Pizza is not too bad, but I ordered breadsticks and they sent me a toasted, buttered hoagie bun in a box.

Trattoria Da Lina has become our family's "special occasion" restaurant in Takoma Park, though it's…read morejust as wonderful for an ordinary weeknight when you want outstanding Italian food. It's family-owned and operated, and you feel that warmth the moment you walk through the door. The staff are genuinely welcoming, happily accommodate substitutions and dietary restrictions, and often recite the nightly specials with a delightful mix of English and Italian--usually accompanied by a compliment about your outfit or your dinner companion that makes everyone smile. We had Christmas Eve dinner there this year, and it was every bit as memorable as we'd hoped. The portions are generous enough to share or take half home for lunch the next day. I especially recommend the Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata, and the classic mussels, all prepared beautifully. Don't overlook their neighboring pizzeria either--it's our go-to for both takeout and casual dining. Trattoria Da Lina is the kind of neighborhood restaurant every community wishes it had.

It's on the same block as a really nice Thai place and a nice Mediterranean spot as well. There weren't many people on a weekday night so we just walked in. Street parking is free after 7 PM. The star was the margharita pizza. And we also got a calzone, which was also really good. The texture of the crust and the little slight crunch and the sauce was really great. I wish there was more basil on the margarita pizza. There were three pieces of basil on the entire pie the pasta we got was the seafood pasta and it was a bit salty and portions are a bit small, but maybe that's the norm now? And we also got this other mushroom ravioli thing that is also pretty good but just really small. I think it was like five or six pieces of ravioli for $24. Service was fine. It was standard. The restaurant was a little bit hot during the heat wave. I wish it was a little cooler so with the four dishes altogether it was over $80 before tip for two people and we just had a little bit left over which is why I thought the value was more 3.5 than a four. That said, I'd still come back and get the margarita pizza and calzone - they're really quite good.

Somehow, I had only been to this place during the winter time, but it is a completely different vibe during the warmer months. The outdoor space is stunning, and everything just feels brighter and happier. The staff are really nice, the patrons are enjoying themselves, and they just have excellent food. My friend and I happen to come during this fashion show event so there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres for everybody present, but we still ordered delicious deviled eggs (I could've eaten a whole tray of them) and had some great cocktails. You know, for the first time ever, I paid attention to a bunch of board games that they have on a shelf. But based on the stuff that's on the shelf in front of them, I am not 100% sure that they are up for grabs, but it still looks cool. Anyone who is in this area should definitely pay them a visit. You won't regret it.

My friend and I showed up for a late lunch, and after I stood waiting for service for almost five minutes, the bartender finally came closer to me and said the kitchen was closed. She had been looking at me the entire time and didn't say anything or try to signal to me, so I found her behavior pretty rude. Also, I had previously visited this restaurant for happy hour and found the food and service to be average.

TL;DR: $8 for a few onion slices! I've been a Pizzeria…read moreParadiso customer for 20 years, first at the Dupont and Georgetown locations. So I was thrilled when one opened up in Hyattsville, not far from where I live. My partner and I have been there many times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it. But we were flabbergasted by our most recent experience. The food is as good as it ever was, but the value just isn't there. We were in on a Wednesday night and noticed a table sign for a special: two large pies and two appetizers for $60, so we ordered that. We each had one drink as well, and split a dessert. The bill came to over double that amount! We have paid less when eating in fine dining establishments. Why was our bill so high? Two main reasons: first because the upcharge for an additional topping is $4 each. I would expect that for fancy meat or cheese, but we only added red onion slices. Onions are one of the cheapest things in the supermarket, and $8 will buy a lot of onions. But I guess that's on us for not noticing that all additional toppings are the same (high!) price. Also, PP automatically adds a 20% charge in lieu of a tip. I have mixed feelings about that (and about the increases in tip culture in general). Our service was fine but not exceptional. Sadly, we will think hard before returning to PP. There are many other good pizza places out there.

Ordered takeaway from this location for the first time. Hubby and I ordered their spinach and…read morecheese calzone, Italian boat, and mozzarella sticks. Total came out to approximately $30. What's Hot - Quality. Pretty good. I really liked that their dough was soft and chewy. I've been to other Three Brothers locations, where the dough is more tough. At this location, the dough for the calzone and Italian boat was more tender, which I like. They provide a decent size cup of marinara sauce that comes with their dishes, which is a good flavor. I tasted a slight kick. It doesn't taste like their marinara is the typical jarred sauce. They don't appear to skimp the filling/ingredients. The calzone and Italian sub had a good amount of filling, including cheese. They were very generous with the amount of cheese in the calzone. Not too salty, which is also something I appreciate. - Service. Prompt and reliable. We arrived within the 15-20 minute window they provided for us to pick up our order. It took us around 20 minutes to arrive there and by the time we did so, our order was ready. There was a receipt with my husband's name on it. I gave their staffer my husband's name and he was prompt in handing me the order. Food was warm upon pick up. Nicely packaged, as well. The calzone and Italian boat was wrapped in aluminum on a paper plate, and put inside a pizza box. That certainly helped with carrying and transporting our food. - Menu. Fairly good variety. There's a lot of meats and cheese. It's typical Italian fare, minus the veggies, which I address below. - Cost. Mozzarella sticks cost approximately $8, calzone, approximately $11, and Italian boat approximately $11. Pretty good value for money, especially given the portions and quality. What's Not - Quality. The spinach calzone had less spinach than anticipated, which was disappointing. There was more cheese than spinach, so to be fair, this is a matter of personal preference. - Inside layout. There are several tables and chairs inside. I saw a few tables that can seat a group of more than 4 people, so it's a decent space. However, the overall restaurant space is kind of small, so it's kind of tight inside between tables. - Location. It took my husband and I longer to get to this location, because of its location. It's at an intersection with several stoplights. As such, given the traffic conditions on the day and time you go, it can be easy to spot or miss. That also means the plaza might not the easiest to get in and out of, because it's such a busy intersection. There are several parking spots in front of the plaza, but it might be difficult depending on the day and time you go. - Menu. For the most part, there appears to be something for everyone, with the exception of vegans. I prefer if they have more vegetables on their menu. Final Answer Would be willing to come back again, but only for takeaway.
