Pizzeria Picco Bella only recently opened in the 17th district, two blocks east of Elterleinplatz, and I was excited to see a good-looking pizza place in the area. After sampling their pizza yesterday I can, with confidence, Yelp that this is a pizzeria I hope survives the strenuous environment that is the restaurant business, because not only was the pizza delicious, but the people working there were super friendly (and seemed genuinely so).
I tried their Margherita pizza to get a feel for how they make the classics, and it was quite tasty. For only €6,50, I got a pizza that was definitely twice what I could eat. I also ordered an "American pizza", in which the crust is layered with cheese (these are apparently becoming popular in Vienna), and that pizza was quite good and not too cheesy, surprisingly. The American pizza I sampled (there are all sorts, and you can order essentially any pizza "American" style) was called the California pizza, with spinach, egg, and bacon. I quite liked this pizza as well, and the eggs were cooked to perfection (for me at least, with runny yolks). :-)
Suffice it to say that I'm glad to have a pizza place near my flat, and I hope they maintain the quality of food and service as first presented yesterday. One day I might actually eat-in, seeing as the place is quaint and gemütlich, if you will, and the chef/owner (?) was so friendly. read more
