Kanada...Canada...Pizzerie....Pizza....Canadian Pizza??? Italian pancakes? Maple syrup on prosciutto? State troopers serving you beer? I don't get it, but that's ok, because Pizzerie Kanada is a solid 4 stars (no pancakes on the menu).
Came in for a 20-year police academy class reunion so we had the back room reserved. More than enough for 20+ people.
Service was efficient and very well organized. Each person received a tab and every time they ordered something, the waitress would mark it down. At the end of the evening, everyone had their own bills tallied up and except for the one guy who drank too much and forgot to pay his tab (he found it in his pocket and went back the next morning to pay), it all went very smoothly.
The food for this joint, I will admit, did not fill me with hope. I was expecting something that was just OK partnered up with exceptional beer kept in pristine lines.
I was wrong.
The food was good. Everything that came out was freshly prepared and of higher quality than you'd find in most moderately prices restaurants in OC.
Pizzas were made fresh and tossed by hand, covered in high quality cheese that didn't congeal at room temperature and had a telltale depth of sourness that only clean cheese have.
Steak and Ribs were tender and flavorful, not over cooked, lacking sinew.
Burgers were great and the buns held together well. Basic toppings were clearly taken from the actual plant rather than from a bag. Potatoes/Fries were on the thicker cut side but still seasoned well and fried lightly.
Grilled chicken breast was very tender and juicy with light salt and a nice gravy sauce on the size to go with the potatoes.
Espresso was very good.
Other dishes that came out I don't really remember but everyone seemed happy and there were no complaints.
I don't expect to have any reason to return here unless it'll be in another 20 years, but if you're reading this and looking for an easy place to grab a decent meal and a couple beers while passing through the town of Holesov, I'd say Kanada (despite it's seemingly random name), is a very safe bet.
