The Belle Vue is a certain kind of quaint. With a bookcase of old books, a tatty lampshade and…read morerustic framed pictures, it was a perfectly pleasant find in Bangor. There are two rooms with a bar in the middle, joining the two. We chose to sit in the room to the left of the bar since it seemed cosier, with various decor quirks, including a funky 3D-style picture of James Dean. I longed for a ginger beer but, to my disappointment, they were all out. From my glance at the fridge they did seem a little low on soft drinks. A Fentiman's Victorian Lemonade came in at £2.50, the highest price I've seen so far for Fentiman's in a pub. Ouch! Service was alright, so much so that there's nothing that stood out to me, good or bad. We did notice Tesco's own brand ketchup and brown sauce on the tables. How cheeky of them! The Belle Vue was fine for a one-drink stop, although I'm unsure how it would fare for any more than this.

Quiz night on sunday (loud music and no way you can have any conversation of any meaning.), a fake Christmas a month before X-mas. Pizza and one drink for £5,- witch is very cheap and looks very well! Then you have, loots of tea, beer and other drinks, like any other pub. It is a good atmosphere, none of the tabels are the same, their many different chairs, some are litte broken, but that doesn't matter. Even if it is quit, it is a warm place to stay. They serving their food on marble plates, like the ones you can see in the Flintstones :) It is a shame we could eat there: except of the chips, everything is made with gluten and dairy: pasta, pizza, burgers.

There is some free car parking nearby but immediately outside the restaurant the car park is entered through a barrier to which you have to pay in order to gain access. There is a children's play area adjacent to the car park and you can also walk the length of the pier. Although children are made welcome as always in Italian restaurants, this is a lovely place to go for a grown up Italian meal. Although the usual pizzas and pastas are available they have additional more unusual menu items to tempt your appetite. The food is very well prepared and presented and the staff are friendly and make an effort to make the experience special.

The one BIG problem is that they do not answer their telephone, and there is no answerphone. It is a very good restaurant and as such is often busy and if you just turn up it is unlikely that you will get a table. So to reserve you MUST phone in the evening of the day before you want to go, as they only ever answer their phone in the evening. There is a car park right next to the restaurant with a barrier and a £1 charge, but there is plenty of free street parking nearby if you would rather avoid paying for parking. (It is not the restaurant's own car park, they have nothing to do with the charge, it is a council car park for people visiting the pier). It is also worth noting that this restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays and open evenings only, not lunchtimes. The staff are charming and go out of their way to make sure everything is to your satisfaction and they often stop and have a chat beyond just food, asking where you are from and what you do in life etc., which is always nice. All in all a fantastic restaurant that you can visit again and again as there is a good sized menu that is regularly changed according to season.
