Specialties
Pisgah Needleworks is a needlepoint-focused creative studio offering carefully curated supplies, kits, and expert support for stitchers at every stage. We proudly serve needlepoint artists while also providing resources for quilting, embroidery, cross stitch, Diamond Art, and select fiber arts.
Beyond supplies, we specialize in high-quality custom work and personalization. Our services include custom needlepoint finishing, embroidery, apparel printing, baby items, home décor, and branded products for businesses and organizations seeking distinctive, professionally finished pieces.
As a family-run business rooted in the Elkin community, we approach every project with precision, care, and respect for craftsmanship. Customers choose Pisgah Needleworks for knowledgeable guidance, personal service, and work that reflects attention to detail rather than mass production. From helping a beginner start needlepoint with confidence to delivering polished custom pieces, we provide the skill and creativity that set our work apart.
History
Established in 2025.
Pisgah Needleworks opened in downtown Elkin, North Carolina, in late September as a family-run creative studio rooted in traditional needlework and thoughtful craftsmanship. The shop was inspired by the founders’ son, who has autism, and the calming, confidence-building role that hands-on creative work plays in his life. That influence shaped a welcoming space built on patience, care, and attention to detail.
From the beginning, Pisgah Needleworks has focused on quality over mass production. The shop offers curated supplies and support for needlepoint, along with quilting, embroidery, cross stitch, Diamond Art, and custom personalization. Services range from needlepoint finishing and heirloom projects to personalized gifts, baby items, home décor, and branded products for businesses and organizations.
Every piece is handled with the same care the family would give their own, creating a studio where craftsmanship, guidance, and personal service come first.
Meet the Business Owner: Josh J.
I hold degrees from Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a background rooted in history, preservation, and thoughtful craftsmanship. Making things by hand has always been part of my family’s story, passed down through generations as both a creative outlet and a way to care for others.
Our journey through foster care and adoption gave that tradition new meaning. Our son, who has autism, finds calm and confidence through hands-on creative work, and that experience inspired me to create Pisgah Needleworks. I wanted to build a space where patience, guidance, and quality materials come first.
Pisgah Needleworks reflects my belief that needlework and crafting are more than hobbies. They are grounding, meaningful practices that connect people to tradition, creativity, and one another.
