Forman Beef & Beer is located right near the pick-up stop for the Holiday Inn Brno shuttle. Brno is…read moreloaded with steak places, and Forman was recommended by a friend of ours. The restaurant is nicely furnished and is a somewhat imposing two story building for Brno. The Asian Beef Salad (~$8) was a sparse bed of lettuce, with tender chunks of beef adorning the salad. The salad was a little heavily dressed in a sweet, sesame dressing. Lime was served on the side to help cut down on the sweetness. Two slices of bread were also served with the salad. The Creamy Mushroom Soup (~$3.50) was very rich and creamy. Pieces of mushroom were swimming throughout the bowl. The soup was nicely earthy, and contained something that I could not pinpoint but made the soup intriguing and enjoyable. The soup was strangely adorned with a few slices of beef carpaccio. The Beef Burger (~$9.75) was cooked to a nice medium. The thick patty was nice and juicy. The burger was topped with a slight, overly sweet teriyaki sauce, slices of avocado and a spicy mayo dressing. The interplay between the teriyaki sauce and miso dressing was a rather interesting mixture of flavors. The sweetness was subdued by the saltiness of the miso. The avocado also added another layer of richness. The fries were thickly cut, but could have been crisper. The Rib Eye (~$14.00) was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The steak had a nice beefy flavor. The steak was slightly under seasoned, but juicy. The steak came with a side of peppery arugula, and some gummy mashed potatoes. The Chocolate Cake was very rich and decadent. It came with marinated cherries, which were intensely flavored. The cherries did slightly overpower the chocolate, but it was still an enjoyable dessert. Although Forman is one of the more expensive restaurants in Brno, we had a very good meal and thought it was worth the cost.

I heard about this place from a friend of mine and liked it so much, my family went twice! The…read morefirst time we ordered mushroom soup (best I've ever had), steak tartar (excellent and big portion), pea pods with bacon (excellent), two different ribeye steaks (excellent), and chocolate cake for dessert (to die for). The second visit we ordered mushroom soup (because it was just that good), beef noodle soup (very good), steak carpaccio (good), and a beef dish with cranberries and potato cakes (good). Of course we ordered chocolate cake again! I'm not a big fan of dessert but I couldn't get enough of that cake! Definitely plan on splitting it with someone because it's very rich! Our meals the first night came to around $40, and the second night less than $30. Amazing food for SO cheap!

We ate there in early May, 2018. Nice place, hidden back in neighborhoods. We ate inside because it…read morewas threatening rain, but there's a really nice outdoor dining area. Because we're light eaters we only had appetizers and drinks. I ordered an apple-mint nonalcoholic drink, which was delicious. We got the bacon-cheese wrapped plums and the "lard" (smalec). Neither was huge, but both were adequate-sized and most important they were delicious. It was maybe the best smalec we've had out of the dozens of times we've had it over many, many trips to Poland, served with great crusty bread and pickles. The plums were six toothpicks of bacon and plum poked into slices of apple and cheese, with side splashes of plum compote and what we decided was a horseradish and egg sauce. Absolutely yummy and the service was good. If we lived in the area, we'd definitely come back and try their other offerings. (And they had a good crowd of locals: always a good sign.)

He crafted the beams, the roof, and even the furniture that still furnish this tavern today. Thanks to his dedication and passion, I can now host you in a place filled with memories and warmth. This is not just an ordinary restaurant. It’s a home where every brick and every beam has a story to tell. You can even see the original serving window in the brick wall, reminding us of the old tavern that once operated here in the interwar period. I wanted you to feel at home here — to enjoy dishes prepared according to my family’s recipes. Here you can taste sour rye soup (żurek) made with a starter just like my grandmother taught me, homemade lard with pickled cucumbers from Charsznica, slow-cooked meats with potatoes baked in a bread oven, and pancakes and pudding exactly the way I remember them from my childhood. Every bite is a journey back in time, and every visit is a new story I want to share with you. If you’re looking for a place that combines flavor with history and a truly homely atmosphere, I’m sure Karczma Rogata will be a unique discovery for you. I warmly invite you — come and experience the true taste of history. — Krzysztof Hankus, Owner
