We were visiting to do the typical tourist WWII tour near Normandy (end of may- early june 2014). The people working were super friendly, accommodating, and fast paced even during the busy hours in the evening. I would highly recommend this as your first stop for pizza as this is the best tasting in the town, and the friendliest. Later on in the night, I actually met the waiters and one of the cooks out at a bar. They instantly took me in, taking me to local spots, introducing me to the people, and overall making me feel welcome in a foreign atmosphere. P.S Elliot or any of the staff members... We've been traveling France and Spain for a week and should have known that our best meal on the trip would be authentic Italian. I had called ahead to be sure they were open unlike the other restaurants we drove to, and the owner was exceptionally accommodating with reserving us a table, treating us with great service, and the food (local cider, homemade pasta, and dessert samples) was amazing (coming from two who know our Italian cuisine!). We especially appreciated that our waiter (who I'm guessing is the owner's son) practiced his English with us as we struggled with our French. Excellent service and meal - and the limoncello, so good! I would definitely recommend Casa Antonelli! My friend and I agree this meal and family-like service was the highlight of our trip!

In fact, there are so little places to eat in Argentan that my coworkers had to eat there for three meals out of four meals, and i had to eat there two out of two meals. I was told that the restaurant is owned by the same chef/owner as the renaissance hotel/restaurant (a michelin mention) and because the renaissance was closed all week long the time we were there (in oct), they kept referring us to Maria. However, once we get to Maria, we are told there are no opening (restaurant is nonetheless empty) and after i insisted in french that the hotel sent us, they finally let us in and told us to eat quickly (I guess they have a lot of reservations for later and was afraid we would eat in french time - which is not leaving until lthe night ends). We assured them we needed to be back at the hotel before 9pm so they were okay with it. Anyway, having eaten there for dinner and for lunch the next day, I would say the food there is decent, and the service is decent. Nothing about the place stands out besides the fact that the interior is modern whereas the town is small old french town in normandy. One of the small handful of choices to eat in argentan if you dont have a car and dont wanna eat steak frites or croque monsieur at the million brasseries in the town.
