About 10 of us were at my dad's house visiting and helping out. When it was time for dinner, dad recommended I go pick up some pizza at this local place. I ordered 3 Greek salads and 4 pizzas: 2 XL House special pizzas, 1 XL cheese and 1 gluten free pizza. We all enjoyed some salad and pizza, and there was leftovers as well. The pizza was excellent, very tasty, full of cheese and generous toppings. The pizza ingredients were tasty and fresh. The crust was thicker but very nicely risen and flavorful. The greek salads were good as well (the only thing missing was olives, which is usual for Greek salad). The staff was very kind and nice to speak with. When I arrived they were busy with a lot of pick up orders. We waited just a few more minutes for our pizza to finish and we got them piping hot to bring home. The facility is small, and clearly does a lot of delivery and take out, although they have a few tables for people who wanted to sit down and eat a meal at the pizza shop. The prices were quite reasonable for a small town like this. Overall, Stettler Pizza has surprisingly excellent pizza, warm and gracious staff, and reasonable prices. When I return for family visits, I will be back.

I would say that it was better than average though. The bacon was cooked just right and the hashbrowns were quite tasty. I didn't check for WiFi but cell service was good which we expected since we're in a town. The owner came to chat with us for a while. He lives right next door so he's basically always here. That's always a good sign. There were other customers here at 11:30 when we arrived. There's lots of parking if you are towing a trailer. There's even a trailer sandi-dump next door if you're in need of one. All in all this is a good place to stop for a bite in Castor.

We had resigned ourselves to a fast food chain when we spotted Nick's Family Restaurant. It's spacious and they seem to take the pandemic seriously with hand sanitizer and tables spaced out. A lot of rural businesses only have the signs up and do little else. The staff at Nick's are doing things right regarding Covid-19. Those were likely the best yam fries that I've ever had, not that I order them all that often. Our sandwiches and burger were both good and very good value considering the price. I have eaten here many times, it was our favourite restaurant and we were dining here on average once a week. After today, we have no interest in going back. We understand it is open to families, and children will play when they get restless. The staff on hand did nothing when two children spent 30 minutes: -shrieking at the top of their lungs, piercing and painfully loud -bouncing off the walls and waiting area chairs -grabbing and shaking the pictures on the walls But instead, scolded us for speaking up and suggesting the children should be taken outside to work off their energy. It may be a private space, but being open to the public means it should be a place with an atmosphere conducive to all patrons, not favouring one over the comfort of everyone else in earshot. We are all for family environments, but when every other patron in the restaurant is wincing and covering their ears from the sound, it is too loud. The biggest problem, and the reason we won't go back, was that at the end of our meal, one of the staff (we assume the manager) came over and chastised us for speaking up where they wouldn't. The staff did nothing when the parents threatened us for making a comment after waiting very patiently for them to parent their children. Instead, she told us we had to go sit on the tap house side if we had a problem with the screaming. She said 'we' made the parents uncomfortable by speaking up (after patiently waiting 30 minutes for someone to settle the children down as a courtesy to everyone else there). She ignored our side, insisting we could not be physically pained by the shrieking from the benches in the waiting area beside us, and said we were not being hurt by it. If that is the attitude of the staff at this restaurant, there are other places in town we can eat that have fantastic food and will treat everyone that dines there with more respect and courtesy than we experienced at Vintage Kitchen today.
