Quite the busy lunch spot midweek.
I hadn't dined in a proper pub yet while in Australia, so when walking by here at lunchtime, it seemed the time to check it off the list.
In the heart of the city, this pub was packed with area office workers. I was really surprised I found a table for two in the corner. Only because everyone else were larger groups.
You order at the bar, pay, take your number and find a seat. The server brings the food out.
Ya ya I know it's a pub, but I'm not a big beer drinker. So I ordered a local Riesling wine to go with my fish. I was not disappointed by the wine or my lunch selection. There's a small portion section on the menu- I highly suggest these items. They are far from small, and very hardy. The Guinness pie was massive. The flaky crust cradled chunks of tender beef in a rich dark gravy. It was accompanied by an equally large portion of delicious mashed potatoes and peas. Now I see why all the guys eat here.
Atmosphere is loud. The decor is awesome. All the dark rich wood, hardwood floors, and high ceiling. This isn't a typical Irish pub, you are in Australia.
No clue about parking, since I walked everywhere. read more
