. I personally love cheese and can appreciate a good cheese when I taste it. I've traveled North America, Europe and Asia - this cheese is now my choice staple cheese for all of my cheese casseroles, pizzas, cheese bread, grilled cheese sandwiches, paninis, omelettes and cheese plates. I highly recommend you testing your favorite cheddar or any other cheddar cheese product against Okanagan's Choice Cheese, and coming back and telling me what you think, yourself. I love the marble brick, for most of my favorite recipes. Please give it a try. You might just find your new favorite cheese is not just Okanagan's Choice, but your choice. (No one paid me to write this review. This is based solely on my own preference. When I find a good product, I am only too happy to share that find with others.)

As far as cheeses go it was rubbery and felt heavily processed, not what I expected from a local cheese factory. If you like Kraft cheese well that would be fine. I expected something more like a New Zealand Kirkland Cheddar and that it is not. Maybe the factory does a proper crumbly cheddar but the promotional product is just that. American style cheese.
