WHAT a great store. It reminds me of wonderful boutiques in small towns where you can find a little bit of everything you need (clothing, jewelry, gift items). It has an extra loving, kind vibe in that it is somehow connected with the disability community (and specifically people with intellectual disabilities). I believe they sell artwork and certain products that have proceeds going to support a local non-profit. The whole experience made me want to spend my money there vs some of the other upscale stores on Southport or Armitage. I love exploring the Lincoln Square neighborhood and all of their spots. Planet Access is just another one of the great stores in this area, I love their mission! Not only is all of their merchandise super cute & of good quality, the staff were super friendly & helpful when I went in to find a Father's Day gift. They were all wearing masks and following COVID-19 protocols which I appreciated! Made me feel like they were prioritizing their customer's health and safety. Recently, I realized that all of my favorite casual weekend clothing was purchased here. The selection is carefully curated and, unlike some boutiques that only sell things for folks under a size 8, I have always found great things in my size. The prices are not low, but are appropriate for the quality of what they are selling. Compare the quality of one of their Toad & Co. brand t-shirst to one from H &M or Target and you will immediately feel the difference- six months of continuous wear later, the Toad & Co. will still look and feel new and the cheaper one will be a rag. read more

So, whenever I am in the Square, I duck into Planet Access to have a look around, natch. And nine times out of ten, I fall in love with something. Whether shopping for yourself or a friend/loved one, there's no shortage of unique items. A gorgeous pair of woolen mittens that just happen to be the same exact shade as a scarf you need to match. A muslin summer scarf with a special design detail that happens to be an inside joke between you and a friend. Wintry scented candles that will warm over even the hardest to please relative. This is a great store. I found a dozen things I wanted to buy - picked up a nice pair of sunglasses for under 70. Excellent collection of cloting, accessries, and home goods. I haven't seen such a large selection of Woolrich anywhere! Picked up some fun home accessries (coasters, candles, soap) and my friend purchased up a couple great shirts. The sales people were very informative and quite sweet. This store has a great selection of clothing in brands I like and like others have said here, some brands they carry are socially conscious. I had an experience that was questionable however, with the purchase and return of an item. Understanding no stores wants customers returning items so they won't be too happy, I still expected to have no problems returning it well within the window and within the bounds of their return policy. I spent a long time trying to buy something that I wasn't really crazy about to begin with, because I was unable to find a better option and the store down the street (Uncle Dan's) that I would have gone to is not open. Anyway, I decided to return my purchase after realizing I never wanted to put it on. For some reason, when I gave the associate my receipt, my credit card, and the item, she said the card was not the right one. The last four numbers did not match the last four of either of my cards and that is all I own, so I don't know what happened. This is when it seems they could have been more helpful but they just stood there staring at me. I felt their disbelief and felt stupid. I finally looked up the transaction on my bank app and showed them the exact date and exact amount and the correct store and info. It was clearly charged to the correct card I had offered her. They seemed reluctant but they did finally process the return but there was arrogance in how they handled it. I called the bank to just be sure to verify that I have no cards with those numbers and again have the agent check that the charge was correct and of course, all was good. Her only explanation for what happened is that the store's machine made an error. I have no idea how it happened but the way the employees left me feeling, make me hesitant to shop there even though I do like their inventory. I like to shop locally and tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I would recommend being careful about what you buy that you are 100% certain you will keep it because it appears from the reviews that this is just how people are treated in this store. If it happens to you, don't take it personally because no one should be treated like that in a retail store in a friendly area of town. Maybe they are upset they have to be exposed to the public and are forced to process returns. I would understand that. read more

I've always liked this place and bought quite a bit from them, so I was disappointed to be in the store on Saturday to find the saleslady (I think curly brown hair with glasses) mocking a customer behind her back (though she was purchasing items). How rude! Hello, management . . . you've gotten quite a few reviews where they said service tanked the experience. I hope you start listening. Lincoln Square is a small, tight neighborhood and I've seen businesses go down for less. Respect your customers and hire people that want to help them, not make fun of them. Very sad. read more

I want to love this store, because the clothing is beautiful and affordable. But on numerous occasions, I have experienced such horrible customer service that I have walked out. This afternoon, I stopped in and was the only customer in the entire store. Two salespeople were behind the counter when I walked in. They both looked at me, then looked away and did not greet or approach me the whole time that I browsed. I wanted to try a few things on, but I couldn't bring myself to interact with these women. Somewhat overpriced, and still they have to pull a 'bait and switch'???? Spent almost two hundred dollars on clothing here at full retail markup, then tried to add on a (n already overpriced) little brass and waxed thread necklace, but was told by the cashier that it was priced incorrectly, and she would be charging me the 'correct,' higher price for the item, and is that okay. No, it is not okay. It's called bait-and-switch, and it's illegal. I checked the other three identical items on the rack, they were all priced the same as the one I was trying to buy, which I pointed out to her. Still no concession from the cashier. I would have to pay the 'correct' price or no sale. So...no sale. In fact, no sale ever again. Standard practice would have been for you to sell me the item at the marked price, then pulled the rest and mark them 'correctly.' Since when is the customer expected to pay for YOUR mistakes? That'll teach me to shop retail. Shady business practices here, keep your eyes open. read more

I had passed this storefront two times while strolling the Lincoln Square strip and couldn't pass by one more opportunity of entering. While the space is quite open with clothing, footwear and accessories which are nicely displayed throughout, it still seems a bit sparse. I took a look at their sweaters which were 25% off and they were still pricey at around ~$100 each. I will admit that the materials and quality were stellar. What I learned about PAC is that they have a parent not-for-profit company called Search Inc. which "empowers persons with developmental disabilities to achieve their full potential, accept a valued role in their community, and lead rich, rewarding lives." PAC does this by selling products of socially responsible brands (Horny Toad, PACT Apparel, Nau Sustainable Clothing and Kayland, to name a few) to help fulfill their mission. One fall coat by Horny Toad did catch my eye until I saw the price of $135. If I saw the coat on a pay day I would have probably purchased it, knowing everything behind the store, however, their prices are a bit steep. On another note, the staff was very friendly and helpful. If you have the money and like to help others by simply shopping somewhere like PAC, I'd recommend it. read more

This is a wonderful store and a great addition to the best shopping strip in Lincoln Square! I have shopped here a couple times and on both occasions the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable about the brands. The store was a bit more sparse when it opened in the fall but I was in there last week and they have a lot more in the store than before. I think that I prefer the winter line to the summer line, the Horny Toad and Nau coats and sweaters are incredibly warm and comfortable. I especially like the look of the nau brand. It is really expensive but when I buy things like that I know that it is more of a clothing investment, quality over quantity. I have a horny toad jacket from years ago that I still wear because it's an awesome jacket and it's held up incredibly well. I also really like the mission behind the store too. You can see the info about the not for profit parent company on the website. I think that it is awesome that I can be a greedy consumer while being socially conscious! My favorite store for clothing. They have a wide variety of brands such as Nau, United by blue, and many, many more. I just went on a clothes buying spree the other day, and I could never be happier with my purchase. Planet access pays great attention to quality of clothes, and this store is truly a bang for your buck. Not to mention, the store is all about environmentally conscious clothing, whether it's a Nau jacket made from organic cotton and recycled polyester, or an amazing tee from untied by blue: a company that removes one pound of trash from the world's oceans and waterways for every item bought. read more

Many cute and unique items in the store,-love the selection but not family friendly in the middle of Lincoln Square, which is super family friendly. Went in yesterday, two parents and two kids, one 7 year old and a 1 year old. 1 year old is of course very busy but my husband and 7 year old followed her around and replaced anything she moved. Employee was super rude and irritated there were kids in the store--asked they stopped touching things and making noise. Never offered to help in terms of making an item selection. I found a cute summer dress for $60 but had no desire to give her any business. As we walked out the door she started making rounds about the store as apparently we didn't do a good enough job replacing things. Will never go back.
