OMG, I love this place, and if I am ever in Prague again, I am definitely going back. Yes, next…read moretime I am in the Czech Republic, I am going to an Italian restaurant. After a long day on the Terezín Concentration Camp tour with Sandeman's New Prague Tours, I was hungry and looking for a place to have dinner. As I was wandering around in search of a restaurant, I came across Pizzeria La Ventola. The reason why I love this place so much is that the food is delicious; prices are inexpensive; the wine is cheap; the service is friendly and attentive; and there is free wifi. Because there were plenty of free tables (the place wasn't dead, just not overly busy), I didn't feel as if I had to rush, and was able to relax and enjoy my meal and look things up on the internet on my phone. I loved the place so much that I went back two more times, for a total of three times. I would have eaten there four times (I was in Prague for seven nights), but on the penultimate evening of my trip, I was so exhausted that I went back to my hotel room at 5:30pm and just stayed there, too tired to go out. The first night (Friday October 23), I had a small Margherita pizza (85 CZK) and two glasses of Merlot (50 CZK each), for a total of 185 CZK (before tip). The next night (Saturday October 24), I had two glasses of Merlot, Penne Roma (142 CZK), dessert (79 CZK), and a bottle of water* (35 CZK) for a total of 356 CZK (before tip). On my third visit (Monday October 26), I had three glasses of Merlot and the Penne Roma again. The Penne Roma ("penne with chicken pieces, spinach, garlic, onion and cream") was absolutely delicious; I swear, it was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever eaten in my life. The sauce, garlic, and seasoning--just perfect. The dessert I ordered, the Koule (which means "ball" in Czech), was also delicious ("ball of vanilla ice cream wrapped in pistachio nuts served in a bath Belgian chocolate"). If you're in Prague and looking for delicious food, reasonable prices, and wifi access, then go to Pizzeria La Ventola. *Water is not free in Czech restaurants, even if you order food and drink. If you want water, you must buy a bottle of water, as they will not serve you tap water for free.

This is a small restaurant located in a hotel but not a "hotel restaurant"; most diners seemed to be locals. Nice small restaurant vibe. Prices were pretty reasonable considering the quality we got. It´s opened till midnight and sometimes even longer. Local pizza and kebab are actually pretty good. Another advantage of this place is that they do delivery. You can also order non-alcoholic drinks. The next greatest part is they are open late, sometimes even when I get home from the bars. Also I love their gyros! They use a really thick pita and pile it high with their delicious chicken kebab and loads of fresh veggies for only 75 czk. Its more like a Mediterranean Burger than the gyros I'm accustomed to, which is not a bad thing by any means. Like all gyros I've had in Prague though, they use chicken instead of Lamb. They also have pizza ready all the time so you can get it by the slice for cheap too and its quite good too, up to the same standard of the million other pizza places around town. The service is great. Definitely above average. They are quick, really friendly, and speak great English for all of us Americans living in Zizkov!

You can order by making your own mix or select from a menu. They also have an assortment of drinks available to purchase with the pasta. The tables are on the upper level and the chefs will bring the pasta to you. Each table has their own olive oil, salt, pepper and basil plant so you can add more fresh basil as you please! Normally their side wall has a bunch of basil plants but maybe this time it's a colder, so the plants are smaller than what I remembered. Overall, it's one of our favorite pasta in Prague and we will be back!

When you walk into Pasta Krusta you'll see big posters detailing the types of pastas and sauces available. The pictures are helpful, especially if you don't understand Czech or Italian (the two languages the descriptions are written in). Food here comes fast, and you watch it being cooked to order in front of you. I had the all'amatriciana which was available paired with fusilli or tortiglioni only (not the traditional bucatini). Ignoring that this dish is typically both spicy and rich (due to guanciale, a key ingredient), I enjoyed my dish at Pasta Krusta. It was fresh and light and powered me through an afternoon of interviews (no easy feat). Their mint iced tea was way too sweet for my taste (I prefer it with little to no sugar). Were I in Prague again, looking for a cheap, quick, tasty lunch, I'd come back to Pasta Krusta.

When your waiter asks how everything was, and there are folks in the kitchen listening in and smiling when something positive is mentioned, you know they care. I had the linguine with prawns, garlic and shaved cherry tomatoes. Excellent! The pasta was perfectly cooked and steaming when I dug in. The prawns melted in the mouth and the extra garlic I asked for was spot on. Wonderful flavours! I had the arugula salad with goat cheese, beets and berries. My first impression was there was not much goat cheese, but then when I dug in there were tons of 'chunks' hiding under the greens. Fresh, crisp and a perfect side with the pasta. Overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back.
