I contacted Pixel Studio when I saw them on Groupon because I need some new headshots for my business. When I called the studio at 11 and 11:30AM, nobody answered, but Eddie's cell number is on his answering machine, so I called him directly. I told him that I was interested in the Groupon and wanted to know before I buy it, how soon I could get an appointment. He told me not to buy the Groupon deal and I can just pay him directly when I come to do the shoot. He told me to call back to the studio and set-up an appointment with his assistant. This time, she answered the phone. I scheduled the appointment for Saturday 4/13. Google maps couldn't locate his studio and when I tried to call, there was no answer. I found it on my own. I arrived slightly early because I wasn't dressed yet and still needed to do my makeup. The shoot went well. I showed him some pictures that were a reflection of what I wanted my pictures to look like and he went with that. After taking several photos, I asked him to give me some direction so that I could get the "look" right. So, we talked and he made me very comfortable and he took some "candid" shots. At the end of the hour, I had 15 pictures that I really liked. He said 3 are included in the deal. I didn't want/need prints. Just digital photos. He made several comments about how easy digital pictures are because they don't really require him to do anything in regards to printing, etc. He said the family before me liked 56 total shots and he sold them for $200 because he didn't want to "break the bank" with the family. I thought that was very nice of him. I sat with him while he was editing my photos and that was about 3 minutes per photo in photo shop. I told him that I liked B&W pictures so he said he would throw in a B&W copy of each photo because he didn't have to do any work to it, just select that filter in PhotoShop. The total was 30 photos - 15 I picked, 3 included in the deal and 15 B&W copies. The price - $350 (after taxes). I paid it because I felt like I was helping to cushion the loss he took on the family before me, although, as he said, it didn't require him to do much. He wasn't printing 56 pictures for them, he was giving them 56 digital photos. Sure $350 is kind of high, but I justified it by saying that it averaged out to $11/photo. That was until I got a call from him on yesterday telling me that he didn't include the $79 for the Groupon in the amount he charged me. So, now, that would bring my total to $429...for 12 photos. Not counting the "free" black and white ones or the 3 "free" ones that were included in the deal. At this point, I feel like he's taking advantage of me. I was bragging about the photos and I got a lot of compliments on them. I was prepared to start referring business to him. He even asked me for referrals. Based on the work, he's GREAT. Based on the pricing and customer service. I wouldn't DARE refer anyone to this studio. I probably shouldn't have agreed to the $350. That's an average of $29 per digital photo. He said he charges $35/photo, but clearly not across the board. I don't like feeling as though I am being taken advantage of. I also learned that I should ask how much the digital photos cost before, not after the fact. But, don't tell me you're giving me a deal, then brag about how little work it is for you to edit the photos and still expect a customer to pay high prices for that to make up for the bargain basement prices you give other people. read more

Had a fantastic photo session (which was totally my idea :) with my girlfriend and the love of my life, my corgi Luigi. Brandy was our photographer and was hilarious. Not to mention how much Luigi loved her and all of the photos she got of him. If you're looking for a great photographer in Houston, check out Pixel Studio Productions. Eddie- As I did write, I was satisfied with the highlight video, but advised that people should not solely go with the quality of the highlight video. I learned that the hard way. I was completely unsatisfied with the delays, lack of communication, and poor quality of the long version. I did communicate our frustration with the studio multiple times through emails and phone. It is illogical to think that I would not try to contact your studio first. At the end of the day, we believe that without a demand letter, we would not have gotten our videos. Unfortunately, we are disappointed in what you label "art". We have a contract for a reason. We gave you guys months to cure your breach. You do not have to be an attorney to see the poor professionalism and work product. I am not debating anything. I am merely providing a review of my experience. read more

You can't fix Stupid. At least, that's how the phrase goes. The same goes for how, not everyone can look drop dead beautiful. Or so you think. Eddie is what a fellow shooter would call, talented. He can shoot anyone, and bring out their good side. That my friends takes talent... and some educated guess work when working with kids and glam-shot models. You can't croon and throw stuffed animals at models... well sometimes you can. He doesn't do that though, so you're safe. Back to the quality of work - it's exactly what you should seek. You want to make sure you pick someone that can compose a piece of work that infuses YOU and the background, and not just place you in the same backdrop as 400 other customers that came waltzing into his office. I got a great deal ( based on the quality of the end product). I'm sure I could have paid a little less per print if I went to a more "chain" type of studio, but my last experience with that didn't make me happy. I'm critical of my appearance (as we all are) and that includes my dominant Dumbo Ears. Eddie was on point with that during our shoot, and positioned us in every shot so it didn't look too staged, and he kept this great angle to where my ears weren't so dominant in every shot. Maybe it's just me, but he was receptive and listened to what we were looking for, and the whole experience felt very tailored to us, and not just a green screen shoot where we were just doing the same poses that others had done before us. Overall, I think the work was very deserving of the price and in the end I have no hesitation in recommending Pixel Studio for all my friends! read more

I chose Pixel studio for my brothers wedding and I must say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVEEE IT!! I went to Blink, another photography company who did my brothers engagement, which we were NOT pleased with!! I showed Eddie, the owner, the engagement's videography and photography and told him what we wanted differently this time around. And he did exactly that. The previous photographers work was terrible comparing to the results we got with Eddie. The other company's DVDs were SO pixelated and blurry. You could clearly tell which was the better camera and which wasn't. However in this case, he did an impeccable job. My performance in the wedding was shot perfectly, especially the fact that I'm so picky. Pakistani weddings are about 4 days long, so finding something affordable was our main priority. We got the best rate for the wedding package! I would say almost a few grand cheaper than what I could have paid!! I'm never going back to the other photographer! I wish I knew about him a few years ago for my brothers engagement, maybe we would have had a better result that time. I have used Pixel Studios on 2 occasions. We first did a photo session when my son was 6 months old. We easily booked an appointment, and Eddie D took amazing photos of my son. I was apprehensive initially with outfit changes and my child's potential irritability, but our photographer was very patient and very encouraging. The result was amazing photos framed on our mantle. I regrettably had another company take pictures at 9 months due to "deal" where buying clothes got us me a "free" photo session. Unfortunately that was a bad experience (another yelp entry). The session and images paled in comparison to Eddie D's work. Furthermore I must say Pixel's prices were fair, upfront and transparent. Realizing the excellent service Pixel provides, I went back to them for my son's first birthday party. This time with video. I must say the pictures were extraordinary. His team was able to capture the essence of the party. The video was excellent and looked like we were watching a movie. My son and I still often watch his "bird day" movie per his request at least once a week. I would highly recommend Eddie D and Pixel Studios for photo and video needs. The photos were delivered on time as promised, but the video did not. However, the editor contacted me himself and explained why. These are his exact words, "I've been working on it the past couple weeks and have kept on scrapping it and starting over 'cause it just wasn't coming out as great as I wanted." How honest is that? We understood that a work of art takes time and we felt very lucky to have a team that not only loves what they do, but also are willing to pour their passion into it! About nine months ago, I hired Eddie and his team at Pixel Studio to do the photography and videography for my wedding events. Worst decision ever. -I was impressed by the positive reviews on so many different wedding sites. Upon further investigation, I saw that all the 5-star reviews were posted within a day or two of each other...suspicious much? I wish I had caught this before I made the mistake of booking him for my wedding events. -He was extremely unprofessional, rude, and constantly late to every appointment -He did not edit a single picture, despite it being in his contract. When I kept bugging him to edit my pictures, he just sent me the exact same unedited pictures. -His video editing was horrendous. He literally put together random clips. My husband and I were extremely disappointed. -He was disrespectful to my husband's mother. At one of the events, not realizing who she was, he told her to "get her fat *** out of the way." This comment was verified by my brother and his wife. -His pricing was too high. I thought because I was paying more, I was getting better quality. Boy was I wrong. -His crew is inexperienced. They do not direct the people in the photos. They miss important shots. In fact, they didn't even wear black to the wedding events. -His crew missed significant moments...such as the cutting of the cake and the first dance. We had two videographers, yet they missed some of the most important scenes. -He thinks he looks like Johnny Depp. What a wannabe lol. The worst thing about Eddie is his customer service. Look at his responses to people's negative reviews. He never once says "Oh, I'm sorry you were unsatisfied; please let me fix the error." Every single response to a negative review...he blames the customer. He does not live by "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT." Read his responses to the negative reviews below, and judge for yourself what kind of guy he is. I would strongly advise against doing business with him. My mother hired this company to film and produce the DVDs for her annual dance recital. She has a dance company of mostly elementary aged children. The children could have done a better shit producing the DVDs. The entire film is one frame not even zoomed in far enough to see he kids faces. Anyone can put a camera on a tripod and push record. The DVD cases don't look professional at all, flimsy clear plastic cases with paper inserts. Next year she'll probably find a high school student to do the job, they won't have to work hard to make a better product than Pixel Studio Productions. read more

I hired Eddie and his team to work on my wedding a few months back. At first, I was impressed at the package we were getting. Video, photos, everything...for such a great deal! And he came off so friendly and willing to accommodate. Never mind, that he was late to every appointment...We were getting a deal! Or so I thought...and then I realized Eddie is the typical sleazy used car salesmen. He will seem like the complete package, work with you, and listen to all your requests before the event. As soon as the he gets his check...his attitude completely changes. He is no longer responsive and hard to reach. Which would be fine if he had a good end product, right? I mean he shows up with a team of photographers and videographers with some really nice equipment. And then you realize that his "team" is simply students he hires...probably paying them $15-20/hour. I'm sure you're paying a hell a lot more than that, aren't you? He doesn't have a "team," he contracts out all his work. So maybe he'll make up for it in editing/production... Nope, his editing and production are complete trash. His pictures look completely untouched and his video looks like the product of middle schooler discovering Windows Movie Maker for the first time. The worst part of it all is that it takes him MONTHS to get it to you...way longer than his promised 7-14 days. So maybe my wife and I got the short end of the straw? Nope, I had a friend who hired him after me, and he had an almost identical experience. The guy continuously screws people over. He's only concerned with one-time business; not repeat customers. You'll see that within a year, his business will be gone. Also, please see this review from another review site that I found: "Eddie (the owner) was pretty easy to work with at the beginning, and I REALLY appreciated him bringing down the price of his basic videography package when I realized I didn't need him for the minimum hours listed on his website. However, after the wedding, we were disappointed to find out that he hadn't been filming the entire time. He made a 7 minute video, and then a 25 minute video (at our request) but it was not the whole affair. When we asked what had happened to the full 4 hrs, he said it was not customary to keep filming. This was not the impression he gave me before hiring him. In that case, the price seems a bit steep for that short of filming time. Additionally he repeatedly made appointments with us and then didn't show up. We noticed he got more flippant/inattentive following the wedding, after he received the full payment, which is not great customer service. We moved away from Houston immediately following our wedding, and it was the biggest hassle having to come down to Houston every 2 to 3 weeks just so we can get our wedding video sorted out. In the end, he just dumped all the files he had filmed onto my husband's computer, uncut. It even included some files from another person's wedding preparations, which seemed intrusive. We're still working on getting all those files on one CD, at our own time without his assistance. It seems this should be his job, not ours." Long story short, I have very few regrets in life...hiring Eddie to shoot my wedding is one of them. His business model is to lure you in with empty promises, hire untrained photographers, perform almost no editing, and then ignore you when you try to complain. He missed key shots, took very poor pictures/video, and was late to every single meeting we had. I'd advise hiring a monkey from the Houston Zoo to shoot your wedding. The pictures would turn out the same as if you had hired Eddie, but it'd be hella cheaper and you could be that guy that hired a monkey to shoot your wedding. Also, he sucks at writing fake reviews. I hired Pixel Studio to do my sister's graduation party. They did an okay job, I just have a few complaints. They owner, Eddie, was always late and we paid him for two photographers and he only brought one, who didn't really seem like a pro. Also, the pictures didn't seem edited, but he claimed they were. My cousin is a professional model, and she said that the pictures weren't edited. Reading some of the reviews below make it seem more than possible that Eddie's team didn't do the best job editing. All in all, the pictures turned out okay, but for the amount I paid, I expected much better. I should have just had a family friend take pictures of something. The five stars that I have given to Pixel Studio Productions is most certainly well deserved. A month ago, Eddie was tasked with the responsibility of capturing the funnest time of my life, my sister's wedding. At first I was hoping the highlights would turn out like a movie, much like any other photography/video company does their highlights. However, after I received the highlights that Eddie put together, I was in complete awe. He not only captured all of our precious moments, but he made them seem so natural. Almost all the shots in my sister's highlights were completely candid, which makes it so much more memorable to watch. Above all, he was patient with me changing scenes and shots to accommodate the scenes that I wanted in there for sure. I not only received compliments about the wedding highlights locally, but even people INTERNATIONALLY in Pakistan are obsessing over the way he filmed them. Eddie is such a wonderful, talented and most patient photographer I've ever met! I've been using his expertise for more than 6 years now...he's charismatic & professional, A photographer with passion! I cannot say enough great things about Eddie and his team. I heard about Pixel Studios because they were the preferred photographer/videographer at our venue. Eddie did our engagement photos, my bridal portraits, and our day-of photography and videography (with his team). Eddie and his team were incredibly professional, really easy to work with, and produced high quality images. At our reception, they were everywhere, but you never noticed them, which many people commented on. I HIGHLY recommend them and will use them again when I have another photography occasion. For engagement photos, we had our 2 high maintenance yellow labs with us. Eddie managed to get an amazing shot of us with them in addition to all the ones of us as a couple. We had never done a photo shoot like this before, so posing was a little awkward, but Eddie made it fun and the pictures were amazing. For my bridal portraits, in less than an hour he had taken ~500 pictures of me, most of which came out great. He had my 2 portraits printed a couple of days later. We got all of the pictures on a USB incredibly quickly- within a week or so for engagement and portraits and in less than 3 weeks for day-of! For my engagement photos and portraits we/I got to go right to his studio to pick out our favorites to prioritize the ones for him to edit (eventually all were editted). I like that we got low resolution/quick-look images on Dropbox in even less time than above. For day-of, Eddie added some pictures from getting ready and the ceremony and already had them shared on Facebook during our reception. The wedding highlights video was available about a week after a wedding. I have gotten so many compliments on the video. We still need to watch our full length (2+ hr) version and are really looking forward to it. read more

I scheduled our session with Eddie for myself and my 3 year old daughter. His studio called us to confirm our appointment. We arrived at least 30 minutes early to be prepared, brought a couple of different outfits. Mr.Eddie was not there. His assistant told us that Mr.Eddie would show up soon and she could start shooting us to pass time. Well... Eddie never showed up for our session that was scheduled with him. His assistant made many pictures of the quality well below JC Penny standard (well she was not who was supposed to do it after all). When we came to pick up our CD Eddie was there and he had a nerve to tell me that he did me a huge favor for selling CD for $162 instead of $300. For bunch of rubbish that was done by the apprentice whom I suggested poses and ideas myself? That would be hysterically funny if I did not have to waste my whole day on such nonsense. Eddie, sweetheart, the professional business is not about one time deal. $162 or $300, it does not matter if you do not have repeat customers. read more

I approached pixel studios to photograph my family at an outdoor location. I thought i was getting a good deal with the package that I chose. On the day of the session, they sent a guy who came 20 minutes late to the location. I could see clearly how he was struggling with his equipment. I bet he barely knew how to operate the camera. He was fidgeting with it the whole time. He was asking us if we thought the lighting was good, after every shot. He was probably a student who was sent with a camera that had all the settings preset! All he did was just turned it on and shot such amateur pictures. Personally, I'm a good photographer myself but the only reason I wanted to do a professional photo-shoot was because I wanted to be in the photos! He had absolutely no knowledge on photography and most of the pictures he clicked were pure rubbish where atleast 1 person was out of frame!! It was a total rip off! After the photoshoot, I never even received a call from the studio about whether or not my pictures were ready. So I called them myself and they asked me to come down to the studio and select pictures. I went there and met Eddie who comes off as arrogant and unapologetic! I told him how all pictures were off the frame and he says to me that the pictures would be cut anyway if I were to go with bigger prints! All I wanted to hear was an apology which was too much to ask for in this case! He said he had retouched some pictures but I didn't find a single difference between the retouched ones and the unedited ones! I can edit them myself if I want to but "didn't I pay this guy to do it for me?" !! Total sham! I photograph for fun and I know a thing or two about photography. So when he ruins my photographs and tries to fool me with his stupid excuses, I'M NOT GOING TO BUY THEM cos I know how it works! read more

Pixel was 1) Cheaper than nearly everyone I called; 2) They could fit me in whenever, just stop by; 3) The enhancing didn't look cheesy. After all it was for work, I needed it a hurry, and I needed it to look good. Everything went smoothly and Eddie delivered!
