went there one day to try a bunch of stuff on and see what I liked. hadn't been shopping in a while so I picked up a few items. no mention of an item limit for the dressing room. or that I need to put things back on hangers deliberately, but I did anyway. Bought a couple things but they closed before I was done so I came back the next day to try on some of the items I didn't around to. As I'm attempting to check out the second day, the girl at the front desk accuses me of having "extra hangers" and tells me to leave before I can even make my purchases. I had not taken anything, I didn't even have a bag on me and all I was wearing was a tshirt and leggings. literally turned out my pockets for this nasty ass employee and showed her that I had not done anything, was actually actively trying to BUY things from her (for the second time) but she accused me of shoplifting repeatedly purely on the basis of me having "extra hangers". poorly run, employees are rude as hell, if they're that worried about shoplifters they should put an item limit on the door and not just go off of whether you have extra hangers. Literally an insane experience. Left crying because I had the audacity to try on multiple items. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I really like this boutique! It's located in the heart of Baxter Avenue and although small, they have a lot of cute clothing and accessories that they sell. The girls working at the time I came into the shop were very nice and welcoming. The store is narrow, but was clean and organized. Most things were color coordinated, which made it a lot more relaxing for me to peruse through the racks and find things easier. Their prices are moderate, but you can find some good steals on their sale racks. Reaallly cute clothes too! I'll definitely be back whenever I am in the area again. read more

One of my favorite boutiques in Louisville that I frequent a little too often ;) When you walk in you are greeted with a smile and someone that is dressed ridiculously stylish and fun!!! The styles Re both eccentric and modern and tend to fit any style or age group! I tend to spend a little bit too much every time I visit! But I always leave with plenty of darling clothes and accessories! My personal favorite racks are the sale racks! I have brought home so many stylish deals and steals from this adorable boutique!!! This has been one of my favorite little Highlands boutiques for many years. There are always outfits in the large storefront windows that catch my eye and cause me to wonder in and purchase clothing I don't need. :) The layout of the store is pretty cool. It is color coded so all the pink are together, blues, greens, etc. They have lots of basics like jeans, shorts and tanks. They also have loads of sexy little going out dresses, skirts, earrings, belts and more. I have purchased several cute dresses for $30 or less. There is always a sale rack too. The staff is patient and fun. Last Sunday, I must have tried on 12 different outfits and didn't end up buying anything and they never pressured me to do so! The sizes are fairly small. Most things are just small, medium and large and I would say those range from size 0-8 or maybe 10. If you wear larger than a 8-10, you probably won't have much luck shopping here. read more

The stores clothes and other items are super cute and I have purchased many times in the past but it's impossible to shop in there with the way the employees act now. The last two times I have been in there, alone, no one else in the store, both employees working will come from behind the counter and stand on each side of you and just watch you the whole time. Only reason I didn't purchase anything from this store last night was because of the employees. My cousin and I walked in and immediately felt so unwelcome. The girls looked both of us up and down with their arms crossed and a disgusted look on their face. A girl trying on dresses asked the girls working if they've ever been through rush for a sorority & they took a few seconds to respond and all they said was "no" in a rude way. They didn't even try to help the girl pick out something. Pitaya is my go to store when I'm at IU for school but I had to leave this location because they made us feel so uncomfortable. I admit I don't go to this store enough as I should. I really should frequent it more often because four times out of five I find a fun new top or accessory, without paying more than $30. In particular, I've found a neon yellow scarf that I wear almost weekly when it's a bit cooler out, a light salmon-colored tunic and a flow-y top with red and green flowers on it. I've also suffered remorse for not buying a couple of items I've spotted there in the past, including a purple cocktail dress and drop-dead fun Derby hat that was white with black dots on it (and only $20). Took my friend here for the first time and she automatically bought a shirt here after like a few minutes in there. The style is not too edgy and perfectly classy that it fits the Highlands/college scene perfectly! I bough two of the cutest earrings here. And one style I have been wanting for a while for like a total of $10. Everything is quite well priced here! I've gone in Pitaya 3 or 4 times now and have found something that I love every time. It is a small store, but PItaya is stocked with trendy pieces in the latest season's hot colors (lots of oranges and corals right now), along with basic black and white. I particularly love their dresses and a cotton blazer that has become a staple of my wardrobe in a very short time. Everything I've purchased has been well-constructed and has held up to washings. Bonus: accessories! I just bought my second pair of $10 sunglasses that are adorable and trendy, but without breaking my wallet when they inevitably get broken or scratched. I'm super hard on my sunglasses, but the pair I've had for 2 months from there are still alive. Also, sign up for the newsletter when you make your purchase. It comes out on Thursdays, which is when they get stuff in stock (along with Fridays), so if there's something you really like, chances are they'll have it in your size. A lot of times, mediums are sold out first, and usually i'm a medium. That is probably the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. read more

Pitaya is a cute little boutique full of nice quality clothes at reasonable prices. Everything is 100% on trend, which is perfectly fine if that's the look you're going for. But if you're thinking off stepping outside the box, you'll have to pair something you bought at Pitaya with something already in your closet, or something you picked up somewhere else. It's housed in small, but very effective space that doesn't carry too many of the same pieces, so if you find something you like you're not likely find the rest of Louisville wearing the same thing. I've been to Pitaya a few times now after never feeling the need to expand past all the consignment shops. But alas, the time will always come when I just feel like I need something brand spanking new. Like on New Years. I was really pleased that their dresses were not as cheaply made as General Eccentric's and a few of them were fitted for people over 5' 5"...a few of them. This is my main gripe with the store: sizing. Most everything is made for the average stature of woman and not giants like me. It reminds me of Forever 21 but for 20 somethings and not just teenagers. It's winter time now so I was able to find a cute dress that had some weight to it for warmth but was still trendy that while it was a tad short, I could get away with it wearing some handy dandy leggings. However, summer's coming soon and then anything cute I buy in a size medium (which you'd think would be at least a little bit longer than the size small, but it's not!) from Pitaya is gonna be waaaaay to short. The length not being suited for tall people is my personal bone to pick with this store/ the companies they buy from. But as others have pointed out, only having SML probably makes this shop hard for many women to shop at. The tights I bought on clearance for $10 ripped the second I put one foot in the stocking. I guess I have to blame my clumsiness on that one because my friend got a pair from the exact same brand and hers held up fine. Or maybe they could have been made a little bit less delicate... who knows? I'll be back on occasion just because you never know what you'll find and I highly appreciate their organization by color coordination and the friendly and helpful staff, but I don't see this becoming a regular stop on shopping ventures. read more

Over the course of the fall/winter I found several pieces that really suit me here, so Pitaya deserves a bump. I will also add that their clothing only comes in S/M/L, which is pretty limiting and probably means they are alienating a lot of women. But personally I have had very good luck here. read more

I went into today for the first time, and I absolutely LOVED it! I ended up walking away with too many new things (oops)! The staff was amazing as well. They were helpful, but not pushy or crowding! Both workers were sweet and good at their jobs! The buyer has done an amazing job, because I loved nearly everything they had. On trend, good quality, and the prices were FAB! A lot of boutiques have clothes that are not sized correctly, and are made from cheap material... but not this gem! College ladies..mommas...anyone! This place is worth the trip. As much as I like going to Pitaya on Baxter, I don't think I've ever bought anything that wasn't on the clearance rack. The style is trendy, fashionable, and the earrings are cute. I can't really afford anything off the clearance rack but when it's on sale, I love trying on their clothes. A cute little boutique store to wander in for sure. read more

Honestly I'm a guy this isn't clothes I wear or buy for myself but I went shopping here with my girlfriend and well 1st thing about it is she got some clothes that she looks damn good in. But the 2nd thing that I liked the most about this store was the fact that they had a couch right next to the dressing rooms which meant that us guys didn't have to stand the whole time and have aching feet. My boyfriend wanted Taco Luchador, so as we sat eating tacos, discussing our Derby Plans, I admitted, I still needed my Hat for the Oaks. tickets, check, dress, check, Hat... Across the street is Pitaya, he suggested we go in there. So after our tacos we ventured across the street. As it was, they had just received a shipment of Derby hats and fascinators. The shop girl had a pretty pink hat set aside, but she gladly showed it to me. It is going to look great with the dress that I bought from Caches closing sale, and for a great price (Only $60.00 compared to the $200 price tag that I was quoted at other shops)!
