Well only sad in my pizza crazed world of cheese addiction and perfect crusts. Pizza napolena manage to avoid those depressing pit falls. It's an independent take away and there aren't too many of those left in the Brighouse area. What you need from a good take away is of course good food but also reasoably promt servie and value for money. All of which are achieved. Good choice of toppings, nicely cooked base and crust and it's not hard on the back pocket. Sometimes only a pizza will do and I have Pizza Napolena on my speed dial. Always a good sign. Trust me I'm a pizza expert (if an expert in little else).

Looking back to the 80's, Luigi's used to be a popular pub, its in a great location at a major intersection with plenty of parking. The full bar is still present but the place has had a complete overhaul. Upon entry you are greeted by one of the many friendly staff that work there, we had reservations and were shown to our table right away, even though we were a good 30 minutes early. We got drinks whilst we waited for some of our party that were late arriving, the wait staff were completely unfazed by this and had no problem waiting, which was nice. We ordered a multitude of things and let me say there were no complaints from any of our party. I had the garlic pizza bread as an app (you'll have to share with the whole table as its very filling!) which was fantastic, they have a wonderful pizza selection and each one that we ordered was absolutely perfect, great crust baked just right and the sauce bold and robust, the calzones come with a side of dipping sauce was a beautiful mild tomato sauce that had a hint of cream, i recommend asking for a side of this for your garlic cheese pizza bread, yummy. The chicken, seafood and pasta dishes were unbelievable, cooked to order and severed piping hot, and cooked to a standard you'd expect in a city center bistro, high standards here for sure. The amount of specials available, in addition to the substantial menu made choosing what to have a real chore, but that's not a bad problem to have i think, especially when you consider everything we ordered was so damn good. Attentive and friendly staff, incredible food along with very reasonable pricing will make sure this place will be buzzing at the weekends, i'm going to go out on a limb here and say you will certainly need a reservation over the weekend to ensure you get a table. We were there on a normal mid week night and the place 90% full, a wonderful testament to a truly great spot, so if your looking for a hearty, authentic Italian dish, go here!

Got our bill through and we were charged 15p for 'a cup of rice' - to give to countries in need, I've no problem with this at all, but I think they should have told people, esspecially if people walked in with a certain amount of money which only covered them for their meal and it should have been a choice. Some people prefer giving to local charities only etc. I think it is a great idea though, imagine all the cups of rice they can buy for poorer countries :) Also my plate was dirty, it had a big clump of old pizza bread on it so that wasn't nice. They could seperate the buffet tables out a bit too, if you've got one person at the pizza table and another at the salad table you can get a bit too close for comfort.

Aldo's has seen off countless opposition in Cleckheaton (in the form of various restaurants next door) and it has now bought the premises and knocked through to make it into a bar. As it was a quick visit I only intended to get some pasta, but I was tempted by the two course early bird menu and opted for meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce for the starter and Tagliatelle with chicken liver and bacon for the main. Excellent value for less than £10! My son ordered from the children's menu and went for the chicken goujons after I wouldn't let him have pizza!. Now, my nine year old son is sadly not into food and he doesn't like meat. He wants to be a vegetarian.... but he hates vegetables! Anyway, he had half of my meatballs and he devoured all the chicken goujons (very tender in a delicious light batter - I stole a bit when he wasn't looking!) How many stars is it worth? For atmosphere, service, location (only five minutes walk for me!), friendliness, variety of food it must be five stars. However, some of the meals on the specials board seemed a little overpriced; lamb steak £18 for instance, and that didn't include veg or potatoes! Also I have been rather spoilt this past year with visits to Casa Mia in Chapel Allerton and the superb Salvo's in Headingley, both of these establishments offer better food in my opinion so overall I will have to give Aldo's 4 stars but it is certainly a place I will keep returning to.
