This Pizza Express is located in the Stockton Heath suburb of Warrington, a short drive away from Warrington's centre. The closest parking spot nearby would be next to Marks and Spencer but I did find it difficult to park in the area as a non-local.
PRO TIP: Be sure to take advantage of their Pizza Express Club loyalty scheme on their app, after just a couple of visits you can get a bunch of freebies to make your trip more affordable. Without these offers, it can be a little pricey however once you unlock the gold tier you're able to get bonuses such as a free soft drink, bottled water, dough balls, coffee and Dolcetti and the list continues.
The prices here seemed to be slightly higher than at other Pizza Express locations, the pizzas ended up costing around 50 p more here, compared to many other Pizza Express locations, again if you have a large party and are ordering multiple courses and drinks, it will add up fast.
I managed to get a table here with short notice on a busy Saturday afternoon, the restaurant is rather small and can get rather uncomfortable when it is busy, as there is so little space between tables. From a business point of view, I can understand they want as many tables as possible because more tables are more revenue, but it's coming at the expense of comfort and even being able to have a conversation with the rest of your party when dining.
The staff seemed friendly enough, but they did appear to be short-staffed and it was difficult to find a staff member's attention when needed, this led to me making the decision to pay when my party had received their desserts, to save time in getting the attention of the servers again.
For food, I opted for a gluten-free Pollo Forza, with gluten-free dough balls. I requested all food to be delivered at the same time and this was actioned without a kerfuffle, when ordering my waitress advised me that this pizza is a little spicy, and while I knew this already I'm sure many people would be appreciative of this reminder in case they didn't realise.
My pizza was a good standard, it had nice flavours and the added spice was something I enjoyed, I would say the chicken was slightly chewy though, and I had to pick off bits which I just couldn't eat, but all in all it was a good pizza. The dough balls were fine, however, the portion of garlic butter could have been more generous, especially as it was starting to melt when it was brought to me.
The other two members of my party opted for a Funghi Di Bosco Pizza and were pleased with it, this is their regular Pizza Express order. They also did mention how they found the interior (tables too close together with children running in between tables, lack of booths) was not as comfortable nor visually attractive as other locations.
All in all, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return to this specific Pizza Express, but some positives for sure and I would consider returning if I wanted to-go pizza or was in the area. 3* read more
