Came here with 5 other friends and they kept running out of beer. The waiters response was there are only 12 beers in a case and the six of you take have the pack so it takes a while to get cold. Does this bar not plan ahead. Not a good choice. This is not the first time being here, I've been here 4-5 other times and always and issue even when ordering liquor. read more

Weak mixed drinks. Cool physical layout with different types of spaces, especially the upstairs outdoor deck. Ordered a vodka soda and cranberry vodka at the upstairs bar around 11pm, and both drinks didn't tasted like they had hardly any alcohol. If they were more than $6 a piece and it wasn't super busy, I would have asked the bartender to try it/remake. Tried a different bar, the one on next level down on the middle floor, same drinks, and same deal, basically soda water and cranberry juice. Disappointing. read more

In town for a football game and to visit the sites. My friend and I went to this bar to watch some sports. The room was extremely bright. Do they not have a dimmer switch? Poor TV set up. They have only 4 beers on tap and of those, one was out of stock. They also had a selection of cans. Ordered a couple of beers and onion rings. The onion rings came out in a tacky basket and with a small soufflé cup with about an ounce of ketchup. All the tables had yellow mustard though?! Seemed like an odd presentation. I've been here twice and really enjoy it. The dj mixes very well and plays one of the best music that you don't hear anywhere else. Lots of spaces to explore though the main room with dancing gets too hot. Even though there are a bunch of fans, the ventilation isnt great. The simple cocktails are $6 which i think is a good value. There are places to talk, play games, and dance, what more could you ask for? read more

So after dropping $20 to Uber into Adams Morgan (it's a pain in the a$$) I finally got to DC's newest gay bar. I have to say my first experience was not positive due to the fact that I got a watered down cape cod. If I am going to go the extra mile to leave the gayborhood and go to Adams Morgan I would at least hope that the bar tender could pour a decent drink. My friends vodka 7up was pink. Seriously. It's a bar how can you mess it up. The space was fine. Bathrooms clean etc. no problems there. I may give them another chance but fear this bar will be the local gay bar and nothing else. Absolutely amazing place and finally a gay bar in DC that actually has top shelf liquor like Don Julio. Jo McDaniel and Jayson Smith are the best bartenders ever. So this place is SUPER DIFFERENT from most gay bars because they have a lesbian den! Super cute basement like atmosphere with throwback games galoreeeee!! There's super Mario bros,donkey Kong and more on the super Nintendo and Nintendo 64! The bartenders aren't really experienced so don't expect any liquid marijuanas or trashcans lol two of my favorites but they were super attentive and fast. The bareback was a sweetheart! The bar also has a charging port for your phones which is nifty! They also serve food so you can grab some fries to go with whatever your choice of liquor may be! read more

Pitchers is a great bar with a lovely atmosphere, but unfortunately I had a very uncomfortable experience with the hostess. I walked in with three of my friends and asked if there were any available tables outside. She then said to me, "Sorry, our tables outside are reserved for queer women." I'm a queer woman. I was very taken aback and didn't know what to say. She obviously assumed my sexuality from how I was dressed and I was kind of offended. It really did not make me feel welcome in a community that I belong to. The hostess then asked a waiter if one of the tables outside was available, granted there were many open tables outside, and he led us to a table. I just went today for Drag Picnic. It was AMAZING. So much energy. Good food. And you didn't have to drown in cheap champagne that you paid 20 bucks for. You ordered what you want with some specials. The wait staff were great. The cast was full of energy....not a single balod in the musical line up (thank god). Every table was booked, people were trying to get in without a reservation and had to be turned away. This is the Saturday Drag Picnic that every other Drag Brunch LACKS. Come get your happy on with a seasoned Drag line up. After the show we hung out, the bartenders and staff are so sweet and fun. It felt like we were family from day one. Went to try out the new bar with friends after a game. Ordered a CBR (chicken bacon ranch) sandwich and a side of sweet potato tots along with my beer. I didn't realize until my sandwich came out that I also needed to order lettuce and tomato on it as well...Compared to similar local bar food (Nellies) the portion of tater tots was pretty small (maybe ~15 tots) and the plate size was a rectangular tray similar to one out of Applebee's/TGI Friday's. The food tasted fine, nothing amazing nothing terrible. There was no beer or cocktail menu and when I asked the server what the drafts were he told us to look at the drafts at the bar (we were sitting out of the line of view). Beer selection was par for a sports bar. Their current policy is to either do 1 big check or split the check equally across the party. Considering it's a gay (queer? Lol) sports bar that will appeal to a lot of the local teams they probably should rethink their check policy. Overall I was there for an hour before skipping out and heading back across town. Considering the service and the owners history at JRs I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

Came here on 10/10 in the evening. They were screening a basketball at an ear-splitting volume. I had come with a group from work, and the TV volume was deafening. I asked our waitress if there was anyway she could turn it down just a little. Answer was no. She also screwed up my order. When my food finally arrived, it was not good. Beer was also not good. Pitchers has recently established a new policy where bags need to be left in an unattended area. This prevents anyone entering with an expensive bag or a laptop. To "steal" from Homeland Security, do not leave any bag unattended. I'm not even sure this legal. read more

I went this past Sunday and loved the outdoor space. Drinks were priced good and bartenders on top of it even though it was pretty packed. Next time I will try the food. Glad to have a sports bar in the neighborhood! I will be back for sure! read more

I went to this bar for a birthday celebration with a few friends. It was a quiet Thursday night and we were enjoying a beer at the downstairs bar. After about 30 minutes, the owner/manager came into the bar and told us to go upstairs because upstairs is where people are allowed to stand and drink. We were standing in the "dining area". It wasn't the fact that we weren't allowed to stand there that was the issue, it's the way the owner handled the situation, being very confrontational and treating paying customers as if we were intruders to his establishment. Once we went upstairs, we tried to get the football game that we were watching downstairs to come on the tv upstairs but the bartender and owner were not helping the situation. The owner said he didn't care if we left if we didn't like his rules and was extremely rude to us, dropping the f-bomb several times. I honestly have been a regular patron of this bar since it opened, but I can confidently say I will not be coming back to this bar again with existing management/owners who treat customers this way. read more

Great new sports bar to bring a group of friends, watch a game, or hang out on the roof deck and enjoy the weather. It's a huge space with lots of separate rooms. Drink prices are standard for other bars in the area. Nice to have a new LGBT bar in Adams Morgan. read more

We came in here to get a drink and we were hoping that A League Of Her Own was already open but apparently it was not. So we decided to stick around and have a drink and a cocktail. Our server was super nice. We did go over and meet the managers and the crew working on getting a league of her own ready to open up. However I left without paying my tab for the two drinks and later when I called back to take care of the tab the person on the phone was very rude. She said there was no open tab and later it was determined there was because it rang through on my bank account. It didn't appear that they put any extra tip on it and that was the whole point of me calling because I wanted to go ahead and give them a tip. Anyway she kept saying there is no open tab. She said to don't worry about it and to just have a good night and hung up. I know that she was a blonde lady who is at the bottom main floor bar. She was very loud and kind of out there with her personality when we were there. Her manners on the phone didn't appear to be any different. I will not fault the bar for their employees but seriously should consider better customer service when people are calling back to take care of their tabs. Also the doors on the bathrooms either didn't work or close properly. Not cool if women are in the establishment. This is me being the responsible one. Hence I give them a 2 star review. read more

Okay, so after a few more visits i decided to give it a more fair review and here are my thoughts. Just as i stated in my first review drinks suck! I usually get cranberry vodka but it literally tastes like just juice. Aside from that its not that bad. Food is actually kind of good. Their fries are delicious wings are okay. The server (forgot his name but the one with glitery eye makeup) was super nice and fast. The dancefloor is nice, music kind of sucks sometimes but it doesnt matter when you are having a good time. Parking is a nightmare around here if you are driving and the walk is kind of uncomfortable. As many reviews have stated it is not diverse at all and the crowd is very masc and white. I wont blame that on the bar itself. I think a place is what we make of it and i have very high hopes for this bar. Hopefully in the future it can be more diverse and bartenders can make ~stronger~ drinks. Also, THERE IS A LESBIAN BAR DOWNSTAIRS which i really love. Never heard of such thing so im happy girls can have a place of their own! Overall the place is fun if you are with the right friends. Remember this place is far from all the other gay spots so if i come here i usually dont go anywhere else after that. read more

Pitchers is an awesome space! The staff does an excellent job which is not easy when you put people and alcohol together...a recipe for confrontation. To the members of the bridal party that got turned away last weekend for obviously being intoxicated, including the one gay male member who posted a LONG complaint about the bar on Prince of Petworth: You are not fooling anyone. No one believes you began the day with a tour of a winery and ended up at 10:30 ish pm at a bar and were completely stone cold sober. NO ONE!! And the length of your Prince of Petworth article drives that point home...far far too long to be honest. As for the gay community absorbing the bridal shower mania, that is a touchy subject and there is no answer to satisfy everyone. Having said that, the gay community and our safe spaces are not there for your viewing pleasure. And any member of the recent bridal party has lost all credibility rebutting that notion due to one of your bridal party member's yelp post where she states she thought all gay men were supposed to be hot in the midst of her vulgar rant against the bouncer for doing his job. We, as a community, strive to be inclusive. We don't always succeed. Amongst ourselves we often disagree. How about if the staight community cleans its own house at the same time as we try to keep ours clean? That means zero discrimination against LGBTQ people, religion based or otherwise. When there ceases to be such a thing as a Supreme Court case upholding discrimination against a person for being a member of the LGBTQ community and the court sites freedom of religion as it's justification, then lets revisit the bridal shower topic. Until then, since straight people make up 90% of the population and can go to at least 90% of all establishments without being openly discriminated against, bridal showers should go to straight venues or pre coordinate with a gay venue before assuming showing up lit and descending on a gay venue, as if you're going to colonize it, is okay. read more

I had never been here before and probably will never go back. I walked in and was approached by some muscle guy telling me the downstairs is closed he asked for my I'd, which I was happy to present. He has too much additude. I said politely this is my first time here again he says the downstairs is closed. I said where can I order my drink, he says upstairs. I finally made it to the upstairs patio area and I ordered 2 Margaritas with salt on the rim of the glass. My bartender comes back puts 2 drinks down on the bar and says here you go, he says we don't have salt. I said this is a bar right? How can you not have Margarita salt, no cut limes or straws for my drink. And then has the nerve to charge me 16 dollars. read more

Went here one evening when it wasn't very busy and sat at the bar. Two guys attempted to sit at one of the many tables (all empty) were told they could not occupy a table without ordering food! There were even little signs on the table to that effect. So the guys had to squeeze in at the bar and I moved over one seat to accommodate them. I understand some tables may be reserved for dining, but when they're all empty does it make sense not to let anyone use them? Maybe some folks would order a few drinks first and then decide on food. My only gripe was the group of straight females (5 of them) who do NOT belong in a gay bar when they have multiple options to hang out in the twenty other bars on the street. I love Pitchers!! Great queer space with lots of areas for whatever you need--dancing, video games, hanging out outdoors. And the owner is super nice! The thing that brings me in the most though is the drag show hosted on Thursday nights by Venus Valhalla. She always puts together a different group of drag queens and drag kings and it's my fave place to go in town for a quality weekly drag show. I just went for the first time a few weeks ago and have been going every week since. I would for sure recommend Pitchers to anyone, it's such a blessing since Town closed and we lost their drag show. read more
