The server said it was tempura batter. It really wasn't tempura but it was tasty none the less. We split the 10 oz smoked meat sandwich platter ($15) which came with fries, cole slaw in a vinaigrette and dill pickle. The meat was hand cut and delicious! Nicely flavoured and pretty lean. Rye bread was fresh. They added yellow mustard instead of letting us do it ourselves. (My partner is not a fan.) We also split an entré sized Caesar salad. ($7) Romain could have been a little smaller. Croutons were fresh. Cheese was lovely. Real bacon bits. Presentation was very nice. Friendly atmosphere. Obviously full of locals. Very clean and bright. Recently renovated. Kitschy tavern style chairs and tables. Menu is limited. Smoked meat, spaghetti, nachos, poutine, pizza (all come with smoked meat on top) and wings. For this type of restaurant it was ideal. Another note about the service, I mentioned above that we split the smoked meat platter; it was served split into two baskets without being asked. The pizza itself (we got the 7 mushroom) tasted really good The cons: it's a 10" pizza that seemed even smaller in a big box. It wasn't cut. And it cost $30. Not worth that. And they had other cheeses you could add which raised the price by another $20. Didn't stay in to eat, but the place looked nice. I won't be going back.
