Alas, my first experience of this takeaway joint wasn't as amazing as I'd hoped. I guess it's purely a matter of taste and I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but the pizza just wasn't up to scratch. Lacking in flavour and perhaps a bit too thin in the crust department, my pepperoni left my wishing i'd ordered a side of chips. However, flavourless food doesn't seem to have put anyone else off as the place always seems to be occupied, mainly with those on their way home after a few scoops at The Black Lion, a few doors down. Perhaps that's the key to enjoying food at La Citta - just add alcohol and it tastes amazing? Hmmm. I may give it another go some time but for now I'll just keep walking. That's a much healthier option, after all.

Like the child that I am, I had also figured that since my mother was on a business trip I would be fending for myself that evening. So a pizza with lots of peppers and things on from Pizza la Citta (take out and delivery) was just the ticket. Italian heavy decor and colours, it looks a lot nicer than other take outs I have frequented yet in terms of layout/ menu pictures it differed only slightly. It just seemed cleaner and nicer to me. Prices were reasonable and the pizza came out really quickly. There were a few other people in the shop and up till this point I had always seen people in there on my walk home and envied them. Now I was one of the beautiful people - well, I had a beautiful pizza anyway.

The pizzas come in two sizes, 9 and 7, perfect for one. Prices start from just under £3 for pizzas. Firstly you can never get hold of them when you try call to book for a table or to order for collection. We went there last Friday evening and the manager told us that they just don't answer the phone if they too busy. Which I think it ridiculous and such bad management. Secondly we walked in to make a booking as we tried 3 weeks in a row to call and book and no one answered. We got there and were told to wait an hour before we could get a table. We waited. Eventually we got a table it took another hour to get our food. We watched a family of 7 people arrive for a birthday dinner which they had made a reservation for, the manager turned them away and said that they too busy. Service is a massive role in the restaurant industry and the service lead by the new manager is appalling.

Angelo offers a huge menu with both Italian, Indian and American cuisine on offer all at reasonable prices! One can order an 11" pizza for an average of only £4 or a Curry from anything as little as £3.50. What makes Angelo's Pizzeria stand out from other takeaways is it's Meal Deals and combination food options! The menu offers 9 very useful meal deals. Examples of which being donner kebab, chips and can of drink for only £3.49 (deal 4) and deal 7 which is superb for a group (I ordered on a girls night in!!) consisting of 6 pieces of southern fried chicken, 5 hot wings, 3 portions of friends and a large bottle pepsi for only £9.99 (cheaper than a bargain bucket at KFC!) Angelo always delivers on time and prices are very reasonable! The majority of times I have ordered an Angelo's takeaway it was 2am as it stays open later than most takeaways and will still serve me my Pizza during my drunken urges for something greasy, cheesy and quick!!! It was always tasted very scrummy and filled my need for fast food!!

My friend and I wanted to grab some food before we grabbed a taxi back home. The menu isn't the biggest I've seen, but it had everything I wanted so all was well. I went for a chicken ceasar wrap with chips. The wrap came in this foil sleeve which was a welcome change to paper wrapping in which the sandwich or kebab disintegrates and gets cold as you take it home. Popolino's has seating too and is nice and cheap - £3 for a wrap and chips isn't at all bad. A good place to come and grab something in between lectures during the day as well as a late night eatery.
