Year after year the quality and service declined, and eventually I stopped going. I rarely order delivery, but wings sounded good and Fire Wings is the closest to me, so I gave it another shot for old times sake. I have dined in at the midtown location before and it's fine, fast casual and usually busy late night. Today, I ordered the 10 wing combo with plain fries. Hot take, but I've never liked their seasoned fries. They always feel overcooked and oily to me. I got mango habanero and lemon pepper, added five extra fire wings, and an extra ranch. The total would've been $38, but I had a $10 off coupon, so it came out to $28 before tip. Still expensive, but that's delivery pricing these days, not really the restaurant's fault. What is their fault is the size of these wings. Look at the photos, they were like toothpicks. I used to love Fire Wings because they served good quality wings with a lot meat on them. These had to have had less than an ounce of meat each. And it wasn't just a few of them, like 80% of the order was undersized. I honestly feel like they might have set aside a bunch of small wings for delivery orders, because the last time I dined in they were not this ridiculously small. The fries were whatever, basically standard frozen fries. I do remember that they used to give a ton of seasoned fries back in the day, but it looks like they also skimp on fries as well these days. The ranch was just okay, nothing special. The mango habanero was solid, one of my favorite wing flavors. Lemon pepper was just okay. And the fire flavor, which is supposed to be spicier than regular buffalo, tasted exactly like regular buffalo. This will be the last time I give Fire Wings my business. I have to accept they just aren't what they used to be. At this point I'd honestly take Wingstop over them for bigger wings and better sides.
