This was my second visit to this Pizza express. Went in for tea the first time, and it wasnt great, so left it a while to "bed in" before returning. Popped in on a monday at 2ish? for a late lunch. Service was fine to start with, but took a downturn as all the staff left except for one poor waitress, who had to serve the remaining 6 or so tables, plus the overs who popped in! Doughballs (what else!) to start, followed by a Fiorentina and a chicken ceaser salad. Food was lovely, and the romana base I had was exactly what I wanted. Resteraunt was clean and tidy, but very warm as it was a sunny day and they have soooooo much glass! Prices were reasonable, and the little Peroni Gran Riserva was an excellent companion to the Pizza. The lack of staff was an issue however; the phone was left to ring for ages until the chef popped out to answer it, and another table left without being served. This is no reflection on the waitress, who did as well as anyone could ask, but the management may want to rethink their staffing levels!
All in all, was enjoyable, and I would revisit. However, its still not a patch on the excellent Pizza Express in Lloyds Avenue! If you fancy a Pizza, id pop there instead, unless I really wanted to be on the waterfront. read more
