Nanny's Nook Quality DayCare Center

I am a foster parent of a young child (Infant). I am also a working parent and was in desperate…read moreneed of a day care. A friend of mine and any others suggested Nanny's Nook due to it being very clean. I will say it is a very clean place. That I do appreciate. However. a few weeks in it was very obvious the owner did not like me and my child... Possibly because I was a white women fostering an African American son. I would get constant notes or reports of him drooling to much, being stiff, and so on. He always was good there behavior wise as far as what was reported. Me and my husband spent night after night at the doctors trying to fix his drooling and had an Occupational and Physcial Therapist evaluate him with no significant findings especially due to his young age, teething, and many other factors including being a foster child. All this was relayed multiple times to the owner. I continued to shrug off anything she said until I got a note home saying "does he poop every morning?" I was in disbelief that this was even asked because I didn't understand the issue. My FS does poop regularly anytime and every time he eats typically within a half hour to an hour he poops... I thought that was normal?. I responded with a note back that I put in his back pack I doubt it was even seen. The note had on it his morning schedule and the answer which was yes he does poop every morning after he eats. His morning typically involves milk when he wakes up as he is usually hungry and he drinks it. I then get him changed out of his completely peed through diaper from the night and change his clothes. We then get into the car and head to the day care. It on a good day takes 15 minutes however over the winter it took a half our to sometimes an hour. within that half hour to an hour or even the 15 minutes the vibrations of the car and him being again an infant he would poop. I will note that diapers and wipes for him were supplied by me as per the day cares request so they always had supplies. I secretly started my search for a new day care. I got on waitlist and was trying to be patient. The final straw was when I was accused of not feeding him as he eats like an "animal" she called him. She stated he was ravenous. I would like to note that he is very tall, overweight, and just a big baby. He is off the charts in EVERY category. This call also took place in front of my sons occupational therapist and she couldn't believe what was being said. I put the phone on speaker and had her listen in. I was appalled that I would be accused of not feeding my child and very concerned for my family and career as I have dedicated almost 10 years with working with people with disabilities advocating for them and caring for them. I also had to give her a run down of all he ate in a day. I immediately called the doctor and discussed the day cares concerns, they said at his upcoming appointment that they would weigh him but that they do see this behavior with day care kids due to there is competition for food. They also looked at his chart and said he is a big kid and could be growing the traditional serving size for his age is not enough for him due to his height. (the next week he couldn't fit in my favorite hoodie of his/ had to buy more clothes) After speaking to his worker and finding out that the owner of the day care called his case workers supervisor over him coming in with a poopy diaper weeks ago I was livid. His worker didn't want to tell me as she has seen how well he is doing with us and just rolled her eyes. After deliberating with all my natural supports and his worker it was clear getting him out of that day care was the best thing for him, he was not thriving or learning anything there and only negative things were being reported. It was been a few weeks now and I am happy to report that after being in his new day care for less then a week he has started to walk!! He also has been playing with kids his size there and I believe that has seem very beneficial. All the mew day care workers love him and I as his parent feel so supported and heard. In all, The workers at Nannys Nook were amazing and some I truly miss but it is also necessary that the owner works with the parent and not against them. His one and only boo boo he ever got was while at day care.. I am not sure of the type of supervision they REALLY give to the children but it wasn't enough to keep my child safe and progressing. With all that being said I do NOT recommend this Day Care. But I know that others are treated differently then we were and many people like it.

Building itself is fine, small. The classrooms are a mess and don't have any organized toys or…read moresupplies to be used. The supply closet is a mess, along with the kitchen. They don't have a fridge in the kitchen. Next comes staff, the staff seems almost seemed like they were just "babysitting". Sitting on there phones, propping babies up with bottles, allowed infants under a year to sleep with blanket in crib. Another thing, the infant teacher was aggressive putting kids to sleep and handling them. Then said "sometimes you gotta be tough". Then came the end of the day, it was 4 and still very warm outside. The center closed at 6. The kids wanted to come back inside and they didn't allow them to come back in because the rooms were closed. Overall, this is defiantly not a place to send you children.

My daughter started a new job recently and due to her lack of planning skills she was not able to…read moreutilize her first choice in day care. Care A Lot Child Care Center agreed to take my youngest grandchild. I've seen this place for years and never much gave it a second thought other than it would not have been my first choice for child care. I must clarify in that the location does not thrill me and there is not a great deal of literature/advertising for this facility. Lily experienced her first day. Lily is somewhat difficult. Lily is not keen on eating or napping. Lily, after a rough ten minutes or so, LOVED this place!!! She has made friends - for real!!! - and she loves her teachers/care coordinators! She has tried new foods and likes them!!! SHE NOW NAPS!!! By choice!! She is also somewhat upset when she does not get to go to "daycare". I cannot say enough about how well this facility worked out. Clean, well organized and well staffed. Lily comes home happy every day! With a new 'do. Braiding, upsweep, she loves it. Minor point, she will not let anyone do her hair other than her "teachers" at Care A Lot. Again, minor issue however major kudos to the care people! Kindergarten is finishing for my eldest grandchild and she will also be off to Care A Lot for the summer.

My three year old son was very hesitant and shy, and would cry almost every day at drop off. From…read morethe very start, his teachers were there to comfort him and help him through his day. A couple weeks in, I watched as my son walked away from me in tears and went right into the arms of his teacher. While I was sad to see him upset, my heart exploded when I saw how much he loved and trusted his teacher to make him feel better. I have seen nothing but kindness, love and patience from the teachers and staff at Carousel. Their communication, willingness to treat each individual family with attention and care, and their welcoming classrooms make it an amazing place to care for your babies. I cannot be happier with my experience, and I am so sad that we will have to say goodbye soon!

One older child for after school or during the breaks. Here is what i found . I know i know , you want to scroll down to see which line meets your expectations :) 1) Full day care , awesome, clean, great location, friendly staff, playground ! 2) Need 2 1/2 hr program? yes ! 9 30 - 12 for $25.00 3) Great teachers... Again, its based upon your child's needs and my son never cried here as he cried a lot in previous center so you never know! 4) Flexible flexible : just give them an advance notice and if they have space they will adjust you or switch you from regular time & day. I usually need this when i have to volunteer at my older child's school. 5) Dance/Gym/ Karate: Yes 6) Price: same as other day cares, reasonable. Though there are cheaper ones than this too. 7) Transportation: No link to transportation for after school from other elementary schools. Your own! 8) UPK: Not available as they have their own 2 1/2 hr program. 9) Teaching or learning activities: They keep the kids happy and engaged in various activities. They enforce teaching and learning through various methods but most important difference that i found here from previous place is that they pay special attention to details of each child's behavior. If my son doesn't listen, they make him listen. Previous center they didn't make him sit or listen even if he wandered or walked away from circle time or karate. 10) Technology: No Hi-Fi sci-fi stuff. Simple password entry. Its more like you can think that "the world was much better when apple and blackberries were just fruits". meaning that there was more human touch and emotional bonding. Overall for me it works great... Good luck! :)
