So I decided to send an email to check availability of some gear and shipment. I got one simple response "Yes, product X exists, and costs $ dollars". Then I inquired about more gear for my camera. Surly I got a response "Yes, product X exists, and costs $ dollars". Notice how I said "product X" both times. Same reply to two different products plus the email response was sent late at around 3am. So I decided to call the shop and figure out if the second product I wanted was available and to place an order. The owner answers the phone and shortly after I said "Hi, i'm looking for product Y" he says "didn't you get my email response?". I said yes but I got same response for two different emails. The store owner hangs up. Yes, hangs up the phone. Then it hit me that this web site is really a scam. I sent one final email in response to phone hang up. They do make the effort to only stock pretty good equipment and leave the junk behind. It's worth driving out to the Junction to get the prices alone. That being said, it's the kind of place you'd rather just pop in to, buy your stuff, and leave. On good days, the service is polite and helpful - but on the worst days, it reeks of memories of trying to check out equipment from your local film-school cage. I think they must make a lot of their business through online or big company orders because they really aren't trying to be nice to semi-professionals or artists at all. And while they have a pretty good grasp of their equipment, they can't necessarily answer questions that go beyond the printed specs of the cameras (i.e. underscan/overscan of LCD monitors). In addition, in terms of decor, the place could use a serious makeover. Who puts their office desks (overflowing with papers, nonetheless) on the boutique side of the floor? It's really too bad that their service doesn't match their website - they would be the best place to go to in the city.
