First time here after spending the day at Presque Isle park. Curb appeal is somewhat questionable, but we decided to try it anyhow. Made the right decision. Dining room was inviting and service was friendly and attentive. Seems like there were at lot of locals as well has new comers. Pretty extensive menu with a standing list of rotating daily specials. We're rounding up from a 4.5 - we really enjoyed dinner at this local eatery, recommended by the owner at the Lake Breeze Motel. He caught my attention with the Thursday special of chicken and biscuits, so we checked it out. There's a small dining area - maybe 15 tables? - and a bar, so it's a bit snug and every table was filled when I went in to get a menu, thinking we'd do take-out, but there was no wait when we decided to do dine-in. We had to wait a short time for the server to get to us, but she was great - good recommendations for narrowing down our choices and just the right amount of attentive after we ordered. I started with the crab cake appetizer, which came with a zesty sauce. I enjoyed them, although I'm used to flattened crab cakes and these were more ball- shaped. I had the chicken and biscuits, which was very tasty - nice chunks of white meat in gravy, over real mashed potatoes and generous biscuits. The cole slaw was just right - crunchy and a little sweet, not overpowered by mayonnaise. Partner had the shepherd's pie, which, as our server cautioned, was heavily seasoned with thyme, but had great flavor and a nice mix of vegetables under the mashed potatoes. This was my first time here, I'm a veteran and found the atmosphere to be truly unique and inspiring. The place is surrounded by military service member photographs and emails which are printed off and cover the walls.. The menu selection was good, it has a nice selection of American food, burgers and SMITH'S hotdogs, and it also has a nice selection of steaks and seafood at a pretty reasonable price. I made reservations 3 days ahead of time so we could drive 1 1/2 hours to enjoy this restaurant that had such great reviews. When we arrived they were packed and woefully understaffed due to unforeseen circumstances. I wasn't sure if we would be able to stay, but they stepped up, got us seated and they were wonderful!!! Great place to eat in my neighborhood. I sat at the bar and the bartender/sever was very funny. I ate with a group of friends and Moose. As is tradition, Moose was saying peculiar things and we of course let him know it, but what made it great is the bartender joined our verbal attack on Moose. We all ordered Reuben sandwiches (except for moose) and were impressed with the taste and hearty portion size of fries on the side. Oh... I love this neighborhood joint. It has a lot of heart inside with the owner's support of the troops from all over the US, and the staff interaction. Perfect place at a perfect time.... We were doing a military transfer from Boston to Seattle as my husband retired from USCG after 33 yrs.....small cozy bar/ restaurant with TV playing. I had my doubts as I walked in thinking this place needs some serious cleaning to the floor my shoes were sticking to..... Until...... We met the sweetest most caring owner than just bought the place 9 yrs ago. She said it's the oldest eating place in Erie and she dedicates her life to serving the men and women who serve in the armed forces. Her son was deployed in Iraq and she shared how she and the community send gift boxes to soldiers overseas every week. Walls are decorated with dozens of letters and pictures from soldiers thanking her. We wanted to try the local perch dinner and the special was blackened 12 oz prime rib. The perch was fresh, lightly breaded and tasty. Husband and I shared entire 2 meals like a surf and turf. He had coleslaw and house made fries. My prime rib was cooked perfect and so yummy I didn't miss my usual horseradish i usually order. It came with some so-so mashed potatoes, gravy and a fresh green salad on the side. Lots of beer selections. A must go if you are in the area. Service us A+++++!!!!! read more

But you can get just about anything you want, from steaks, prime rib, seafood, pasta, stir fry, burgers--anything! I had a seafood platter with perch, clams and crab cake. Delightful! We tried some of the their specials but over salted precooked food. A waitress that will ignore you. The last time we were there our plates were hot to the touch but food was cold inside. There were cracks in the gravy. When i finally got our waitress to come back and ask her to warm up our food. She responded that the plates were "already reheated once". Love this place. My wife is always on the lookout for a good Lake Erie perch dinner when we we are in OH/PA/NY, and she says this might be the best she's had. I'll agree that it was very good. Being a Browns fan 1st and a Steeler fan b/c my wife is, I really liked the Steeler/Pirates/Penguins memorabilia. The food was great. The service was great. More of a tavern that a family restaurant, they accommodated my 3 kiddos very well. Meatloaf was very good! Their Pittsburgh Sandwich of sausage with peppers and onions was delicious! Food was good service was great! The two star comes from a coupon that was for buy one dinner get one free. They only took off $10, which was nice but not the full value of the meal. When we questioned we were told that all coupons are for only $10 off (even though the coupon didn't say that). In my opinion the business should honor the coupon. I would not recommend for anyone to go there. I can honestly say that this was beyond horrible. My husband ordered steak but I don't think you could call it steak. Not sure what it was. I ordered the seafood platter. It was your typical frozen seafood. My friend ordered the "homemade" meatloaf. It looked like processed meat. She said it did not taste like real meat either. For my husband and I, the bill was $61, which included a couple drinks and the drinks were the only things worth paying for. All in all, I wouldn't even give it 1 star if I didn't have to. read more

Do not I mean do not judge this place by the outside, this place great food, fun decor and good service. They also involve there love and support of the military. They asked my son's if they wanted to color a picture for them to send to the military, which my kids did and they loved it. It is nice to see a business that has great food, service and values.
