Instead of removing them and then having a biopsy. They requested biopsy. Biopsy came back negative. Now my insurance company will not cover the removal because they claim it to be cosmetic. The doctor should have removed and if she insisted requested a biopsy now I'm stuck. Additionally I spoke to them about hair loss which I think is a part of my medication regime. I've never had an office make an additional appointment to discuss hair loss. Now I'm told that it will not be covered by my insurance because again the insurance considers it cosmetic. I honestly don't know whether it falls on Athens dermatology group or my insurance but I think there could have been something worked out that these situations would have been taken care of. Just now may 2025 I tried to reach the office and doing so I was connected with three, yes 3, different companies who took care of a different part of the practices business. It's surely feels so they're getting way too big for their britches and their bottom line is not concerned for their patient but concerned for their pocket

After my sixth visit, they began sending me bills that I owed for the entire amount because my insurance wouldn't pay. I talked with UHC and was told they had not denied payment for that sixth visit because they never received the claim from University Dermatology. I was told by University Dermatology they tried to file this claim unsuccessfully multiple times. But UHC has no record of those claims or denying service for me. In fact, I've been to another dermatologist 4 times since then with no billing problems. University Dermatology has now turned over my bill to a collection service. In essence, University Dermatology wants me to pay because they screwed up filing the claim. I visited the office and tried to meet with the office manager. I wrote a letter documenting my billing history and what UHC said. I had a UHC representative offer to join me on a conference call to discuss and the offer was not accepted. Good luck if there is a problem with your billing.

I called up saying I was unsatisfied with my appointment and told another physician would call me and answer all questions. I had to call back 3 times to make sure they called me!! Whenever they actually did it was a nurse and not the physician I was promised and whenever I asked her questions she told me that was above her license to share. What idiots. But, he has changed dramatically over the past few years. He is now jaded and outwardly judgemental. If you are a white conservative male, you will probably love Dr. Greeson and receive outstanding treatment from him. He is technically proficient. However, if you are anything besides a conservative white male, you should find another doctor. Dr. Greeson is extremely judgemental about tattoos and piercings and will shame you for having them. He doesn't even try to hide his disdain. If a doctor's diagnosis is constantly shifting, but his prognosis stays the same, then he has an attachment to that outcome. Dr. Greeson has strong negative views regarding any type of body adornment (tattoos, piercings). When I was having issues with one of my piercings, he had several different reasons for the fussy piercing, but the one constant was his mandate to remove it. He even tried to remove it himself without my consent or even telling me what he was doing, which actually bent the jewelry and further irritated the piercing. (The piercing is healthy and happy now, fyi) Dr. Greeson allowed his personal opinion to get in the way of his medical assessment. His moral lectures have absolutely no place in an examination room. He is a doctor: NOT a pastor and certainly NOT my parent. It is his place to advise patients with medical insight and knowledge, not berate or shame them based on their personal beliefs. A doctor's dialogue should remain objective and scientific. This doesn't seem like the Dr. Greeson I once knew and respected, and its a little sad actually. His anger and personal feelings should have no bearing on medical diagnoses. It is not normal or natural to have so much anger and condemnation towards one's patients. After all, one cannot help or heal that which he hates. It renders one ineffective. I hope Dr. Greeson will rediscover the great doctor he used to be. In the meantime, if you aren't a cookie cutter white male, I would find another doctor.

Also, their waiting room has several large display cases of products, and they seem to focus a lot on cosmetic treatments. I got Dr. Greeson's name from a friend and was able to get an appointment within a couple of weeks. I have seen him four times now and have always found him to be personable, thorough and efficient. Upon doing a skin check he identified and removed several pre-cancerous spots and a "questionable" mole. The nurse told me the biopsy results would take about 10 days; two of my friends have died of melanoma and I am always a bit anxious waiting for biopsy results. The nurse called the next day to see how I was doing, and then called again within a week to tell me the biopsy results were negative. I was very happy not to have to wait 10 days! Dr. Greeson wanted to do another skin check in three months, and recommended removing three more moles. I got favorable biopsy results before the week was up! The staff are all very professional and pleasant and I have never had to wait long to be seen. I have been pleased that Dr. G was happy to give me recommendations for skin care, including an OTC product for wrinkles. I also like that he doesn't sell products.

I ended up spending an additional $224 on microneedling, bringing my total to over $1,300 in two months, with no results. I was later offered a modeling agreement, under the promise of 2 complimentary facial treatments, including a facial the same day. Trusting this, I signed the agreement and had the facial, only to be charged $79 afterward. To my shock, the owner jumped in to claim the consent was only for two extra RF treatments--treatments that had already proven ineffective during my sessions. On my last visit the owner admitted my condition is difficult to treat and RF results aren't guaranteed--information that should've been disclosed upfront. Adding to the frustration, the owner consistently responds with a generic apology to dissatisfied customers, showing no accountability for their practices. While Keiko and the receptionist were kind and professional, the owner's dismissive and inconsistent handling left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. I hope no one else has to go through this frustrating and costly experience.
